Disappointed
We booked this cabin for our family of 4 (myself, my husband and our two young children) for a relaxing Christmas getaway. We got there Christmas Eve night and instantly noticed a mess in the kitchen. There were fake fingernails and old chunks of cheese in the sink, dead bugs everywhere (including on the furniture and counters), the outlet where the TV and DVD player connected to didn't work, and it was just so uncomfortably dusty and dirty. We had to force ourselves to spend one night then left in the morning (on Christmas) in tears over how much of a waste this all was. Only to get a third of our money back. This was a Christmas present to our kids. So disappointed.

Rustic Stay
Our stay at the cabin was very comfortable. Couple things to note remember to bring your own disposable goods (Toilet Paper, Paper Towel, Trash Bags, etc) as well as all the food you will need. There were some very bare kitchen essentials (salt, pepper, some seasonings). Kitchen was stocked with plates, pots, pans, and some cooking utensils. If you plan to grill bring charcoal. Our one complaint is that the kitchen is extremely dark, the lights underneath the microwave did not work during our stay which made cooking on the stove difficult. We also noticed that the electrical outlets on the wall which the TV is mounted were not operating. The cabin is a rustic Up North Michigan cabin and has a lot of that charm so if that's what you are looking for as a home base for your adventures it's an absolutely perfect cabin and location. Read through the listing and all it's details and you will be perfectly prepared for your stay.

Perfect for ORV trip
We stayed at this place for our dirtbiking trip. Very private, plenty of space, and the garage held three bikes and a trailer comfortably. Check in was easy with the number pad on the door. 15 minutes away from grocery stores and about 5 from nearest gas station/convenience store. Had good cell reception. Finding the driveway at night might be tough since there is no green reflective sign, but the address is on the tree. Pack your own toiletries/ disposables. Owner Mike responded promptly. We will be looking for this specific place when we visit again.

Hunting cabin
Rustic hunting cabin off dirt, seasonal road with two track dirt/grass driveway. I liked being on 10 acres and that my dog was allowed there. It had most everything you need but needs serious updating, including new towels and sheets and lightbulbs in every room.. I brought my own pillows and sheets from reading others’ comments. It was fine if you just want a rustic place for hunting or snowmobiling. Steep wooden staircase up to the two bedrooms upstairs was kind of hazardous in the night to go down to use the bathroom. Neighbors were target shooting less than 100 yards away. There is a public easement behind and along the side of the property so I didn’t take my dog out too far away from the cabin.

Great for glamping
Great outdoor area (fire pit, lots of chairs, patio, basketball net/concrete pad, grassy volleyball court) and quaint cabin. Owner was easy to get a hold of and responded promptly to questions. As previous reviewers have said, definitely needs more lighting in the kitchen.

Read before booking
Know what you are booking. This place is a cabin and nothing more, poor lighting, 1 bath, toilet clogs after first use. Beds not made, noodles in the sink. Cop showed up upon arrival looking for the cleaning lady. You need to bring your own everything! Including toilet paper mad trash bags, dish soap, bathroom soap. Went to use the grill (which they had two) but no propane. So we had to go purchase a tank. Don't advertise you have grills but no propane. No cable, just old movies and not a lot. This is very far from town so be aware of that. The a/c in one room wasn't cold. All of the cookware was greasy and seemed dirty. From the vacation rentals I have rented this is by far the worst one and they should put a little more effort into making it a better experience. Just be aware what you are renting is a rusted buddies car, not a Cadillac from a car rental. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I paid a cleaning fee and I expect the place to be clean when I arrive.

Fun summer weekend spot
My brother and I and some friends stayed for a long weekend during July and had a great time. Cadillac is about 10-15 minutes away if you want to do any boating or fishing on Lake Mitchell and Lake Cadillac. The house is really unique and secluded. We spent the whole time grilling, playing lawn games, and having bonfires. Other reviews are correct in that the lighting is not very bright (especially in the kitchen), but I feel like that might be for the purpose of attracting less bugs at night. And the bugs really weren’t that bad considering it’s surrounded by forests. Everything was clean and comfortable and I’d love to return again. Overall a great time.

The up stairs AC unit and beds
The up stairs AC unit in the single bed room doesn't work that well, and some of the beds are spring lumpy the pull out ones are lumpy, but nice place to say the night for the weekend.

Location is private
Some good, some not so good. First with the good, location was beautiful! Private and peaceful! Not so good, bring all disposables. Even trash bags, dish soap, toliet paper. I understand that was advertised, but I didn't realize we would need garbage bags! With a little updating, this cabin would be a 5 star visit. Couch, beds, bedding, pillows and cookware needs updating. Overall, we had a wonderful visit and really can't complain. Would be helpful to give the guests a list of what would be needed when it comes to disposables.

Ski trip
The pillows and bedding could be updated and lighting in kitchen was a little dark. I couldn't find any dust pan or dish soap. Everything else was great. I had trouble locking the door when we left. Also the grill didn't have gas, but he probably didn't expect someone to grill in the winter time.

Fall color trip
Four of us came up for a quick trip to see the fall colors. The weather was perfect, the options for routes to see the colors was great. The property was secluded in the woods, exactly what we wanted and the location is perfect for trails, fall color routes, etc. The outside was well maintained and the cabin itself was as described. The beds were comfortable - and there was plenty of seating inside and outside. I will definitely keep this saved for future trips. Being a little redundant, the kitchen really does need a light and be sure to bring a flashlight for walking around outside because it does get really dark - perfect for star gazing!!

Not bad but a few issues
The stay overall wasn’t bad, but there was a mouse issue, I reached out twice and the first time when there was just droppings, Mike said he would inform the cleaning service and the second time (after we saw the mouse) he never replied. Make sure to bring towels and soap to wash or dry the dishes because none are provided. And bring extra hand soap. Bring a basketball and volleyball in the summer/fall, that’s a lot of fun. Check before arriving if the gas grill is full because we had no gas. I would just check to make sure the property is as described and stocked up before going because overall it’s not bad, maybe needs a little TLC, but check and make sure that what is listed is up to date.
