We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at La Cordonaise. Sylvie and Alain were very welcoming, helpful and made us feel like friends.
The property is beautiful, the pool was perfect during the heatwave, and the dogs, chickens and cats added extra entertainment.
The room was spacious and the bed was super comfortable ( we stayed in Roselyne) .
The bathroom is up to date and we loved opening the huge windows in the main room to let in the breezes.
The breakfasts were so delicious- a real treat. There were so many yummy foods to choose from every morning.
The location is perfect to visit so many places. To the north , The Grande Pointe for some WW11 history. Soulac -sur- mer for some classic beach town, market and the best beaches.
To the south, Forte Médoc for some history, the larger town of Pauillac for some fine dining and grocery shopping.
To the west Lac D’Hourtin to picnic, swim and watch the sailboats go by. Along the coast is the surfing area Le Pin Sec; more beautiful beaches. Archeological dig sites, ruins and an ancient Abby in ruins are just 15 minutes or less drive away.
There is a waterfront restaurant that serves delicious seafood about 5 minutes away in La Marachel- a definite must when staying at La Cordonaise, we went twice!
Everywhere around La Cordonaise are fields full of grapevines. It is quite a site to see, only matched by the incredibly beautiful Chateaux that perch among the vineyards and are greater in number than the church spires that pop out of each little village and town.
Visit as many Châteaux as you can. You only need one , maybe 2 tours but tastings give you a good idea of the variety of wines available.
Your stay at La Cordonaise can be relaxing or busy or somewhere in between.
Not forgetting Bordeaux is just over an hour away and they have park and ride programs so you don’t even have to drive in the city!
Enjoy!
