About this property

All Season Three Level Log Vacation Home On 21 Acres Between Okemo & Killington!

The perfect getaway in a perfect location...maybe for a week or two,,,or more...or maybe just a long weekend...any time of year.

Less than three hours from Boston.

Less than five hours from New York City.

The perfect size group would be one, two or three adult couples with maybe up to five or six little ones.

Our oversized log cabin will accommodate up to seven couples or one or two families. While there are only two "conventional" bedrooms in this three level log home (one of which is part of a completely separate "mother-in-law apartment" on the lower level of the house), there is also a fully enclosed queen size private sleeping loft ... plus a tiny (but still queen size) room that we call "the cave" because the roof of the house slopes down into it...there is plenty of sleeping room for two adults or two little ones in "the cave"... but no standing up or dancing around...unless you happen to be under four feet tall (think "sleeping quarters" in the cabin of a boat...minus the motion of the ocean). Again, all four of these private spaces are queen size.

Our winter guests enjoy skiing at Okemo (seven miles away) or Killington, the largest ski area in the East (20 miles away). Bromley, Magic and Stratton are also well within striking distance. Cross-country skiing on innumerable prepared snowmobile trails that cris-cross our area. Even horse drawn sleigh rides are available.

Summer and Fall Foliage vacationers have all that Vermont has to offer close at hand. Hiking, biking, horseback riding, tennis, golf, antique hunting and even Old-Time Locomotive Train rides are all nearby.

Swimming, boating and fishing are all to be found on Lake Ninevah, with more than 100 acres of pristine wilderness lake to explore and enjoy. Our canoe, two kayaks and a fishing dinghy are all included in Summer and Fall Foliage Rentals.

12th annual Super Bowl Ski trip
This property was a great fit for my group for our annual Super Bowl ski trip. We hit 5 mountains in 5 days all of which were under an hour away. Bill checked in with me a few times as well. We would definitely come back.

Short getaway
We stayed at this cabin after coming across on it on Vrbo and it was the best choice. Rustic and roomy cabin, we enjoyed the wooded property, fishing and hiking near by. Communication with the host was superb! I only wished I stayed longer!

Amazing cabin for a weekend snowboarding at Okemo with family and friends
Wow, we were amazed by this property from the second we entered the home. There was already a fire started, and serene beautiful music playing. Everyone in my group could not stop talking about what a wonderful find Bill's home was. The two kitchens were well stocked, the entire place was pristine and clean, and overall it was super cozy and relaxing. We look forward to returning in the future for more family/friend ski trips!

A Vermont adventure
House is on a beautiful piece of land close to Okemo. Its main strength is its charm and quirkiness. This is not a perfectly appointed house and may turn off some renters. But, we loved its rustic beauty and felt like we were having an adventure. It may not look it, but it's highly functional in its utilities. Maybe pack your favorite bedding for a little more comfort. The owner is very responsive and accomodating.

Great ski house
We booked this property for a superbowl weekend at Okemo. Great proximity to the mountain, great wifi, enough hot water for all guests, enough heat to keep us warm in 5° weather, and a very communicative host. Highly recommended!

Perfect October Escape
My husband and I absolutely loved the time we spent here with our 2 dogs and cat. The house was very clean and well-stocked with everything we needed for the month, including plenty of firewood for the colder days. The property is beautiful and blissfully quiet; we loved walking the trail in back of the house with the pups every morning, enjoying the fall foliage. Bill, the Owner, is super friendly, provided detailed information regarding the cabin and surrounding area, and was always quick to respond to any questions we had. We highly recommend this property and would definitely stay there again. Thank you Bill and Valerie!

Nice place and nice owner
Plenty of beds. 2 fireplaces. All the cookwares you need for the trip. Very nice and responsive owner. We all had a great time staying 3 nights for okemo snowboarding. Some beds can get a little cold in the mornings. Also maybe a bigger dinning area would be great. Thanks Bill.

Authentic, everything you need, Vermont accommodation.
Everything was precisely as discribed including directions to the house. It was perfect for our large group of adults and children. The area was a real rugged mountain rural tranquil sort of place. Huge property in an untouched by development landscape. If your looking for a place to stay while near and around Ludlow, we highly recommend staying at the Hornsby’s.

Real cabin life
First off I wanted to thank Bill for his quick response to everything, from point of reservation and during time of stay. The place is amazing. This is the first time I actually stayed in a true cabin. The owner of the home has set up the cabin to offer everything you need during your stay. The refrigerator was very clean and the beds were quite comfy. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities and beyond if you love to cook. The cabin slept 11 people comfortably. There is a private suite that’s connected to the cabin if you’re into that. IT has it’s own bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and living room. I loved Bill’s tape collection, I found a Miles Davis tape and played it atleast 3x’s. There’s reliable and fast internet. Bill has a nice television in the main room but when youre out in nature you tend to not turn it on often. We stayed during the nor’eastern and the cabin stayed very warm. There was never a problem with water going cold. Everybody who showered got to bathe in warm water. Our stay to VT was to go ski and snowboard before the season was over and Bill’s cabin is about 13 mins away from Okemo Resort which makes it easily accessible. The drive way can be slippery when the snow has been packed down so if you have a 4wd; not a problem, but if you’re a two wheel drive make sure to bring snow chains or have your friends push your car up. LOL. That too was fun. I would highly recommend Bill’s cabin. GPS had no problems finding the cabin. I hope to stay in Bill’s cabin again for future travels to VT. Enjoy your stay a this true cabin. It truly is a blessing in nature. Thanks Bill for everything.

Great house! spacious and open w terrific amenities.
We had a wonderful time at Bill's house. Plenty of room for guests. We used the grills for cooking steaks and burgers. The kayaks were perfect for a paddle in nearby Lake Ninevah. Good hike up Okemo and a few afternoons cooling by Buttermilk Falls. Also took in the State Fair including a demolition derby that was a thrill! Thanks Bill, for a great stay.

Great place to stay!
Bill's place was perfect for me and my 11 friends to stay for president's day weekend. There is one real bedroom and three full sized beds total with a number of couches and mats to sleep on around the house so if you're comfortable with that set up this place is a great deal. Bill's place is also only 15 min away from Okemo so perfect for skiing/snowboarding there. Bill was also very responsive and reliable as a host.

Perfect for friends!
My stay at the cabin was a wonderful experience! I travel every summer with a large group of my friends (10-15+) and this is by far the most enjoyable place we've stayed! It is very unique. There are a number of reading nooks, comfortable benches, and futons that my friends have no trouble inhabiting for a night. The trade off is a homey place to spend quality time where people aren't inclined to bury themselves in cell phones or computers. It rained nearly every day we visited, but getting away from it all with friends was well worth it. Bill was very kind and helpful throughout all stages of our stay. We did have an issue with running out of well water due to a toilet stopper issue, but he sent someone to our aid pronto (very appreciated with 10+ people needing showers and toilets). Although we didn't quite have swimming weather, we walked down to the lake and met some very friendly folks. I'm not sure if you can swim in the lake, but the owner made his boats available to us; a tempting offer had we been able to attach them to one of our cars. There was a Shaws not 10 minutes away, and we visited a local restaurant (Outbak Pizza) for a friend's birthday. The food was good, but what was great was the Open Mic Night! Highly recommend it if you're with a large group! I hope to go back to this cabin one day!

Amazing and unique property!
This was an awesome property! We go away every winter and this is the first time we have stayed at such a unique vacation home. We loved the log cabin feel! The iron fireplaces/stoves were so relaxing. It is conveniently located and yet was secluded enough. Really close to the slopes and town. As mentioned, there was no cell phone service (best part of the trip, if you ask me!) but there was a land-line and Wifi in the house. The property had plenty of amenities that accommodated the 12 of us comfortably, such as extra EXTRA blankets and towels. Everything, from the interior and exterior, was very clean and well taken care of. The owner of the property was great and responded super quick to our emails and phone calls! I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family, and hope to return next winter!
