Stunning one bedroom annexed cottage located in the idyllic hamlet of Charleton near St Andrews and boasting a golf course.

The property sits in truly enchanting gardens and is an oasis of charm enhanced by the sound of the babbling brook and resident songbirds. Views extend over these gardens, across the Charleton golf course and over the Firth of Forth to Berwick Law.

The accommodation is as restful as the location with comfortable open plan living and spacious bedroom facilities. Picture windows offer unrestricted views as an alternative to watching internet enabled smart TV from the reclining sofa. Free wifi is available.

Outside, guests can enjoy the expansive grounds and water features of the main property as well as their own private garden and barbecue area. Alternatively they can stroll up to the stables.

The East Neuk is packed with history, culture and interest and offers the very best in food and outdoor activities including walking, water sports, fishing, golf and riding to name but a few. Historic St Andrews is a 25 minute drive while bustling Edinburgh is only an hour away

The East Neuk (corner) of Fife is an area full fantastic of attractions, events, festivals, outdoor activities and breath taking beaches. Quaint and picture perfect this area is renowned for its charming fishing villages and harbours such as Crail, Anstruther and Pittenweem.

Fishing has been a staple in the life of the East Neuk villages for generations and if you’re up early enough, you can witness the bustle of the harbours in the morning as the boats land their daily catch of prawns, lobsters and crabs of the highest quality. Alternatively you can enjoy the very same seafood in some of the very best restaurants Scotland has to offer.

Explore the fascinating culture and history of the East Neuk along with its historic castles (some reputably haunted) where you enjoy can fine interiors and enchanting walled gardens with woodland and meadow walks. Alternatively grab some exercise with a range of first rate outdoor activities to suit all ages. Take a walk along the Fife Coastal Path to admire the beautiful coastline Or you can uncover some prime diving sites in the Firth of Forth, set sail to the rugged Isle of May or try out activities such as archery, abseiling and kayaking.

Short break

The property was very comfortable and attractively furnished. Two observations (which are not criticisms but where improvement could be made for the comfort of visitors) - the fridge / freezer is small and the fridge compartment being at floor level is not easy for an elderly person to access. There should be either a dressing table in the bedroom (where the recliner is) for the benefit of ladies who want to put on make-up and / or a table of some sort where suitcases can be put.

Communication with hosts excellent they were there if needed but respected personal space An oasis away from home it was all the wee personal touches that made it from information manual which explained everything we required to make our stay smooth to biscuit waiting next to cups on arrival Will definitely recommend and hopefully return in near future

Relaxing at the Doocot

Elaine gave us a lovely welcome, both in person and with her very thoughtful welcome basket. The property is in a beautiful, peaceful location with easy access from the main road. Only sounds were the gurgling of the nearby stream in the garden and the birds.Everything was sparklingly clean and very comfortable.

Down the lane to heaven

Ideal location for exploring Fife's east neuk

The cottage was very comfortable, with all that we required and an ideal base for us to stay. Set in a lovely quiet garden to enjoy. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. We would thoroughly recommend the Doocot.

A Place of Heaven

We had a fantastic time at the Doocot the peace and quiet was prefect there was nothing to fault we fully recharged our batteries and Elaine and Robert were great hosts there if you needed them would definitely return.

Quiet Rural Escape

Located in the hamlet of Charleston, the apartment is as described on the site and has lovely gardens. The kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of hot water and towels. We found the bed very comfortable. The welcome pack was very useful as there is no shop in easy walking distance. The bar at the golf club was closed on the Friday evening we walked down. It's about half a mile walk to the bus stop on the main road. Would recommend.

Relaxing peaceful cottage

We have just returned from Doocot. The welcome pack was wonderful and I enjoyed the wine on our first night. Elaine & Robert are so friendly and make you feel welcome. They give you all your own privacy, when you are in the gardens. Ideal position for lots of areas. We saw lots of wildlife. Can't wait to return.

Perfect in every way!

What a lovely little cottage..attached to the main house but with all the privacy you would want. A warm welcome from the hosts and the welcome pack was great. We were relaxing on the little patio with a cool glass of wine within minutes of our arrival. The owners were friendly and encouraged us to share their beautiful gardens. Sparkling clean and great shower. The bed was very comfy and the cottage had everything you would want for a relaxing getaway. Don't hesitate to book!

Brilliant stay

We have just enjoyed a 3 night stay with our little baby and really loved the property. The bathroom was newly fitted and was to a high standard, the shower is a large over head one and was very relaxing. The place was well equipped and covered everything from take away menus to a thoughtful welcome basket of milk, wine, eggs, bread and biscuits. There is space to park and lovely grounds to have a walk around. Lovely and peaceful with plenty of phesants and birds chirping away. The tv is modern,the bedroom spacious with a very comfy matress and the kitchen well with utensils. Highly recommend a visit and I'm sure we will be back. The owners were also very friendly Thank you for a lovely trip Mark,Lauren and Robyn x

Sehr schöne Wohnung in toller Lage. Geschmackvoll und modern eingerichtet, super sauber, wirklich alles vorhanden was man braucht. Wonderful stay!

We enjoyed an extended stay at the Doocot and felt right at home. From the first day, when they gave us a generous welcome basket, then throughout our stay, hosts Elaine and Robert were attentive and responsive to our comfort and needs. Their property is beautiful, quiet and restful while being conveniently close to Elie, Lundin Links, Crail and St. Andrews. We enjoyed a lot of golf and had a comfy bed and warm room to rest up for the next round!

Toller Urlaub an einem Ort zum entspannen. Great place to relax.

Thanks a lot to Elaine our landlord for the week we spent in Scotland. Elaine and her husband Robert are the people you like immediately and want to have a wee dram of whisky with. It is such a lovely place where you can switch off your busy days at the office or elsewhere. The Doocot is a really nicely furnished place where you feel at home in the moment of arrival – and even better when you live in a city close to an airport and a busy motorway. It’s a quiet place far away from noisy neighbours where you can easily recharge yourself. Zusätzlich für unsere deutschsprachigen Landsleute und Nachbarn in Österreich und der Schweiz sei erwähnt, dass The Doocot ein hervorragender Startpunkt für die Erkundung Schottlands mit dem Auto ist. Loch Ness, Culloden und Doune Castle (Outlander Leser und „Fernseher“ wissen was gemeint ist), Stirling Castle, Edinburgh und vieles mehr - alles kein Problem. Die Anreise mit dem eigenen Auto über Amsterdam nach New Castle mit der Fähre und dann weiter mit dem Auto auch kein Problem. Alles in allem ein gelungener Urlaub.

A beautiful little hideaway.

A beautiful cottage in the beautiful countryside. Our lovely host had fresh bread, eggs, milk and wine waiting for us. We would not hesitate to stay again or reccomens the cottage.
