The property was perfect for four couples, though be mindful that all bedrooms require climbing stairs, with 2 on second flour and 2 on the third.
The house was nicely appointed and the kitchen was well equipped. We cooked several meals in the house and didn't want for any appliances or utensils. There was no drip coffee maker, but the french press was perfect for us. We loved that the house had a separate washer and dryer, both of which worked well.
We enjoyed sitting in the back patio/courtyard area in the evenings ... especially when we could hear jazz coming from one of the area establishments.
Bathrooms: It was nice to have a water closet on the ground floor. Be aware that there is one shower in the 3rd floor bathroom that all who want to shower will have to share. There is a handheld showerhead installed in the 2nd floor bathtub, but it is lower and there is no shower curtain. Both full bathrooms had double sinks, which was nice. There was one hair dryer between the two full bathrooms.
Location: We felt Amboise was more quaint and slower paced than neighboring Tours and Blois. Access was easy and the arrangement worked well for four couples coming and going, sometimes together/ sometimes not. It's a full 20 minute walk to the train station, but the Max Earnst bus station is a very short walk and the bus ride to/from the train station is about 4 minutes. From there, it's a quick 8 minute train ride to Tours for easy access to the rest of the Loire River Valley. It's also an easy walk to: a market, pharmacies, bike rental, tourism center, shops and restaurants galore, and attractions (Chateau d'Amboise, Château du Clos Lucé).
Susan was great about communicating in advance, quickly answering whatever questions we had. There were also local property managers that responded quickly to a question we had.
Would definitely recommend!
