The Views!
Amazing location with great views! Sibling trip. We enjoyed historic downtown Durango, a day trip to Telluride did not disappoint, and a hike at Bear Creek. Can't wait to come back to Colorado!

Extreme Views and Comfortable Living
I cannot think of anything I would want to change about this home. You are secluded but people are nearby. We chose the home in anticipation of the mountain views and we were rewarded! The location is perfect for exploring. Thank you to the lovely family who is sharing their home with us. Durango Vacation Rentals were great to work with.

Great time
We had a lot of fun staying at this property. The views are really great, nothing like looking out at views of mountains and green trees from the deck. There were just a few things that could have been cleaned better, but overall it was great. The internet is slow, but we were able to use our 5G for a hotspot if we needed it to be faster. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking pots and pans. It was nice that the house is secluded, but yet not far from Durango to where you can take a trip into town. The property owner was very responsive to all questions. We definitely had a great time.

Deer Trail Home above Durango
The only reason this didn't get 5 stars, was the internet (and thus the TV feed) was really poor most of the time, even when the weather was sunny. Otherwise, this was a fantastic place to stay, and we'd consider it again. The views are spectacular, the privacy and furnishings were terrific as well. The morning view of the mountains in the distance, and the night time view of the stars made this a wonderful experience.

Great cabin in a beautiful location. Our family loved morning coffee on the deck looking out at the mountains. The cabin was very comfortable and provided a perfect base for our trip. Would absolutely stay there again.

Peaceful and comfortable home with wonderful views. Such a lovely place to stay - it's a real home so the kitchen was incredibly well stocked which was a joy. Peaceful and remote but also 20 minutes from town.

Beauteous Maximus!
We absolutely loved this house! It was perfect for an extended stay with our family. We couldn't have asked for a better spot from this to explore the San Juan's--whether hiking, fishing, biking, riding the train, or taking in nature (lots of birds and, if you're fortunate, possibly a bear). The views from the house are amazing. The beautiful mountains and woods surrounding the home leaves one in awe of nature and in disbelief that one is fortunate enough to be spending time at this lovely place. The communal areas are inviting and the private spaces are comfortable. We prepared most of our meals here--and the kitchen is well stocked. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend time with our family this summer!

Scenic, clean and large!
I awoke the first morning, looking out the master bedroom windows over the San Juan foothills covered in fog, seemingly above the clouds. Breathtaking views. Lost of bathrooms for all your family. Remote enough to feel cozy, close enough to town to grab coffee.

Magnificent Views
Both the management company and owner gave me a call before our stay and made us feel so welcome. Well stocked with towels, soap and kitchen supplies. Comfortable beds too! My only issue was the grill which was not functioning properly. Propane tank full but heat output very low. But no worries we used the stove!

nice house but needs attention
The views from the house are spectacular. The kitchen was well equipped and the furniture was comfortable. When looking for a place to stay in Durango, we wanted to find something close to town and this house seemed perfect. It is is fairly close to town but the dirt/gravel road the last couple of miles is bumpy and uncomfortable. The house is in need of a good cleaning. There was quite a bit of dust on the baseboard heaters and windowsills. I didn't read all the reviews carefully before booking or I would have noticed that reviews in September 2018, June 2018 and July 2017 all mentioned problems with housekeeping. Since a cleaning fee is required, one expects a clean house. The kitchen had 3 lights that were burned out along with a lamp in one of the downstairs bedrooms. I located replacement bulbs easily and changed the bulb in the lamp but a ladder was needed to change the ones in the kitchen. The mattresses in the downstairs bedrooms are too soft and need replacing.

Beautiful property!
We had a great time here, and the place is amazing! Incredible views! Nicely maintained, well-equipped home. Far enough from town to get a true get away from it all feel, but a fifteen minute drive to Durango gets you back to civilization. We would absolutely rent again!

Breathtaking views!
This was an absolutely gorgeous property. The drive in is rough gravel, but once you get there the views take your breath away. The beds were fine and sheets were clean. There were some pet stains on the bottom story carpet and bed skirt, but the rooms were well decorated with great views. Unless you want the bunk room...this is the only reason it didn't get more stars. The bunk bed is shoved into a dark laundry room (one with no windows) and it totally creeped my kids out and they ended up on the floor in our room. It's not another bedroom, it's a basement laundry with a bunk bed. Other than that, it was a lovely property. Great space to roam, comfortable living and dining, great deck (though watch your toes because there are some loose and warped boards.) Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware. Downstairs bath was tiny, but the hall closet had plenty of towels, blankets and pillows. I would definitely come back to this property, provided I didn't need the bunk room. The 10 min drive into town made it perfectly remote, but easily accessible. We enjoyed our time here thoroughly. Thank you!

Fantastic view!
The property is remote with great views and wildlife. Well worth the trip up the canyon. Well appointed home, great deck area and relaxing atmosphere. There are a lot of activities in the area and something to keep everyone entertained. My only complaint is the general cleanliness of the home. It's in need of a deep clean and the mattresses could use updating. Other than that, everyone enjoyed the stay.

House needs TLC but with amazing views
The view from the back deck was phenomenal. Great view of the mountains. However we could hear highway noise from the nearest road. The house needed much TLC. There were dead bugs in the corners of several rooms, cobwebs, dirty bathtubs, filthy baseboards,e tc. They also had a replaced the flooring in the living and dining rooms, but did not adddress the transition to the kitchen tile, which left about a 1/2 inch lip that everyone kept tripping over or stubbing their toe on. In addition, they placed rugs over the tile in the kitchen and on the wood floors which was a huge tripping hazard, as someone would step on them and it would slide. Several items in the house were broken and/or in disrepair; from the microwave to the smoke detector. One item of note was barbed wire rolled up in the living room, as decoration I'm assuming, that became an possible injury issue for our children. To sum up, it was a great trip, great views, but will not be returning due to the status of the house. Would have gave it one star, but the view warranted two.
