Simple the best

This was by far the best, well appointed self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. They had literally thought of everything, and more!! The extra touches made our stay feel even more special. It is beautifully decorated and the views are just stunning. We will definitely be back

Fabulous View and Much More

The view is incredible, no matter the weather. The location in a quiet rural area was ideal for us. However, the Hoods lodging itself is also fabulous. The renovation of the old milking parlor was done so well. It is lovely to see the old features preserved, along with having all the mod cons. The property is comfortable, clean, and very well maintained. The owners are on site and communication with them was wonderful. We are eagerly looking forward to our return.

Perfect in every way !

A stunning holiday home with a beautiful view. Danette has thought of everything and has clearly put so much love into making the perfect place for a holiday. There are lovely natural toileteries and the most abundant hamper to welcome you along with very cute chickens trotting around!

Wish we could take the view home

If you manage to get a holiday at Hoods with all the return guests your in for a treat! The accommodation is lovely. Homely, spacious, everything my french chef husband needed in the kitchen. Ample parking and huge deck (i must confess we took our LaFuma sun lounges,) and a wonderful view. The owner is easy to talk too and has put a lot of thought into the property. There is an amazing farm shop just up the road and plenty to see and do in the local area, including walks of different kinds.

Excellent place for a break

This was our second visit to Hoods and this time for a longer break of a week. The design of the conversion is well done and the attention to detail in making the property a lovely place for a break stands out. It is contemporary and comfortable with extensive views out over the countryside from the main living area. The property is located half way between the coast to the south and the higher hills of Dorset to the north and you will need a car to reach the main attractions and the facilities of Bridport. However, with the views and the comfort, there is no rush to leave the house! We have already booked for next year.

Healing Hoods

From the moment we walked through the door, the strains & stresses of the world outside vanished. Hoods has been wonderfully imagined & beautifully adorned by Nick & Danette, who are the perfect hosts. Gazing across the valley to Colmers Hill it feels as if you’re miles from anywhere but a 10 minute drive takes you to bustling Bridport or sumptuous Symondsbury and in 20 mins you can be walking on the beach. 5 minutes in the other direction takes you to Lewesdon Hill, the highest point in Dorset, with spectacular views. What’s not to like? Our advice is to stay away from Hoods - we want to keep it for ourselves!!

Amazing Dorset Retreat

Hoods is an absolutely amazing place to stay for a visit to the Jurassic Coastline. Superior standard of accommodation with breathtaking views across to Colmers Hill (Symondsbury Estate). There is an enclosed garden which was ideal for our 2 dogs. So many great restaurants and coastal walks within 10-15 minutes drive and lots of Hill Forts too ! Probably the best ever cottage rental we've had and would wholeheartedly recommend it - hoping to visit again soon !

High quality accommodation in lovely location

Our stay at The Hoods was excellent. The house itself was high quality and the views amazing. It was a peaceful location but still close to the coast and beaches. Would certainly recommend to friends and family

Wonderful place to stay - especially if you have a dog!

This was our second stay at Hoods because we love it! A beautiful, well thought out property with wonderful views. The completely enclosed garden is ideal for our dog. We relax from the minute we arrive - helped by the lovely food hamper!

Such a nice place !

Invited to a wedding party we decided to book a getaway. How incredibly lucky we were to have chosen Hoods! Such an exceptionally nice place to stay and discover this wonderful part of the world. The location, the comfort, the personal touches, it’s all just perfect. Thank you so much. We hope to be back together with our two little dogs who loved it as much as we did!

A Great Find……

When we arrived at Hoods we were blown away with it. The accommodation is perfect, so much thought and effort has been put into the design of this place and everything is top quality. It is well stocked in the kitchen with many utensils that it’s pretty much home from home. The beds are really comfortable and there has been no expense spared on the bedding either. Attention to detail is key with this place, The views are amazing and the place has a lovely relaxing feel to it. We felt at home immediately. On arrival there was a hamper waiting for us which was very generous, filled with local produce too. I cannot recommend Hoods enough, it is the perfect getaway in a lovely peaceful location. And if you stay here, don’t forget to book yourself on the wine tour at Furleigh Estate which is literally a 10 minute walk from the property.

Escapism in comfort and luxury

A fabulous place that feels like your own little idyll away from the hustle and bustle of life. Bright, airy well designed property which is of a high-standard with high-quality finished and everything you could want available to you. Perfected located for exploring so much of the sights of Dorset from beaches, places and villages to National Trust places, houses and gardens.

Breathtakingly beautiful and totally perfect.

From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, our stay was wonderful. We have stayed in many holiday lets and Hoods exceeded them all on every count. Every room was beautiful, from the tropical leaves rug and pineapple lamp in the bedroom, to the view from the bath and the gorgeous, bright living space. The views from all around the property are stunning and it is an extremely relaxing place to stay. We visited Lyme Regis (use the park and ride) National Trust properties - Montacute, Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy. West Bay (great for ice cream and fish and chips). The Symondsbury Estate, lovely artsy shops, a cafe, cute farm animals and various walks. We had meals at The Three Horseshoes (Burton Bradstock). The Pink Goat (Corfe Castle) and The Pilot Boat Inn (Lyme Regis). There are many wonderful farm shops very close by, we went to Washingpool and Felicity’s. The weather was glorious for our entire week and the hosts at Hoods are very friendly should you need anything. Thank you for the generous welcome hamper and for a holiday which was just what we needed, especially after being desperately ill with Covid earlier in the year. We will be back, Vicki, Iain and Fraser xxxx

Perfect getaway

We had an amazing week at Hoods. The house is beautiful….a lot of love and care has been taken to ensure everything you could possibly need or want has been carefully chosen and provided. The decor is gorgeous with everything immaculate and spotlessly clean. When we arrived there was delicious hamper waiting, thoughtfully curated with everything required to get us started and some luxury items too! The view from the house is absolutely stunning and we loved seeing the cows in the field below each day. The garden area was secure allowing our two little dogs to run around safely (and bark at the cows!) The house is perfectly located too, plenty of beautiful places to visit, good restaurants and cafes and the nearby beaches are exceptionally clean and most are dog friendly. Hoods is one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in and we can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely Perfect

This was my 1st booking through Dorset Hideaway and I must say I was very impressed with the customer service. In regards to our stay at Hoods, the title says it all. We were blessed with glorious weather which was the icing on the cake. All I can say is the place is truly gorgeous, from the decor to the location, not forgetting the most lovely host Danette , she was very responsive to my questions both prior and during our stay, her warm greeting when we arrived and knowing anytime we needed something she was available ( without being intrusive). Did I mention the peace and tranquility of the place ........... We will be back without a doubt. :)
