I was pleasantly surprised by the property. The pictures online do not do it justice. Other than the neighbor’s dogs barking, it was quiet and peaceful.
This place was amazing. We enjoyed a refreshing relaxing week at the cabin. Plenty of deer and wildlife to keep us entertained while enjoying the awesome patios. The additional apartment was a huge bonus for us. The host was fantastic!
We really enjoyed our stay at the cozy cabin. Our group prefers a peaceful, natural setting…and we weren’t disappointed. The decks where we spent much of out time were spacious and the wildlife abundant. The house itself was perfect…clean, inviting and provided for all of our needs. It was a great combination of seclusion and convenience with Chama only about 20 minutes away. Valerie’s preparation of the house and attention to detail were evident and provided for a wonderful stay without any surprises or disappointments…so we were able to relax and enjoy to the fullest.
This property is located within 20 minutes of anywhere you would like to go in the Chama surrounding area. Surrounded by forest, we saw an incredible amount of wildlife from a short distance away. Easy access and very clean that supports a wonderful environment
Easy to find with directions given and what a surprise at the location and condition of cabin. So clean and perfect for my husband and myself and brother and sister in law. They were pleased as we were! While we sat out on front deck there were deer that wandered up to fence and lingered for a while and ate some leaves.
It was so relaxing and peaceful the whole time we were there. The weather was so much cooler than where we’re from so what a pleasure! The serenity was so needed!
We’ll definitely be back with family ! Love all the room available too!
Thanks for responding promptly to my questions.
Wonderful place. Wifi very limited, but that was not an issue for me. The cabin is beautiful and well laid out. The property is magnificent. The deer wandering through the front yard was exciting. Lack of cooling not an issue at this elevation. Beautiful country well off the beaten path. Used the cabin as a base for riding the railroad and it worked out quite well.
This property is absolutely perfect. Valerie is very easy to communicate with and we will be staying once a year if possible. There is nothing better than staying in this place. Perfect getaway!!!
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Watching all the different wildlife walk right in front of the home. Property management was on point. We had a small issue and they were there within 15 minutes and had everything fixed and ready to go.
This property is spectacular. It is private and cozy. We enjoyed the town of Chama during the day and then enjoyed the evening together at the cabin. We will definitely be back.
The cabin was super clean, organized, and spacious. It has a warm ambiance with the candle like lighting. The kitchen is well equipped. Communication was excellent. Valerie gave clear and detailed directions to the cabin. There was also a binder with info on local events, nearby restaurants, and emergency contacts one might need. The hosts were thoughtful to leave several fans and detailed instructions on the timing and use of fans and windows to keep the home cool—which came in handy as our stay was during a heat wave. We would definitely like to come back.
Valerie is the best host ever! This is our 2nd time staying at one of her properties. Everything you could imagine needing was supplied for us. The cabin stays incredibly cool as long as you follow the instructions Valerie provides. We will definitely be returning to this property. It was a very nice getaway.
We loved staying in this cozy cabin in the woods. It wasn't too far from "town". It was beautiful and fun to explore the woods. We saw wildlife a few times. We took Beautiful photos. Highly recommend the coffee shop in town.
Lots of space for a family. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to make meals. Folder provided lots of information making everything easy. Very clean.
Beds were not the most comfortable for adults but the kids loved the bunk bed. Opening the windows didn't cool off the house as we are used to having it but its wasn't too bad. It would of been nice to have some shampoo because we were unable to bring it on the airplane. We didn't experience any issues during our stay.
My family and I had a wonderful time at your cabin. The house is beautiful and the location is perfect! You thought of everything one might need to enjoy a worry free stay! This was my first trip with my grandkids in many years and they loved every minute of it! We will most definitely be back. Thank you for for all the hard work you do ensure a peaceful stay!
Cabin was clean, and kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. The hand soap and bathroom spray were welcome touches. Will return again. Contacting Miss Valerie was pleasure to deal with.
We were greeted by the most breathtaking sunset on the day of our arrival (pink Brazos Cliffs) and on the final day of our trip many deer came to sent us off.
We loved the cabin! Very roomy, beautifully decorated, with thoughtful attention to detail. Everything we needed in the kitchen. Lots of puzzles, games and things to do. Really enjoyed a walk in the woods and down to the river.
Cabin was so well-equipped and comfortable! Decks are great for viewing wildlife. Very peaceful. This was a perfect place for a family get together - we would love to come back!
Cute cabin for a family vacation. Excellent value if you're able to fill all the beds.
Tips - stay focused on 512, lots of tiny animals with death wishes
- wifi was not functional, but we managed by using the network of the grocery store in Chama. If you have Google Fi like we do, you may not be able to make calls from the cabin
My husband Lee and I live nearby, along with my Australian Sheppard and Jack Russell that may come visit during your stay. We love this area and enjoy sharing information about our favorite places with guests so please don't hesitate to contact us with questions.
Why they chose this property
My husband Lee has a life long passion for elk hunting. He first came here in 1978, hunted many other places over the years, but continued to be drawn back to the Chama Valley area time and again and eventually bought property here in the Brazos Canyon. We had a 2nd home here and later became full time residents in what he calls his "favorite place in the whole United States".
What makes this property unique
The pace is slower here in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Elevation is 8,000 ft and we enjoy an ideal climate with 4 distinct seasons. There is snow in the winter, summers are cool, with very little wind. Most days the sun shines, so combined with the dry climate, it's usually comfortable outdoors. The home has radiant heat under the floors for the winter and we don't even need air-conditioning here in the cool mountains.
