About this property
85 M2 Antique Open Airy, Damai Yoga Apartment + Wifi / Balcony / Garden / Pool
Apartment Damai (85 m2) , renovated Nov. 2022 (please ignore the old reviews), offers a very nice, trendy yogi style interior with a large sliding glass door to the terrace. We provide a western toilet for short (kids) + tall people, a refrigerator, a cooker, a single hot plate and some kitchen utensils.
In the center section there is a king size bed with a mosquito net and a ceiling fan. At the time it was our choice to leave the beautiful high ceiling with wood construction in sight, which can also be seen in the photos, but comments from a number of guests that sometimes insects and dust and small animal droppings came down, made us decide to install a ceiling after all. However, this ceiling has no effect on the spacious living room.
Behind the colorful curtain at the entrance is a long mirror, to be covered by the curtain when not in use.
In the separate small bedroom 1 single bed (and a single mattress for on the floor) and it has AC, but you will not need it, except for illness and staying in bed during the day. The nights are quite cool.
Next to the door of this separate sleeping rom is a small desk with a chair, which cab be moved to the ac sleeping room according to guests preferences.
In the garden of the guesthouse is a beautiful swimming pool, including baby pool, that guests of our apartment can use. Normally almost nobody is there. There is no daily maid service or daily change of beds and towels.
Please note that although our house is on the compound of the guesthouse, it is not part of the guesthouse.
Plastic regulations : Bali started not providing plastic bags anymore in the shops. To avoid using more plastic than necessary we provide water cans for gallons. You can buy gallons at the store, Alin Mart, for 20.00 Rupiah, a bit more then one euro, at the beginning of the alley, intersection Jalan Hanoman / Gang Anilla, about 200 meter from our house. This is also the distance to the road with traffic, so no noise in the house from that street.
About the cooking: for cooking you can use whatever is left in the gas bottle, but you have to buy gas yourself (small bottles cost about Rp. 25.000) in a nearby shop.
Our apartment is reasonably priced, even cheap at the moment for this wonderfully central and quiet location, along a river, far enough from the central streets, overlooking rice fields from the garden of the guesthouse, so as not to be disturbed by traffic noise from Jl Monkey Forest and Jl Hanoman streets beyond, besides of the parked motorbikes by guests of the hotel or your neigbour on the other floor in the house. Close by are many yoga places within walking distance and it is in the middle of expensive hotels. One of the reasons is that we like to work with the local people and staff of the guesthouse, but depend on their standard of cleaning and use of bed linen. Everything is always washed in launderettes, but it occasionally happens that a spot or hole is still visible. You can also bring clothes to wash to the laundry under the reception of the White House reception. We are not part of it so it's up to you if you use this laundry or another one. The same for rentals. The White House rents out motorbikes as well. If you rent it we advise you to take pictures or make a film from the situation to avoid discussion about damages. There is sometimes a somewhat lower water pressure in the area, which our house has to deal with temporarily or sometimes there are event moments there is no (hot) water for a while (please report this to the guesthouse and often they know how to fix it in a minute, sometimes longer, or not for a short moment). Also the WiFi is sometimes less fast, then it's often faster in the reception, where are chairs and tables ti use, but sometimes it is also at the reception a bit less. The foregoing is not always the case as standard, but only incidentally, but we still want to have it reported all to avoid discussions and we have therefore adjusted the rate accordingly and kept it low; for us it is important that guests know in advance what they can expect and also want to remove what can stand in the way of a nice review.
We love to mention a few more points, good to know, which are different as western standards about the Asian, Indonesian standards according cleaning for instance. Things need sometimes some more attention as the staff sometimes forget some things to clean, as fridge or kitchen. Also the humidity is sometimes mentioned over the years, especially in the wet season. , The water supply, sometimes shortly no pressure (monkeys adjust sometimes the outside tap) or less pressure, The monkeys, which are sometimes around are nice but can be annoying too. Trying to steal your fruits for instance. What we mention is all complaints which some guests over the last 10 / 15 ! years told us in what they had different expectations. This because we love to host happy people with five star reviews who appreciate the house, space and location and try to avoid disappointment and high expectations in the mentioned things for this low price 🙏🏾.
The space is enormous for this location and the price is super low in that way but the other points are what they are !
Good to know about asking for services in the reception of The White House. We share the income with the White House 50/50 so they are willing to help you if you need something and would love it if you also inform us to support on a distance.
But we are usually 6 hours ahead in Europe 😎 so better arrange it with the well willing staff of the White House.
We are convinced that it is a very nice, peaceful and relaxing stay in our accommodation.
Our apartment is on the compound of a guesthouse and you get to the apartment through the reception of the guesthouse, past the place where mopeds and bicycles can be parked, from where you can see our house immediately, because it borders the ground of our house. Cars cannot park nearby, they must be parked elsewhere in special parking lots, because along the street is not possible.
In the garden, next to the entrance of the top apartment of the house, is an iron gate with 'Villa Cinta" on it: behind it are the steps that lead to the apartment 'downstairs'. The apartment consists has many interior detailed Balinese furnishings, organic lime walls, antique doors and huge windows. Pleasant, open spaces, colorful pillows, fan, mosaic tiled bathroom, hot water, western style toilet, a kitchen area with a fridge downstairs. Free Wifi around the house available.
Available for long term too. In that case better inform first via social network as fb at KC Godrie. The two apartments in the villa are connected, in case of renting the whole villa by a convenient stairway, lockable by a solid door from both sides. Please treat the place with respect and we ask you kindly not to smoke in the whole house. Please expect a beautiful decorated different house but don't expect a super clean house. Towels, sheets, bed covers, broom and cleaning materials are in the house available as well as pans, cutlery, plates, glasses etc but .... since the White House manages the place things might disappear or need more deep clean during a period nobody stays there and end up in the restaurant, it's kitchen or in other rooms. Also towels, sheets, blankets, sometimes even fans or the juicer end up somewhere where they thought they could use it and borrow .... so, we apologise for this situation but didn't manage in 8 years to change this. But when you ask everything will be there again. :-) We take it as part of their culture. :-)
There is always a possibility some tiny insects or geckos can come in, but that is part of living in the tropics; you will find it anywhere in Indonesia. We are sometimes surprised guests mention it to us because it is such a common thing, but still we want to inform you ahead.
Casey lives here mostly a few times a year one month and doesn't get bothered by mosquitos. Burning a mosquito coil during the day when you're not there, under the ceiling fan avoids to need anything to use when you're there or sleep. You can add electric hit anti mosquito tool(s) and the provided mosquito nets too of course.
