The best part about this rental is the location. Walking on the beach every morning was awesome! Having beach chairs available was nice, as we enjoyed exploring the barrier island beaches.
The house is cute and quirky, but in need of some love. The couches in the living area are actually outdoor furniture, and one is so stained I bought a blanket to cover it. The master king sized bed is comfortable, but the guest bed is a double(very small for a couple!) and the pullout in the basement should come with a free chiropractor appointment. The deck and steps are in need of a hard sanding and weather sealing- we would not walk on them without sandals! The kitchen is the size of a postage stamp- reasonably well equipped, but tough to cook in for more than 2 people. We had our 3 kids with us for a week, and it was tight.
Our biggest issue was ongoing pool, deck and stair construction next door. It began with trucks arriving by 6-7am, and by 7:30 the backhoe revved up, the tile saw whirred, and any thought of sleeping in on vacation was over. When I emailed the real estate manager about it, concerned that our adult kids would be awakened at 7am while on vacation, she said the owner was at the property in late January and though the construction was almost done. To us, therein lies the problem. The owners had knowledge that the construction was still happening the week we arrived, and yet never spoke to us about it. In fact, after forwarding a video of the noise at about 8am one morning, we never heard a word from the owner in the entire month we stayed there. We understand that no one can control what their neighbors do, but honesty is important in a business transaction, and we felt quite played.
