About this property

Menjoun is a 19th centuary farmhouse lovingly restored in 2019 by Guy and Andrew, who have many years experience of successfully running high quality gites in this stunning area. Located in one of the most beautiful and authentic regions of S.W. France, this spacious, sunny and stylishly furnished property boasts 3 large comfortable bedrooms, a huge, well equiped kitchen and dining area situated in a beautifully converted barn, and a comfortable through to kitchen sitting room, all with spectacular views across to the stunning Pyrenees or behind to the pretty Nère Valley and the Chateau d'Eoux. The house retains its original wooden beams and the ground floor has been entirely covered in beautiful, clear travertine stone. The large 12 x 4 meter, travertine terraced pool is West facing and receives sun all day. Just perfect for sunset drinks! Because the pool has steps and has a single depth of 135 cm, it is safe for children and pool games. An electronic pool cover enables you to cover the pool at night and guard the daytime heat.
The very large downstairs bedroom has a comfortable walk in shower room attached, with toilet and sink. The two sizable attic rooms share a good sized bathroom with bath, toilet and sink. The adjacent hall has a cot for babies should it be required.
The house is extremely quiet and is situated in a small hamlet of 3 houses surrounded by beautiful, hilly countryside. The track leading to the house is a cul de sac. You will be lucky to see a single car pass in a week!
Situated just 50 minutes from the stunning, historic city of Toulouse, with its large airport and magnificent renaissance heart, fine restaurants, shops and museums, Benque is close to the lovely medieval village of Aurignac with its restaurants, cafés, beer garden and great shops, including 2 butchers, 3 bakers, a small supermarket, fruit and veg shop, a small cinema, a gym and a pharmacy close to a modern doctors clinique. The thriving Saturday morning market is a must for those wishing to buy organic and locally grown produce. Spain is just one hour away and it is only 2 hours drive to Narbonne Plage on the Mediterranean Sea or 2 and a half to Biarritz and the Atlantic Coast. Other easily accessible sites include Carcasonne, Albi and Pau.

Fantastic property

A fantastic house with a brilliant pool in a beautiful part of France. Loads to do in the surrounding area. Guy was a wonderful host for whom nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend a holiday here without any hesitation.

What 3 Words

What 3 words would we use to describe our stay? Perfect, relaxing and homely. The house is beautiflly decorated, spotlessly clean and well equiped with everything we needed for our 2 week stay. The house is rurally located and is so peaceful with amazing views and sunsets. We spent time visiting the local area including the mountains and markets. Most time was spent at the pool soaking up the sunshine. Guy and Andrew are great hosts who work hard to ensure that the house is of a high standard. Friendly and welcoming and there if needed with advice on the local area. Thankyou for a great holiday. Would we return? Absolutely!

Rural Idyll

A totally relaxing stay in this extremely comfortable and spacious house. Very tastefully furnished but retaining some of its original features it was impossible not to absorb the tranquil environment. Guy was an excellent and communicative host from start to finish - many thanks.

Beautiful house and pool, in total isolation

Absolutely beautiful. House is spotlessly clean, open plan, and ideal for a family; tastefully decorated and one of the best showers in a rental we've had. Well equipped kitchen; lovely range cooker and island unit for cooking/entertaining. The 2 bedrooms upstairs were perfect for the children. Despite temperatures of up to 38 degrees in the day, the house stayed relatively cool with the shutters closed - fans were very useful in the upstairs rooms however (but the rooms cooled nicely overnight with the windows open). Pool is the nicest and best maintained we've ever had in 14 years of renting in France; one depth throughout and a good size to actually be able to swim in. Spectacular views from the pool over the countryside, and amazing sunsets; not to mention watching the sun rising over the distant Pyrenees mountains. The gardens have lots of trees which gave some much needed shade in the heat; and although the garden is mainly sloping, there are some flat areas in the shade which we moved the sun loungers to. Overall an amazing property in almost total seclusion. Would also recommend the caves at Lombrives and the Accrobranche at Sequoia Vertigo!

Tout est bien! La maison super sympa, super propre, parfaitement équipée. Style simple et sobre, beaux matériaux, très fonctionnel. Maison très agréable à vivre. Belle piscine avec magnifique vue. Nous avons passé un excellent sejour. Les hôtes sont très agréables et disponibles. Une attention: les insectes notamment mouches difficiles à limiter dans la maison. Mais normal du fait de l’entourage de la maison en pleine nature et champs alentour.

Lovely hosts and beautiful house

Guy is a very friendly and welcoming host. He does the most to make his guests feel at home. The house is spacious and clean with an excellent equipped kitchen. The outdoors is the cherry on top with a clean pool and a magnificient view!

Traumhafte Tage in einem wunderbaren Haus

Wir waren mit 6 Personen im Haus und trotz eines Regentages bot es immer genügend Platz für alle. Die schöne offene Küche ist mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht und auch sonst mangelt es an nichts. Besonders schön ist natürlich das Grundstück mit dem eigenen Pool, den die Kinder sehr genossen haben. Vom Haus hat man einen wunderbaren Blick über die hügelige Landschaft. Auf Grund der Corona-Situation haben wir nicht viel unternommen, was aber auf Grund des schönen Grundstücks und des großzügigen Hauses kein Problem war. Wer einen erholsamen Urlaub in schöner Landschaft verbringen möchte ist hier genau richtig.

Les vraies vacances !

Que dire de la maison de Guy, son charme, sa vue, son calme. Si vous souhaitez passez un moment déconnecté de tout, à profiter des longues soirées d'été au bord de la piscine, à lire un livre face aux montagnes ou tout simplement à vous reposer je ne peux pas que vous puissiez rêver mieux. De plus en 10 minutes de voitures vous trouverez tout ce que vous voulez aussi bien en activités qu'en commerces. Guy est un hôte formidable avec des petites attentions à notre arrivée qui nous plonge déjà dans les vacances. Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir.

Excellent séjour au calme

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour dans un endroit très calme, ce que nous cherchions. Le gite parfaitement conforme à l'annonce est très bien rénové et bien équipé, et la piscine très bien exposée est très agréable. Le propriétaire nous a accueillis très chaleureusement.

PARFAIT !!!

Si vous cherchez le calme et la tranquillité dans une maison tout confort, cette maison est pour vous. Dans un cadre absolument magnifique avec vue d'un côté sur la campagne et de l'autre sur les montagnes, rien n'est laissé au hasard par les propriétaires qui ont pensé à tout pour que les vacances soient les plus plaisantes possible. Et ce, dès l'arrivée. Outre l'accueil personnalisé, le frigo était déjà pourvu de lait , vin et bières. Tout le nécessaire à la vie dans une maison est à disposition dans ce bâtiment rénové et aménagé avec soin et goût. Les propriétaires sont très discrets et toujours disponibles avec gentillesse.

Superb property and stay

Incredible location, we sat out every night looking at the view. The house is perfectly equipped and extremely comfortable. The pool is stunning, with views over the surrounding fields. We had a brilliant 10 days there, exploring the area. Guy and Andrew are wonderful hosts. We would recommend to anyone.

Andrew and Guy have lived permanently in the region since 2002. Guy is an artist and Andrew a gardener. They have succesfully run high quality holiday rentals in the stunning Comminges region since 2008. Both are keen gardeners and enjoy cooking their home grown organic produce. They live close by and are always their to help in case of need.

Why they chose this property

Knowing the area well and looking for a house to restore as a holiday rental, we immediately saw the potential of Menjoun with its fantastic views to the mountains and the Nère Valley. Situated in an idylic spot, on a small dead end track, the house is extemely quiet. Most days you will not see or hear a car. It is the ideal place to get away to. After 2 years of hard work, converting the house, barn, attic and building the swimming pool, we finally finished the house in September 2019. Its a wonderful house, full of light, spacious and a real pleasure to be in. We think you will love it!

What makes this property unique

The great thing about Menjoun is the surrounding countryside, the total quiet and the spectacular views. The large west facing pool is beautifully situated and completely un overlooked. The huge kitchen, dining area is at the heart of the house. Its a perfect place to relax, cook and eat together en famille. There are plenty of outside spaces to eat also and the house is surrounded by fields, non of which are cultivated or chemically treated. All this within easy reach of a major cityToulouse, with its large international airport.
