Drifted Inn - Riverfront Cabin

Stay at our little cottage on the shores of the Detroit River.
This one room cottage has all the makings of a simple getaway:
hammock, BBQ, private sand spit and fire pit.
Quintessential summer, minutes from downtown of Amherstburg.
Well suited to young families, girls' weekends, couples getaways, and anyone just looking for a bit of quiet.
The small beach is perfect for building sandcastles with tikes, or digging your lawn chair in and watching the sunset; the large deck is a great place to pass the afternoon, BBQ-ing and watching the freighters go by, the hammock is the place to polish off your summer reading list.

There is a bike lane along Front Road, for cyclists wanting to pop into town; or head to the wine route.

The Cottage makes a perfect jump-off point for: exploring the EPIC wine route, city of Windsor, Boblo Island, Town of Amherstburg, Holiday Beach, Point Pelee National Park.

Great spot for a relaxing getaway

This place was great for a nice relaxing weekend. The view of the river was very tranquil and was exactly what we were looking for. We enjoyed the property thoroughly. The property is as advertised. Would definitely stay here again.

We love this place!

This was our 3rd visit to Drifted Inn, and we booked our 4th while we were there. It's a beautiful little place, the beach is perfect for our son and it's close enough to town to get anything you need.

Just what we wanted

Quiet place on the lake. Beautiful sunsets. The porch/deck was our absolute favorite place to be, morning and evening especially. Cozy little place, but its all we needed. We will return.

Amazing little gem

This was our second time staying, and we had yet another wonderful stay! We love the little town of Amherstburg, and this cottage is the perfect location. Watching the ships is always a favourite, but the closeness to multiple nature areas is a bonus as well. We were able to enjoy some bird watching at Point Pelee and Holiday Beach. The cottage is kept very clean, the bed is really comfy, and the kitchen was super well stocked! We can't wait to come back!

Just absolutely perfect for what hubby and I needed. Megan was very responsive, the cottage was as perfect as it could have been. Scenery was great, Tim’s just a skip away, comfortable bed and lunging furniture - I claimed the chair by the fire all weekend. Would definitely stay here again

Exceeded expectations! The location is really a treasure. Very private and literally ON the water. Sitting on the deck watching the big ships is absolutely the best! The cottage is also fully stocked for cooking and the linens are excellent quality. The location is also super convenient... Just minutes to town, big box stores, grocery, and restaurants. We hope to be back!

Very nice weekend!

Cottage was adorable and essentials were well stocked. Easy check-in and the nights were very quiet. Sunsets on patio were gorgeous and it was great to watch the big boats go by on their way to Detroit. We also loved walking around Amherstburg, such a cute historic downtown. Little bit of confusion on the check out time and the water had a bit too much seaweed to swim, but would recommend the cottage to friends.

Another excellent stay

This was our second year staying at the Drifted Inn, and it was another wonderful time for our family. As always, the cottage is clean, cozy and comfortable. We had beautiful weather all week which let us take advantage of dinners on the deck, lots of fun on the little private beach, and beautiful sunset views. Thank you for another wonderful summer getaway. We have already booked for next year, and can't wait to return.

Fantastic

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and it was fantastic.It was very clean and had everything that you would need .We enjoyed siting on the patio or just relaxing in the hammock.We went to shooters twice for dinner.It was just a couple minute drive from the cottage The food was awesome and the waitresses were super friendly.highly recommend this cottage and shooters.

The property was very clean inside. There was construction next door everyday at 8am until 4pm. The doors are lacking as the allow spiders and mosquitos into the property and my husband and I were bitten many times. I shouldn’t need bug repellent indoors.

Great weekend getaway!

Super lovely cottage! We loved having the private beach access, and probably our favourite part was watching the large ships go down the channel- it was especially handy to have the Know Your Ships 2022 book to give us more information on the boats that would be coming through (we even downloaded the Marine Traffic App)! We enjoyed some fishing out back, and the hammock as well. Amherstburg is a super nice little town that we loved exploring. We mostly hung around the cottage and played board games, but enjoyed visiting the small stores and having frozen yogurt in town! Only "down side" was that there were a lot of spiders outside! Thought we'd give a warning- however it was definitely manageable and wouldn't deter us from staying again :) 5 stars all around, thank you for a wonderful stay!

Relaxing with a view

I couldn’t have asked for a better few days for myself to enjoy with my mom and dog! The cottage itself is cute with a little bit of a rustic feel… a beautiful view of the water from every spot but most of our time was spent outside enjoying the water. My dog had the time of his life swimming and exploring the rocks…. I couldn’t have asked for a better set up for us. It was nice and private but also close enough to the town if we wanted to get out for a bit!! Also was pleasantly surprised by some treats left for us from the host!! :) highly recommend if you are looking for peace with a stunning view

Wonderful Getaway!

Such a beautiful place! We had no trouble checking in or finding the place. When we got in, we were had everything we needed. Meg was so quick and gracious in her communication, including providing things to do or see around the town. These came in really handy for us, as we showed up with no plan and ended up having some great adventures. The backyard/patio was my favourite as it provided gorgeous sunset views, and a comfortable hammock. Can't wait to come back again someday!

Why they chose this property

We are both from Essex County, after spending a few years living out west we wanted to come home & marry BC and Ontario life, this location allows for that - with bike lanes, paddling opportunities, the greenway (biking rail trail), & wine route.

What makes this property unique

All the convenience of being basically in-town, but feels secluded. Marries downtown convenience with privacy - able to bike right from the Cottage (bike lane), or paddle out the front door - we love that.
