Relaxing and cosy

Fantastic and cosy cottage next to the majestic River Thames what more could we ask for surrounded by the lovely villages of the cotswolds. Massive fenced garden for our German Sheperd Luther to mess about in and he loved it .

Great little base for exploring

We stayed at Honey Cottage as a couple with a toddler and our dog. We found it a to be a lovely cosy retreat and base for exploring the Cotswolds. Nice touches with some essentials being provided and a bottle of wine. A travel cot, high chair and extra towels were provided for our little one and clearly lots of thought has gone into making sure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. We shall be returning - thanks!

Anniversary weekend

We always book with Stay Cotswold whenever we stay in the area. We booked a last minute weekend break to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, and so happy we chose Honey Cottage. We don’t have any dogs so I was worried about booking a pet friendly property but there’s no way you could even tell. The decor was amazing, the bed was super comfortable, the location was incredible and great for site seeing in the area. However, the outside area is by far the best we’ve been offered in self catering, and the little touches from the owners made it extra special. We’re already planning to stay next door with some friends and actually make use of the paddle boarding and bbq area by the river too!

Lovely place

Perfect stay for us, the cottage is a lot bigger then it looks on the pictures and is in excellent condition. We didn't meet the owner(s) on our stay but they supplied us with a sunscreen when it got too sunny.

Lovely Cottage

I booked Honey Cottage for my husbands 30th birthday and it met all expectations. The location was great and the walk to the Thames is lovely. The weather wasn’t on our side, but it meant we were able to use the log fire. We arrived to a little box of necessities for our dog (bowls, towels etc) and a bottle of wine, biscuits, bread and butter for us which was a nice touch. We would recommend and stay again.

Absolute Gem!

We had a few days here and loved it. Honey Cottage is an amazing space in a beautiful location. Caroline was very helpful. We arrived at night to find the cottage lit up, warm with a lovely welcome pack! We will definitely be returning.

Lovely cosy cottage.

We had a lovely stay. The location is great but quite remote and the facilities are a great addition. The cottage is very cosy and it was a lovely garden to let the dog into without worrying. The only downside was it could have been a bit cleaner, there were quite a few cobwebs.

Cosy, compact and peaceful

We had a lovely weekend at Honey Cottage. Beautiful setting overlooking the fields and hills and just a short walk to the Thames. Super king size bed takes up most of the bedroom, so the separate dressing room was welcome. Bathroom is a bit small. Kitchen/living room was fine for two people and a small dog. Good sized secure garden.

A week at Honey Cottage

We have had a very nice stay in Honey cottage for a week. It is a fine place to be and from there exploring the beautiful surroundings. The garden furniture wasn’t comfortabel, especial the table and 2 chairs. (They weren’t tempting at all for using them) We surely can recommend Honey Cottage to our friends.

Perfect for a relaxing break

We loved Honey Cottage. It was perfect for our 2 night get away with our dogs. The cottage is beautifully decorated and comfortable. You can walk straight out of the cottage and across fields to a lovely pub on the river. We didn’t use it but ‘The Goose’ and paddle boards down by the river would be great if we return with a group. The managers replied promptly to enquiries before check in and the welcome wine and crumpets was a lovely touch. We would definitely recommend Honey Cottage.

Second visit to Honey Cottage

Love the location, second visit. Cottage showing signs of wear and could have been a bit cleaner. Chair very uncomfortable and should be replaced. Arm on toaster broken and none of the clocks working! All above said, we love the site on the Thames and the location, just would expect everything to be perfect given the price.

Honey Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at Honey Cottage. The cottage is set in beautiful countryside and has a very warm, cosy feel to it. The bed is unbelievably comfortable and it really does feel like home from home. Although there is a pub in walking distance across the fields you will really need a car to get to Faringdon and surrounding villages. We tried on two different days to get taxis to go out for dinner but they all seem to be single car/single driver companies without any availability - not the fault of the cottage at all just something to be aware of! There's a great walk along the River Thames and if you really just want something off the beaten track where you can be totally self catered for this is a great option. Only a small number of logs given for the fire so do stock up beforehand.

We’ll equipped cottage in great location for exploring the Cotswolds. Very comfortable bed. Sofa, as noted by other guests, is very uncomfortable - our only criticism.

Enjoying the Thames!

We loved our stay at Honey Cottage, so cosy and well placed. The grounds were gorgeous, and so peaceful, with plenty of room for the dogs. The fact that we could wander down to the Thames within the private grounds was a real bonus. The Thames path was easily accessible, with glorious walks each way, with plenty of pubs to try out! Just a fabulous location and we will return, perhaps with more of the family!

Honey Cottage - Disappointing

Despite not actually being in the Cotswolds, Honey Cottage is situated in a working farm with great views of the countryside and you can be in the Cotswolds within a 10 minute drive. The property itself is not quite the romantic getaway as advertised. What the photos do not show is the two properties either side of Honey Cottage. Both of which are much larger and dwarf you. One of these appears to be currently used long-term and many of their windows look out over the small garden area allocated to the cottage, not offering the privacy anticipated. Enjoying a glass of wine watching the neighbours doing their washing up wasn’t what I expected. The cottage is also quite dirty and very dusty (many week’s worth). With the all of the enhanced cleaning that should be taking place due to the Covid requirements, this was especially disappointing. It is also in a poor state of repair in places. We contacted the owner shortly after arrival to notify them of some minor breakages (to ensure we were not liable for them) but had no reply to our emails. In fact we had zero communication before or after our stay. We did have a follow-up email from the agent that clearly manages the property on behalf of the owners (StayCotswold) hoping we’d enjoyed our stay, but that was it. The decor is exactly as pictured and whilst it is very tasteful, the dark blue throughout the cottage makes a very small space seem even smaller. The bathroom is very cramped. The shower is great, but the positioning of the toilet means you can’t sit down without banging your knees against the side of the shower cubicle. The welcome parcel of eggs, crumpets, granola, milk, butter, biscuits etc. was a nice touch and the kitchen has everything you need for your stay (including a dishwasher)! The free wifi and Netflix on the TV were great but for the price charged, I do not think this property is good value. There are far nicer properties (many on the same farm) for a similar price. We ended up leaving a day early. Again, we notified the owner beforehand and there was no response. I would have at least expected them to ask why...
