About this property

Blue Pebble - Chic and comfortable retreat, near coastal path and local beaches

Blue Pebble is a modern detached annex to our home situated in a quiet location above the village of Mevagissey by the sea. Described by guests as a beautifully clean, stylish and comfortable space, the accommodation has it’s own entrance and private drive so there’s plenty of free parking, a bonus for those who find it difficult to drive through the busy narrow streets of the village.
A short walk to the spectacular coastal path or to the picturesque village where pubs, restaurants, galleries and shops cluster along the narrow streets, it’s the perfect base for exploring on foot. The sandy beaches at Polstreath and Pentewan, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are all within reasonable walking distance, or jump into the car and venture further afield to the famous Eden Project or visit the cathedral city of Truro. Whatever your interests there’s something for everyone to enjoy - you won’t be disappointed!
Returning to Blue Pebble you can relax and unwind. Cook a meal if you don’t fancy eating out. Cosy up on the sofa, read a book or watch your favourite film, enjoy a glass of wine on your own private patio watching the sun go down.
Detached annex with free parking outside. Reverse accommodation. Hall to ground floor bedroom with king size bed, wardrobe, en-suite electric shower, WC and basin. Doors from bedroom to private patio.
Upstairs to spacious open plan living area with beautiful panoramic views across the countryside. A well equipped kitchen with large breakfast bar and seating. Living area has a comfortable sofa, smart TV with access to Netflix, a writing desk, cloakroom with WC and basin. WiFi.

Cornwall is not flat, as with similar accommodation situated on the outskirts it’s a short walk down to the village and a longer uphill walk back depending on your level of fitness! not an issue for most but might be if you have limited mobility or you could drive down and use the public car parks. At Blue Pebble you have the advantage of parking outside your front door avoiding the need to navigate the narrow (and sometimes very busy) streets into the village.

A beautiful and comfortable base in a great location
Very well equipped, comfortably and stylishly decorated, we loved our week at Blue Pebble. Incredible welcome tray with biscuits, nibbles, teabags and milk and Prosecco in the fridge. Drinks and nibbles on the patio was the perfect start to our holiday. We loved having the living accommodation upstairs as it was flooded with light, with lovely countryside views and a great space to relax when the weather took a turn. The open plan was spacious and worked perfectly. Comfortable downstairs bedroom and en-suite, with doors to the pretty patio. Great location - an easy stroll down to Mevagissey harbour with various shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. We also visited the Lost Gardens of Heligan (5 mins), Eden Project (25 mins), Truro (30 mins - pretty town and stunning cathedral) and enjoyed some wonderful coastal walks. The Ferry from Mevagissey to Fowey was on our list but only ran on 1 day out of the 7 we were there due to weather, so worth keeping an eye on the schedule for that one. So we drove to Polkerris (great pub right next to a lovely sandy beach) and did a round walk to Fowey and back instead, which was also beautiful. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Spotless accommodation in a fabulous location.
We had a wonderful week at blue pebble - the cottage is well equipped, spotless, and perfectly located to visit Mevagissey on foot - the climb back up the hill kept us in shape! Thanks for the very generous welcome pack, much appreciated. The little garden terrace is perfect for a glass of wine at the end of the day. We explored the south west coastal path, walked to Heligan and kayaked out of Göran Haven. For fresh fish highly recommend Harvester seafood on Eliot street, st austell. Ferry trip to Foye well worth doing too!

Mevagissey Stay
Well what a fantastic property, spotless and had everything we needed. We arrived earlier than expected and after a short wait we're able to get in earlier than the advertised check in. The location is nice and quiet on the outskirts of Mevagissey and just a 10 minute stroll down to the harbour. The only (small) downside was the walk back up the hill to the accommodation which may not suit less mobile holiday makers but other than that it was perfect. Thank you!

Blue Pebble 3rd July
We were made very welcome by Pinky and Gary when we arrived and their property was immaculate. Everything that we needed for our stay was provided. The goodies that they left for us to enjoy were fabulous and very well received, thank you Pinky and Gary. The seagulls could be better house trained however LOL! We would definitely recommend the property and the location is perfect for exploring that area of Cornwall.

Fantastic Apartment
We had a lovely week staying in this fantastic apartment. It was absolutely immaculate and beautifully appointed. It has great views from the rear of the property over the surrounding countryside. Doors from the downstairs bedroom lead out on to a patio which gets the sun all day. Perfect for watching the sunset over a glass of Prosecco! The very generous welcome pack was a lovely touch and very much appreciated! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this apartment - you won’t be disappointed !

A Special Place
If I could score Blue Pebble 10 out of 5, I would. Pristine is the word to describe it. Everything was perfect. Thoughtful attention to detail. In close proximity to owners house but lovely private patio at the back. Also, as in most Cornish towns, the uphill walk back from the harbour is not for the faint hearted. Would I return here? Yes, yes, yes.

Wow what a location, the accommodation what just amazing. Well thought out and just felt like a home away from home. Easy access and great parking. Every morning you are greeted with such lovely views. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a chilled out break to Cornwall. Big thanks to Pinky and Gary

Just Perfect
Blue Pebble was light, bright, modern, clean, quiet and extremely well appointed. It immediately felt homely and we both commented that we could easily live here ourselves. Pinky proactively provided clear directions and instructions for self-check-in as well as useful supplementary information on places to eat. The welcome pack was also very much appreciated. Pinky really had thought of everything! It was a shame that while we were there, the weather precluded us from enjoying the patio that would normally see the sunsets over the valley. However, the views were lovely nonetheless. Having off street parking was also a major bonus. The location of the Blue Pebble was perfect for us - just a couple of minutes’ walk to the coastal paths, and 10 minutes’ walk down the hill into town, which is far easier to negotiate on foot than by car! We would love to return.

Perfect Cornish Getaway
Pinky and Gary's listing was even more beautiful, clean, homely and spacious as we imagined! If we could give it more than 5 stars we would. It was a short walk away from Mevagissey harbour, and within 15-30 mins' drive from plenty of local attractions (including Eden Project and Fowey). We cannot thank them enough for such a wonderful stay, and hope to stay again in the future!

About the host

Originally from London we wanted to get away from city life and live in Cornwall. We fell in love with Mevagissey and made it our home. All of Cornwall is lovely but we think Mevagissey is the most beautiful!

Why they chose this property

Mevagissey is a charming picturesque village once the centre of Cornwall’s pilchard fishery. Unlike many other coastal villages in Cornwall, Mevagissey it is not just a popular tourist destination but has a working harbour and retains a thriving fishing industry. The local restaurants and eateries source their seafood locally with menus determined by the catch of the day. It has a strong resident community and does not ‘shut down’ during the low holiday season but remains vibrant and welcoming throughout the year. This is why we chose to live in Mevagissey and be part of a close community which values and protects it’s history.

The accommodation is the ideal base for exploring on foot to the local beaches and along the extensive coastal path with stunning views. Discover smuggling ports and tiny hamlets along the way, then relax in a pub serving the finest Cornish ales and beer! It’s also the ideal central base for driving to various historic destinations such as Tintagel Castle, Charlestown, Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project and many others. For keen surfers Fistral beach is a forty minute drive away, described as one of the world’s top surfing destinations and a venue for major international competitions. Other sports available locally include kayaking and paddle boarding.
