About this property

Gite with Original Features but Modern Comforts

Discover the Charm of Le Pressoir: Nestled in Les Coindries Cottage and Gites, this unique property was once the site of the original wine press. The gite boasts a living room with authentic beams/timbers, featuring a sofa that effortlessly transforms into a cozy double bed. Enjoy modern amenities such as satellite TV, Internet access, and a single UK power point/USB. The open-plan kitchen, equipped with a small oven, microwave, fridge, and dining area, offers convenience on the ground floor where you'll also find a shower room, toilet, and a heated towel rail.

Ascend to the mezzanine floor, where historic elements shine—revealing the original cattle manger and showcasing unique beams. Here, an airy double bedroom welcomes you with a period French double bed, fitted wardrobe, and chest of drawers. Step out to a small terrace at the front, providing a delightful space to unwind with a drink or utilise the BBQ, all set against the backdrop of the property's original stone floor. Le Pressoir offers a blend of history and comfort in the picturesque.

Les Coindries.Les Coindries can be found 7km south of Richelieu - famous for its Cardinal of the same name the most powerful man in France during the reign of Louis XIII. The Cardinal spent his early life at the beautiful (though now partly ruined) Chateaux de Coussay and later building a magnificent palace and town of Richelieu. The great palace was later demolished, but the huge park remains including the moat and island on which the Cardinal first built the palace. The park is a wonderful place of a walk or bike ride at anytime of year. This little known citadel is an architectural jewel of France and can be reached in 10 minutes from Les Coindries.

Quiet and pretty setting with a happy atmosphere
We were made very welcome at Les Coindries. We had visited a year ago and can see how Claire and Robert have worked very hard over the last year to improve the gites. They will admit that they have not finished their refurbishment programme yet and we shall look forward to visiting again to enjoy another stay. The setting is quiet and very pretty with a central raised border which allows each gite to be private and yet within the body of the courtyard so no one feels isolated. Bbqs and sunshades with outside tables and chairs are perfect for outdoor living when the weather is good whilst inside the gites are prettily and comfortably furnished. Claire and Robert are on hand to offer advice as to where to visit with suggestions for all ages. There is a gated outdoor swimming pool with a self service bar, chairs, inflatable toys etc. Les Coindries is a lovely place to relax, walk, cycle and visit the nearby chateaux and countryside.

A gem
We had an early April break here and this place is a gem! Gite was well equipped, clean , tidy with a comfy bed and beautiful beddding The accomdation has an outdoor swimming pool and sauna; the weather was kind to us so these were a welcome addition. Area is quiet and tranquil but within easy drive of Richelieu and plenty of vineyards! Future scope is within easy reach and worth a visit Property hosts were welcoming and knowledgable about the area. Do forget to ask about the vending machine of your French stick!

In September 2016, we relocated from our home of more than 25 years in a bustling area of Kent to Les Coindries. This move marked a significant change for us, having raised our two sons in our previous long-term home. With backgrounds rooted in the construction industry, we also have experience in owning and operating children's daycare, after-school, and holiday clubs.

Why they chose this property

We were attracted to the enchanting region of France where Les Coindries is situated, captivated by its expansive landscapes, historic medieval cities, charming chateaux, and picturesque gardens—all conveniently accessible by a short drive. The tranquility, abundant wildlife, and the allure of numerous restaurants and vineyards contribute to our appreciation of this area. Embracing rural life, along with the warm hospitality of the local community, further enhances our affection for living at Les Coindries.
