The cabin was better than we expected. It was perfect for the whole family. The road to the cabin is very windy. Would be a great place to come during summer also.
The home was actually bigger than the pictures make it out to be. We had a wonderful time fishing and swimming in the lake. Local attractions are not too far out along with stores and shopping. Our kids range from 7-18 and they all had something to do. We will definitely be back. The area is gorgeous!
This was a perfect spot to spend quality time with family. Sieverville, pigeon forge and gatlinburg not far! The accommodations with simple but perfect!
We will be back! Owner got back with me promptly when I had a question!
My family thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Gone Fishing! We were very comfortable and had plenty of room for us and our 3 children! We enjoyed sitting together at the large dining table and watching TV together in the living room. Even though it was chilly, we enjoyed breakfast on the back porch, just staring out at the water. A couple of nights the kids and I were able to relax in the hot tub! We had everything we needed and the listing was accurate about what they had on site. The only minor complaint we had as a family was the well water. The water pressure is significantly lower than what we are used to and it had a different type of smell at first. If you let it run for about 3 minutes before using it, the smell dissipates. I read that this can be common with well water/pumps. Even still, it wasn't a big issue, just a minor thing and different than what we're used to. Also, when they say check out is 10:00, they mean someone will be waiting in your driveway at 20 til! We were rushing to get loaded up because people were waiting for us to get out. It is off the beaten path and exactly what we were hoping to find, away from all the busy areas but close enough to get to those areas when we wanted to! We would absolutely stay here again!
Pictures don't do this property justice. Last house at the end of the road. Very private, only houses you can see is down the lake, a distance away. Lots of extras and well equipped. Very comfortable furniture including 2 recliners. Extremely clean. Love the option for trash removal. Great lake views even in March, even though the lake is down this time of the year. Don't hesitate to book this cabin, you won't regret it. I extended my 1 week vacation for 3 more days. Didn't want to leave. Has plenty of firewood and even kindling and newspaper for the fireplace. Has full size coffee pot and a K cup maker. Bring your toiletries. Has lots of spices there. Peaceful, quiet, private. You can tell the owner takes great pride in this home. Will book again. One of the best homes I have rented in a long time, which I rent at LEAST 2 cabins a year. Easy to get to with GPS, easy check in, great communication.
The roads getting to the cabin are quite twisty/curvy. I found it challenging and fun. The views across the lake were nice, but be aware the water is purposely lowered every year from late fall to early spring for flood control. The property comes with plenty of firewood to enjoy a fire every night in the fireplace or in the fire pit. The property was generally quite clean, but there were some kitchen utensils that had food left on them, and there were drains that were corroded leaving the impression that they were not clean when in fact they were.
The experience was great, plenty of room for a group of 6. Only complaint is that we were required to take the trash to a community dumpster site. Not everyones vehicles are equipped to haul trash.
We all were very happy with this lake home. The inside was clean and comfortable. We spent most of our time on the back deck. Plenty of room to spend the days and evenings. Will definitely stay here again when back in the area.
We had the best time! The house was perfect! The view was awesome and the make was refreshing! We rented a pontoon for 3 days and enjoyed every second of it! All new flooring and some new furniture so the owner needs to do some updated pics 😉 the ONLY complaint I could say is the 2 mile drive back the winding roads lol. But...thats not even a complaint! The drive is even worth it 😁 We will be back!!
The house was very very clean, with lots of extra amenities for cooking. It was very comfortable for 5 teens/adults and our family dog. We preferred bottled water to the tap. We spent most of our time at the home on the deck or in the lake. Had fun floating, paddle boarding and fishing in the lake at the house. Loved the fire pit, hot tub and ample seating on the deck. Most of the time we were the only ones on the lake and it felt very private. Grocery store within 15-20 mins; restaurants within 20-30 mins. We visited Smokey Mountain Watersports where we rented Pontoon boat one day and jet skis another day -lots of fun!!. We visited Pigeon forge and Smokey Mountains. First time at Douglas Lake and everyone loved it. Thanks!!
Where do I start? Not only is the location perfect, it's private and peaceful! The house was so clean upon arrival, and they had almost everything we needed! The lake is magnificent, its so beautiful, we spent days and nights, just relaxing and enjoying the view, kayaking and fishing. The dogs loved it too! We definitely cannot say enough good things about our stay, this will not be our last stay at Gone Fishin!!
This was such a great place to stay in the Sevierville area to feel like you were away from the crowds but still close enough to go into town and enjoy all Sevierville has to offer. There is a Dollar General very close by and Food City is about 12 minutes up the road.
The lake was BEAUTIFUL this time of year and we enjoyed jumping off the dock and playing in the water. Yard was nice to setup some outdoor games for the kids. Also, the hot tub was a nice touch to a very relaxing spacious deck.
Loved the open living/dining area which was perfect for family meals and board games. The beds were super comfortable and the house was stocked with a lot of what you need for the week. We utilized the propane grill as well as the kitchen for cooking meals.
Loved that this was dog friendly and that is what was appealing to us in the beginning. There is a little dog lot that was perfect if you needed to put your dogs up and away.
Definitely enough room to park four to five cars comfortably. Also enjoyed being able to walk my dogs up the gravel road leading up to the house and loved that this house is tucked off by itself at the end of the road.
Definitely recommend some updated pictures to the listing because I was pleasantly surprised at some of the updates they have made. The flooring is BEAUTIFUL and living room furniture/ Kitchen table looked brand new. I know some of the comments had stated this was outdated but not any more! :)
We would DEFINITELY stay here again. :)
Very nice home and wonderful seclusion along an expansive lake. The drive there is long and hilly/twisted so don't plan on a quick run into town. Just plan getting to this great house and staying put. You will love your time here.
Pictures don't do it justice! Amazing week spent relaxing and enjoying the weather! 15 minutes from a grocery store and a few gas stations! Can't wait to go and stay again! Thank you for a great week!!
We came just after the season ended but before they lowered the lake. Each day the lake dropped a bit, but not enough to keep our grandson, or dog, out of the water. It is a beautiful home with a breathtaking view and we would stay again. The accessibility of the home was perfect for the 2 elderly/mobility grandmas we brought with.
The house was very charming. Nice gated deck for the dogs and people, fireplace, and hot tub. Three decent sized bedrooms and very comfortable beds. The house was cozy and well stocked with nice little extras like board games, books and puzzles. We enjoyed our stay very much. All our questions were answered in advance and promptly from the management company. One thing to note - there is no food delivery services available so if you need food on your arrival be prepared to go out for it. Over all a wonderful experience would highly recommend.
Cabin was clean and comfy. Everything was exactly as described. Communication was excellent. Would definitely recommend staying here and we will definitely be back in the future
This place was great to stay at! It was far enough away that we felt the peace and quiet from everything and the children in our party could see the stars for the first time but close enough to everything that we didn't feel like we had to drive a lot to get back to anything. The place itself worked well for our family of 7 (5 adults and 2 children). The fireplace was a nice addition and we really enjoyed lighting it up since we don't get to have fires living in Florida. The only disappointing thing was that we came at the time of year when the lake had been drained so we did not get to enjoy looking at the lake. It was more like mud. I would put in your advertisement that the lake is not visibly there at certain points of the year. We had a great time and would definitely rent this cabin again!
Everything was great! The road that lead to the home was easy access, the location of the home was secluded, the home itself was comfortable. The water was low to almost gone but just looking out at the view was an experience in itself.
We can’t wait until next year’s visit! Thank you for everything during our 1st cabin experience.
Got lucky to meet the owner. She was wonderful. The place was so cozy and cute. Enjoyed the furnishings all coordinated. Pets had a ball on the gated deck. Hope Togo again sometime
Get a big coffee pot
We loved the place. It was very quiet around the neighborhood. The cottage was very nice and supplied with everything we needed. Would definitely go back there and stay again.
