At Mountain View Townhouse they are realising their dream of a life in the bucolic Aude valley of south west France. This elegant chambre d’hôte is the culmination of a five-year search for the perfect home in which to host and entertain guests, family and friends alike. Since their purchase in 2017, Melissa and Clive have lovingly restored the character property to give it an air of comfort and luxury. Having holidayed in the region for the past three years, they are ideally placed to offer friendly help and advice regarding the many activities and sights that await you. They look forward to welcoming you to Mountain View Townhouse!

Why they chose this property

Quillan is located at the foothills of the Pyrenees, on the road between Carcassonne and Perpignan. The River Aude runs through the town. At the base of the mountains, fields of sunflowers and vineyards straddle the roads with snow-capped peaks in the distance. The location is thought of as one of the most spectacular in France, which is one of the reasons for the increase in tourism and migration to the area. Peyrepertuse, Montsegur, Puilauren, Queribus, Roquefixade and other spectacular ancient Cathar sites are within easy reach.

The beaches of the Mediterranean are little more than an hour away. In the other direction, the awe of Carcassonne is 45 minutes drive, while the majesty and sophistication of Toulouse is one and a half hours away. Quillan is a medium-sized town 6 km from Espéraza, neighbouring the commune of Ginoles, and is popular for whitewater rafting, canoeing, fishing and kayaking on the Aude River and other outdoor activities including cycling, hiking and running.

‘Blanquette’ Room
Named after the wine ‘Blanquette de Limoux’, considered to be the first sparkling white wine produced in France, created long before the Champagne region became world-renowned for the sparkling wine Champagne.

The second floor room features a double bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. Its’ cream and gold décor reflects the luxury of a bygone era in which antique and modern furniture combine to create an atmosphere of tranquillity and comfort. Guests can enjoy the glorious sunrises and mountain views from its’ south-facing window.
