Nearby Creswell Crags has Britain’s only Ice Age cave painting, and a short drive will take you to Laxton’s Medieval Farming System and the thought provoking National Holocaust Centre.
Nottinghamshire is steeped in history including the Pilgrim Fathers and the Civil War. The Pilgrim Centre in Retford is well worth a visit; as is the fascinating Newark Civil War centre and Southwell with its beautiful minster and workhouse, for a visit with a difference.
