About this property
Brittany Vacation Rental near Quimper
This beautifully renovated three bedroom apartment is located on the second and third floor of a traditional stone cottage set in Plomelin, a small village of fewer than 5000 residents in Finistère, Brittany - the French Land's End.
The apartment can be rented as a two or three bedroom apartment. The third bedroom (this one has the king size bed) and second bathroom are located on the top floor. This level can be locked off and you may rent it as a two bedroom apartment if that all you need. Please contact us for special pricing.
The apartment offers a fully equipped kitchen with all dinnerware and cutlery, fridge-freezer, gas range with oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, and dishwasher. You will enjoy preparing meals on the butcher-block kitchen island and sitting at the large pine table while enjoying the view of the old stone church in the center of town.
The cottage’s recent renovations feature new floors throughout, decorator interior paint and new furniture. Both bedrooms features skylights, and have queen-sized beds with high-thread-count Egyptian cotton linens. The newly renovated bathroom offers a contemporary, luxurious feeling with nice thick towels and a heated towel rack.
While you will want to explore the culture and cuisine of the area, you will feel at home with the flat-screen TV, high-speed WiFi and unlimited international phone calls. A printer is available for use.
Within two blocks of the cottage, you will find a neighborhood bar, a local pizzeria, a grocery store, and “Le Fournil des Menhirs” patisserie (bakery) – voted one of the 110 best in France! You are also within walking distance of the Poste and a pharmacy.
The English- and French-speaking property manager lives nearby and will be happy to meet you at the train or airport if you arrive after the car rental offices close (and get you to them when they re-open). The property manager can also answer questions and offer suggestions on activities and anything else you might need during your stay.
ABOUT THE AREA
Just a few miles up the Odet River lies Quimper, the cultural center of this part of Brittany. Quimper is well-known for its magnificent gothic cathedral and offers a variety of museums, restaurants and shops. In July, you can enjoy the Festival of Cornouaille, a week-long celebration of folk art, music and dance.
Heading in the opposite direction, you can enjoy wide sandy beaches and quaint fishing villages. Cyclists can rent bicycles and tour the region in all directions.
The area is well known for its Quimper faience pottery and the magnificent Cathedral of St. Corentin, widely considered the best example of gothic architecture in all of Brittany.
You can explore the Musée départemental breton (Breton Museum), devoted to regional history and archaeology, and the Musée des beaux-arts (Fine Arts Museum) housing fourteenth to twenty-first-century paintings.
Quimper is known throughout the region and the Celtic world for its Festival of Cornouaille, which celebrates Breton culture in all its forms during the first week of July. You can enjoy folk art, traditional music and dance from the region, as well as internationally known performers. Joan Baez, Sinead O’Connor and James Blunt have recently headlined at the festival.
