Self catering holiday chalet Orisaigh

The two chalets, ‘Erisort’ and ‘Orisaigh’, are located within the village of Leurbost, in the North Lochs area of the Isle of Lewis, and a 10 minute drive from the main town of Stornoway.
Built from Siberian larch timber, each chalet sleeps 4 persons.

In addition to 2 spacious bedrooms, there is a fully fitted modern kitchen, a bathroom with shower, and a separate toilet. The open-plan dining and living room area commands extensive panoramic views over sea lochs and the hills of Lewis and Harris. Patio doors open onto an extensive decking area that is ideal for barbecues and outdoor dining. Both chalets provide wheelchair access and are suitable for individuals with impaired mobility.

The chalets are fitted with modern appliances and a WIFI connection is also available.
This is a truly inspirational place for all the family to enjoy their holiday and to return home with unforgettable memories of these magical Hebridean Isles.

Each chalet has an adjacent dog kennel and separate outhouse, which provides washing and drying facilities. Separate parking is available directly outside the chalets, with sufficient space for several vehicles. A licensed local shop, and petrol station, is conveniently situated within a short drive or 15 minute walk. The shop offers an extensive range of groceries and fresh daily produce. In addition, the shop complex features a hairdressing salon and small cafeteria.

As an additional attraction, guests will be able to enjoy the benefits of a well-fitted sheiling (bothy) called ‘Airidh Nisreabhal’, which is the Gaelic name for the nearby hill and loch situated in this majestic location. It is conveniently placed en-route to the famous and mystical ‘Callanish stones’ and is just a short 3 minute drive from the chalets. The sheiling provides an excellent vantage point for bird watchers and hillwalkers, or, alternatively, a place of tranquility and relaxation for surfers, fishermen, businessmen, honeymooners and indeed anyone else who would like to enjoy the peaceful island country life.


The Chalet is fitted with an Electricity meter which can be topped up at the local shop 1.5 miles away.

Beautiful get away on Isle of Lewis

Just a 15 minute drive to town and a beautiful redone chalet was the perfect island getaway. Well stocked kitchen and a lovely retreat with stunning views. Highly recommend if you want a peaceful and comfortable place to stay.

Great North Island Getaway

We enjoyed our time at the chalet, sitting on the deck for the amazing view. Quick jaunt into Stornaway if you want and right at the road up to Carloway for touring the North end of the island.

Beautiful spot!

Great location, easy short drive into town but far enough out to be peaceful and quiet. Cabin overlooks a lovely loch. Cabin has lots of space. We didn’t cook, but if you wanted to the kitchen is huge and fully equipped. You do have to pay extra for your electricity, but for such a reasonably priced accommodation it wasn’t an issue for us.

A beautiful base

We stayed for a week for my husband's birthday. Very well equipped and comfortable chalet with just about everything you could need. The dog enjoyed his stay too. Very helpful hosts and some really thoughtful touches. We'll stay again next time we visit Lewis and Harris.

Fabulous lodge, well provided for self catering. Views amazing. Comfy bed. Local shop 5 min drive, so bring all you need. Tesco as you come off ferry. Only down for us was decking area not gated for dog, so not as dog friendly as we would have liked ..

Beautiful chalet, well positioned with everything you need and a great view out onto a loch. Hosts very welcoming and helpful. Short drives to amazing places. If planning to cook, a good idea to stock up at the supermarket in Stornaway prior to making your way there. Highly recommended.

Stunning Loch Views in a Cozy Outer Hebrides Chalet

This place is a gem - everything you need for your adventure in the Western Isles! Primary bedroom has a wonderful large and comfortable bed. Secondary bedroom two comfy singles. Lots of space for a family or multiple travelers. Kitchen is very well stocked. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the island, and Christine's dinner suggestions were incredibly helpful (we can recommend the Langoustine appetizer at the Boat Shed restaurant in Stornoway!). Cozy living space with nice radio, TV, local books/magazines, couch and comfy chairs to relax after a day exploring nearby archaeological sites: Calanais Standing Stones, Carloway Broch, stunning beaches like Dhail Mhor (Lewis) and Luskentyre (Harris). The Isle of Harris Distillery is a must - wonderful local warmth and culture, world class Gin and outstanding Single Malt Whisky 'The Hearach' - a historic first for the island. We can't wait to come back. Thanks to Donald, his mother Christine and the whole family for sharing this treasure with the world!

Top Unterkunft trotz teurem Strom

Die Unterkunft war top, Sauberkeit hätte besser sein können. Die Lage ist auch gut (Insel ist ja klein genug um alles schnell mit dem Auto zu erreichen). Einzigster negativ Punkt ist die Art und Weise der Stromnutzung. Je nach dem wie viel Verbraucht wird muss dafür nochmal extra bezahlt werden und das passend und in Bar. Dies wurde vorher nicht kommuniziert weshalb wir negativ überrascht waren. Bei dem hohen Preis sollte der Strom mit drin sein, gerade in der kalten Jahreszeit wo Außentemperatur = Innentermperatur ist. Die Vermieterin ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Nettes Cottage mit schöner Aussicht

Das Cottage ist sehr reichhaltig ausgestattet. Wir hatten einen netten Aufenthalt, der Vermieter war sehr freundlich mit jeder Menge Tipps für die Insel. Einzig ein wenig störend war bei Regen das Geräusch der Regentropfen auf dem Dach, da wäre eine bessere Schallisolierung angenehm.
