About this property

Coastal 6 bedroomed property set in own farmland yet not far from ammenties.

Northend Farmhouse is a pre 1600 thatched building. Some parts were reconstructed after a fire in 1640. Features such as an Inglenook fireplace, old bread oven, wood burning stove and mullion windows combined with plenty of outdoor space, modern comforts and conveniences including 2 large flat screen TVs, mp3 stations and web access, a large kitchen with a bespoke refractory table that seats 14, the great hall with it's guarded Tudor mantled log fire, a large stone terrace with garden tables near the kitchen, secluded at the end of a private drive and in the middle of its 100 acre open access traditional farm and benefiting from a fenced lake, organic gardens, ducks, a downstairs shower to wash the kids down after so much outdoor fun create the ideal place for large family holidays and celebration weekends.

The sleeping arrangements are flexible with 5 double rooms (arranged with 3 doubles and 2 twins) and a room with 4 beds consisting of a twin and a bunk bed. Additional sleeping is acceptable by agreement.

Northend's view includes Golden cap, the 2nd highest point on the South Coast. Seatown is the local beach and has the only pub in rural beach location in the vicinity.

The hill behind the farm opens up a magnificent 360 degree view of the coast to and beyond Lyme Regis to the south west and Portland to the south east. To the north is the Marshwood Vale, a lush rich dairy vale surmounted by the Dorset peaks of Pilsdon, Lewsdon, and Coneys Castle. The Marshwood vale is the home of Denhay farm, famous for it's cheeses and bacon and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's TV series 'River Cottage'. The Marshwood vale is a haven for cyclists and walkers and the Shave's Cross pub situated in the middle is only an hours brisk walk from the farm for those that like to work up an appetite. The Activities in and around the Marshwood Vale are published in the free monthly Marshwood Magazine.

Wonderful family holiday
We arrived at the farmhouse on the 12th August 2022 for a week, family of 12 ranging from 5 years old to 84 and vinnie our Frenchie ..lovely box of fresh scones clotted cream and jam to greet us . The farmhouse was well equipped for our big family with everything we needed, the downstairs bedroom and ensuite was great for my dad, beautiful bedrooms with wonderful views, The games room was well used by us all plenty of games and a dressing up box for the kids and wigs for the adults 🤣 The weather was kind to us with only one day of rain on that day we visited local museum and churches Visited 3 lovely beaches and had lovely evening meals out at local pubs Also had a wonderful meal cooked at the farmhouse with us all sitting round the massive table, made good use of the BBQ on a couple of evenings with the kids playing in the lovely garden with no worries, can't fault the farmhouse for a family holiday, just what we all needed we did have a problem with one of the televisions not working but this was quickly sorted by Eddie If your looking for a family holiday then this is the place to go absolutely beautiful farmhouse in the most idyllic setting Thank you Eddie and team for a great stay xx

Lovely farmhouse for a chilled holiday
A lovely, well stocked farmhouse in a gorgeous location. Everything was clean if a little well worn, but this just meant we didn’t feel worried about the kids making themselves at home. Eddie was a hands off host but available when we needed any info.

Rustic farmhouse
A great place for a large family gathering - old rambling farmhouse with spectacular views. Great games room, good kitchen and eating space. Outdoor tables for outside eating aswell. House fairly dusty and garden rustic.

Storm Ciara Wkd - Uni Pals Reunion
Great house, well equipped with plenty of plates, cups and glasses. Really spacious with beautiful scenery. We had 6 children with us ranging in age from 2-10 and they loved the trampoline (which stayed pinned down in the storm) and all the big spaces to run and hide. We struggled a bit with the door locks on the downstairs loo & bathroom but other than that, all was good.

Family Christmas at this lovely farmhouse.
We had a lovely stay over Christmas at this rural farmhouse close to Bridport and Lyme Regis. After a few teething problems with the heating on arrival it was a lovely warm and cosy venue for nine of us plus three further guests for lunch on Christmas Day. The two lounge areas with their wood burners were very comfortable and the kitchen/dining room with its Aga was also a lovely place for family meals. The bedrooms were comfortable although we did need to request a replacement mattress for one of the double beds. That was promptly delivered which was some achievement two days before Christmas! Our only slight criticism is that the farmhouse could have been cleaner. Downstairs was ok but the bedrooms need a good clean. We had quite a few cobwebs in our bedroom which was the main bedroom. We accept that this is an old property but we still feel that it could, and should, have been cleaner. Eddie was a great host and we will certainly consider returning. The garden area was nice even in Winter and with the sun shining on Christmas Day we had pre lunch canapés outside on the patio. We are sure that in the Summer it will be lovely sitting there watching the sun set. It’s only a short drive to the beaches at West Bay, Charmouth and Lyme Regis and there are lovely countryside walks from the Farmhouse. Thanks Eddie. We hope to see you again.

Easter weekend
North End Farmhouse was a perfect venue for our family of 15 to spend the long Easter weekend and we were blessed with the most fabulous weather. The farmhouse was spacious and contained everything that we needed to enjoy our stay. The children loved playing in the garden and especially the trampoline. Living and bedrooms were all comfortable and everyone enjoyed eating around the large dining table. The farmhouse was perfectly situated close to the coast. We particularly enjoyed visiting the Hive beach at Burton Bradstock with its easy parking, café and facilities. Some of us enjoyed crabbing at West Bay. Overall a perfect venue for a large family gathering

a fabulous, secluded spacious home away from home.
We were a party of 12 and found Northend farmhouse really magical in its position at the end of a long winding drive so near to the ocean and surrounded by fabulous walks with a plethora of lovely beached nearby. Eddie welcomed us and was there to help when we needed it even providing us with a few forgotten items along the way! There was plenty of space for the 12 of us, the decor is simple and homely with some lovely pieces of furniture and little details. We had a fab time and would definitely recommend it for big groups, its a great party house!

Ken and family
We booked property for a big birthday for the whole family to get together. We were lucky with weather and the views from the garden were brilliant. With a wide age range in the party makeup the trampoline in the garden was well used by the younger members as well as the pool table. Accommodation very good and delivered the space we needed and the location was lovely and peaceful whilst beaches were only a short drive away. Eddie was the perfect host with the visit to the onsite micro brewery and for my 3 year old gran-daughter being lifted on to Eddie's daughter's horse was a highlight! Thank you for a wonderful break

Glorious countryside
Seemed a long way off main road but was no problem once used to it. Very comfortable, with a good feel about the house. Kitchen has plenty of crockery and easy to cook for lots of people.Comfortable beds. Plenty of parking space. A very good position near lots of lovely, interesting villages and towns. Some wonderful cliff top walks. Easy to use the buses with some walking. Possible to walk from the house although tracks not used much and need to be good with a map.

Great family holiday
We spent a week at the farm. There were 12 of us and a dog. This is a quaint thatched cottage with lovely views and peaceful setting. The outside fenced area was ideal fir the kids and dog. There was lots of space for everyone. We enjoyed lovely evening BBQs. On arrival we were greeted with a delicious cream tea! We would definitely go back.

Wonderful historic farm in incredible setting.
A fantastic place steeped in history, warm and peaceful in it's own farmland. Eddie and Clare couldn't have been more helpful and the 12 people and 2 dogs in our group had a wonderful time with beautiful walks, pubs on route and plenty of big meals around the fire when we returned from our adventures. We loved Hix restaurant in Lyme Regis and really enjoyed the Riverside Cafe in West Bay. The beer from Art brew, the microbrewery, was pretty good too. Planning something for the summer now as I hear Bridport has plenty of things happening.

Perfect Family Farmhouse Retreat !
North End Farm is an incredible historic farmhouse set in an idyllic English country-side setting. Perfect for large family gatherings with children. You can feel the ancient history of the property with it's thatched roof, massive stone fireplace and exposed beams. Out of every window is an inspiring uninterrupted view over rolling green hills. The house provided more room than we needed with plenty of common space for everyone. The beds and linens were perfect. The home was clean and comfortable with a giant farmhouse dining table as well as wonderful outdoor seating for all of us. The kids enjoyed playing in the fenced in garden while saying hello to the local family of ducks and sheep on the property. You have the best of both worlds - the privacy of a country retreat set on 100 acres combined with easy access to the sea and town. We enjoyed beautiful country drives along the Jurassic Coast. The property is only a 5-10min drive to Seatown and a short distance to the restaurants and sandy beach of Lyme Regis. The owners were gracious hosts and welcomed us with a box of wonderful fresh veggies from the garden. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with our family. An amazing relaxing retreat - we were sad to leave and look forward to returning!

Wonderful Family Reunion
We stayed at Northend Farm for the weekend and had 12 people sleeping over and 10 extra people visiting for the day. The accommodation was excellent with sufficient space for the whole family. The duck pond was a huge hit with the children! The bedding was just gorgeous! The location is typically British, with rolling hills and quiet country lanes and close to a lovely beach. Would highly recommend it for a family gathering with the 'wow' factor. Thank you. Jo
