About this property

2 bed cottage, perfect for friends, family & pet friendly in village location

WE ARE NOW OPEN FOR BOOKINGS.

Following extensive restoration and enhancement works which began October 2023 we are very excited and pleased to say we re-opened Easter 2024.

Cherry Tree Cottage has a new roof, new kitchen and new bathroom with a bath and shower and has been totally refurbed.

With the cottage being over 300 years old we have already unearthed some lovely original features which have been enhanced for our guests to enjoy too. The enclosed garden and grounds have been landscaped with a communcal space with gazebo and BBQ area and had a total refit throughout.

We have also added a hot and cold doggy shower for our furry guests.

All our renovations and enhancements are now complete and we are so pleased with the results

Cherry Tree Cottage is a charming 17th century brick and flint cottage with 2 large bedrooms, a very large double with king size bed (with space for an extra bed if required) and a twin room, with 2 x 3ft single beds, family bathroom with shower and bath, spacious kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer with dining and seating area. The kitchen also has its original features including the bread oven, fireplace and salt cupboard with door to the enclosed garden. From here the Norfolk "winder stairs" (with full bespoke balustrade) leads upstairs.

There is a large, airy sitting room with log burner and inglenook fireplace and plenty of space for all your shoes and coats.

The "home from home" feeling with traditional charm has its own private enclosed garden and allocated off street parking. There is a communal garden for all guests to enjoy too.

Located in the sleepy village of GREAT SNORING, next to the village church and just 6 miles (12-15 minute drive) from Wells-Next-the-Sea the fabulous North Norfolk Coast and close to many local attractions and charming villages. Places such as Holt, Holkham Estate, Royal Sandringham, Houghton Hall, Bickling Estate, Burnham Market, the NT wildlife reserve at Blakeney, Brancaster for the seals, historial Little Walsingham, Sheringham and Cromer are all within easy reach from the cottage.

We are dog friendly with plenty of dog walks and dog friendly beaches nearby. There are an array of beautiful walks, both coastal and inland with the North Norfolk Coastal path stretching all along from Old Hanstanton to Cromer, plenty of golf courses, fishing, sea fishing, bird watching, nature reserves, a racecourse and some superb restaurants / pubs and many shopping opportunities including some amazing artisan shops with locally sourced produce.

North Norfolk just love their dogs and most are welcome in lots of pubs, restaurants and shops too. Most of the beaches along the coastline are dog friendly too.

Great base for North Norfolk stay
We spent a wonderful few days in Cherry Tree Cottage. The cottages have been beautifully renovated and well equipped and we were lucky enough to christen the amazing bbq grill and hut. The cottage is very dog friendly with enclosed garden. A great base to explore the North Norfolk towns and beaches with some great recommendations from Andy and Karen.

Fantastic week at Cherry Tree Cottage
The cottage was clean, spacious and welcoming with great outside space. Loved the church bells chiming too! All very relaxing. Made the most of the massive North Norfolk sandy beaches and lovely villages and towns. We did some great walks with the dogs as well. Plenty of choice.

We thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Great Snoring and were pleased to be a little of the main roads but with easy access to the lovey sights of North Norfolk, historic houses, beaches and markets. The cottage suited us well and was very comfortable.

Ideal location in Norfolk
Situated in an area of several villages and only a few miles from the coast means these cottages have the best of both worlds. The owners have gone to a lot of thought and effort to make the cottages comfortable and clean. They are cosy and homely and have everything you would need. There are private garden areas for each cottage and a large, safe communal garden, which is of great interest if you bring a dog or two with you!

Great place to stay with dogs
We loved the cottage and it’s originality. There are loads of dog friendly beaches and walks nearby but you need a car to get to them - which is not a problem. We found we were spoilt for choice with things to do and it was lovely to come back to our warm cosy cottage for dinner and a good movie by the fire. Having said that all the pubs we walked by or visited were warm welcoming and dog friendly. Thank you Karen we’ve had a lovely, restful time at your cottage Mark and Nicky

Dream cottage, lovely area
The cottage was everything we hoped for - cosy, characterful, genuinely old but with all mod cons and in a peaceful setting. The surrounding area is full of places to visit, but we also really enjoyed just walking to Little Walsingham along the green lane, then exploring the ancient priory and its grounds, and having a great meal at the pub in the square. Highly recommended.

Lovely picturesque cottage in the perfect location very private with lovely gardens
We are regular visitors to North Nofolk and like to try new places Great Snoring had great dog walks , you can walk into Walshingham to the fantastic Deli and grab a bite to eat and drink in the two great pubs , both dog friendly . There was social club in the village that made us very welcome . Our favourite beach is Brancaster , which was close by . The only down side to the holiday was that the cottage was full of flies , we tried everything to get rid of them ,it made it impossible to eat inside , so weather permitting we ate in the garden or went out , the White Horse at Brancaster is a must fab food and Staff. we did make Gilly aware of the problem . Won't stop us going back

Delightful cottage
We had a lovely two weeks at Rose Cottage. It was the perfect size for the three of us plus our dog. The owner took great care of us, which helped as going away with a puppy is still new to us.

Lovely, cosy, comfortable cottage. Full of old world charm and character. Highly recommend a stay.
Great place to stay. Quiet and relaxed cottage. Shared enclosed garden safe and excellent for kids to run around in. Lots of things to do in area for whole family. Beaches absolutely fantastic. Local shops and restaurants as well as supermarket nearby. Owner very friendly, attentive and accommodating (leaving time flexible to suit us was very much appreciated). Kids loved cottage so much they did not want to leave (said goodby to all the rooms and kissed cottage on way out the door - "it's our cottage now". We hope to return on another holiday to visit all the exciting places we missed this time around. Recommend two week stay rather than just one. Lorraine (Derbyshire)

Charming cottage in a beautiful area, great for de-stressing
The cottage is full of character and has large rooms. We particularly loved the kitchen with its original and therefore uneven flooring, salt cellar, fireplace and bread oven. The kitchen is fully fitted with modern equipment however. There are narrow winding stairs from the kitchen up to the two large bedrooms and bathroom. No shower, however it was lovely to soak in the bath which was quite a novelty! We were lucky and had excellent weather all week, so it was lovely to sit outside in the sun enjoying the tranquility and listening to the birds singing. Although the cottage is on the road through to Walsingham there is very little traffic and this did not detract from the lovely peace and quiet. Off road parking is available at the rear of the cottage where there are another two cottages set in a courtyard type setting. Great Snoring is close enough to anywhere you want to go to in North Norfolk but we also had a day at RSPB Minsmere which took around one and a half hours to get to. This has been one of the most relaxing and de-stressing places we have ever stayed and shall definitely be returning when we next visit Norfolk.

Cherry tree cottage Little Snoring Norfolk
Cottage is quaint and old fashioned but very comfortable. Heating very good and beds comfortable. If you can manage without a shower and do not mind washing your hair with a jug of water then you will be happy here. The only thing I could recommend is a welcome pint of milk as after a long journey we couldn't get a cup of tea without first visiting a supermarket! The cottage is situated in a lovely peaceful area and we had the best weather which enhanced our stay.

About the host

Hosted by Karen Chesterman

Host profile image
After many years of long hours and commuting, we made a life changing decision that it was time to do something different and hopefully “buy some time” in our later years.

Karen was born in Hampshire and grew up in Africa before returning to the UK settling in Hertfordshire. Karen’s parents had 3 daughters and had a holiday home in Norfolk, a place where she spent many happy holiday years.

Andrew grew up in East London, trained as a Surveyor and spent over 30 years in Construction and Development, his family holidays were a mixture of camping and boating on the Norfolk Broads.

The pull to Norfolk for both of us was a natural next step with this being our first holiday let venture together.

We instantly fell in love with Great Snoring and the charm and character of Clevency Cottages and purchased all three cottages in December 2019. We both love being outdoors and long walks along the coastline and countryside and where better to do this but on the beautiful Norfolk coastline, enjoying the award winning beaches, many of them dog friendly, remarkable nature, the space, big skies, and experiencing the wonderful local people and produce.

We now live in Norfolk and are continuing our journey together exploring this wonderful county, walking, cycling, open water swimming and the endless boutique shops, passionate artisan shops and markets and stunning scenery.

We are so pleased you are considering north Norfolk as a destination to visit and hope you enjoy all it has to offer as much as we do.

It is always worth sending me an enquiry if you would like to book all three of our cottages - fabulous for extended breaks away.

Why they chose this property

Home from home in a rural, quiet village setting and a perfect location to explore the whole of the north Norfolk coastline. North Norfolk love their dogs and you will find most pubs, restaurants and shops welcome them too.

What makes this property unique

17th century Grade II listed cottage with an original "Norfolk Winder" staircase, logburner, bread oven and salt cupboard.
Perfect for that quiet break but within easy reach to the beaches, villages, historical areas and wildlife.
