About this property

An Cealla-A newly renovated luxury cottage sleeps 2-4 with sauna in Glendale

An Cealla is a beautifully renovated new to the market 2 bedroom traditional cottage with sauna located in Glendale, Isle of Skye. The village of Glendale is one of the most picturesque destinations on Skye, located on the north west coast of the Island. There is an abundance of wildlife, and plenty of local attractions such as the Neist Point Lighthouse, Dunvegan Castle, and Coral Beach to name just a few.

The local shop and cafe (Cafe Lephin) is 1.5 miles away, and the nearest pub can be found in Dunvegan which is approx 8 miles away. Whether it's an active outdoor holiday you are looking for, or a peaceful, relaxing trip you’d prefer- Skye is the perfect destination as it caters for all.

The cottage itself sits in an elevated position with stunning views overlooking Loch Pooltiel- you can also see the Isle of Harris just across the water. There is plenty of parking available, and what make this cottage stand out is from others is it's private setting. You will regularly see buzzards, sea eagles and plenty of Stag and Deer from the front door. Usually they can be spotted in early morning and evenings. It’s a truly amazing sight.

Upstairs in the cottage you will find the two welcoming bedrooms with very comfy beds! The master bedroom has a super-king size bed, and the second bedroom has twin beds in it. There is also a bathroom with underfloor heating located upstairs in the property with a beautiful big bath sitting in front of the window, so you can take in the views while winding down after a busy day.

Downstairs in the cottage there is a good sized living room with a multi-fuel stove, DVD player and a 49" TV with Freesat channels (there is also a good selection of DVD's in the TV unit). There is also a spacious open plan dining room and kitchen area. There is another multi-fuel stove in the dining room to give you a lovely cosy feel when you sit down for your evening meal. In here you will also find a selection of books, board games, radio and an iPhone docking station. We will leave one bucket of coal for you to use during your stay (more coal can be purchased locally), but there are plenty of logs in the log store at the back of the house for your use. In the kitchen there is a dish washer, electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge freezer. It is a fully equipped kitchen, and hopefully we have thought of everything you will need during your stay. Downstairs in the property we also have a large double shower unit and toilet room which has underfloor heating.

With a separate entrance, you will find the utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, sink, and also a seating area and sauna. The sauna is a great way to relax after a busy day of sight-seeing and walking. Please always read the instructions for the sauna before use, and never take food or drink in to it please! We don't supply dressing gowns at the cottage, so please remember to take some for your visit. Outside at the front of the cottage is a seating area, so feel free to have breakfast, lunch and dinner outside if you feel like it!

The property has electric heating and, and as mentioned, has two multi fuel stoves (please use the fireguards if younger children are with you during your stay). The cottage is filled with mahogany furniture throughout and beautifully decorated using soft colours, original oil paintings and Harris Tweed and velvet soft furnishings. High quality bedding and towels are also supplied for you to use during your stay, as are disposable slippers, hot water bottles, hairdryers, and iron and ironing board.

Unfortunately we do not cater for young children at the property, so no high chair or cots are available. We do allow one small well behaved pet dog at the cottage with a supplement charge, but we ask that your pet not be allowed upstairs in the cottage or on any of the furniture.

We operate a key-safe arrival system allowing guests to enter the cottage anytime from 4 pm on Saturday, and vacating by 11 am or your leaving day.

An Cealla is an absolutely stunning holiday cottage with offers privacy and breathtaking views. We are sure you will have a wonderful stay!

As this is a new to the market property, we haven’t had it star rated yet, but we can guarantee that everything is of the highest quality- you will not be disappointed!
Professional photos will be on the site at the end of March.

Magical Week at An Cealla, Glendale, Skye, Scotland, UK
An Cealla is an idyllic location for a relaxing get-away and served us perfectly as an ideal base from which to travel on day trips to all the wondrous natural locations & Historic sites on Skye. Hosts & family could not have been more friendly, welcoming & responsive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend An Cealla for those looking for a beautifully appointed, comfortable location from which to launch their Skye.adventures!

Breathtaking !!
From arriving at the property we were totally overwhelmed by the amazing views and the quietness. The property has everything you need and more, it is a perfect home from home and with every cupboard thoughtfully stocked with everyday utensils There was a village cafe and village store a short walk away so we didn't have to venture far, and stocked lots of local produce. The craft fair held on Tuesdays at the Village hall was lovely to visit too, a proper meet up with the locals !! The dogs also loved it and very safe in the garden being fenced securely from the neighbouring sheep ! Definitely one of the top 2 places we have stayed in on our travels around Skye, The Highlands and Scotland. Thank you Ann & Donald , you have helped us create some wonderful memories of our stay xx

Beautiful house, amazing views - perfect!
My sister and I absolutely enjoyed our stay at A-Cealla. It is the perfect location to explore Skye from, and the perfect place to come home to after hiking and exploring. Ann and Donald made everything pertaining to renting and living in the house easy. I would recommend it without hesitation to friends and family.

Our favourite property
We had a wonderful time at An Cealla over the Easter holidays. Of all the properties we've stayed in over the years across Europe, we think it might just be the best of the lot. Clearly so much thought and care has gone in to making this a true luxury home from home experience. Everything we needed was on hand and all the extra touches, from the fires being ready to go on arrival to the welcome gifts (both for us and for the dog!) made such a difference. We didn't have the best of the weather whilst there (not that we returned home to Scotland for the weather of course!) but being able to cozy up in the snug with the fire on of a grey and wet evening and look out over the hills and the water as darkness fell was perfect. We'd 100% recommend An Cealla to anyone considering staying here, just brilliant.

The best part of our European vacation was our stay here!!
We selected this property for several reasons. First, its location is close to the Hebrides island. We took the ferry from Uig and spent a night on the Isle of Harris. If you want to go somewhere to speak Scottish Gaelic, and see stunning landscapes and beaches, this is the place. Secondly, the property is beautiful! The views from the house are amazing. It is peaceful and quiet. The king-sized bed in the upstairs main room was so comfortable with soft linens. The other top-floor bedroom has two twin beds. The kitchen is fully equipped and even inspired us to cook. The two bathrooms (one on each floor) are modern, beautiful and have heated floors. You can lounge in the massive tub upstairs while looking out at the water and green fields flecked with sheep. This owner made us feel pampered, with a welcome basket of goodies, large bath sheets, beautiful furnishings and artwork. Even the attached laundry room is beautiful and has modern washer and dryer. Glendale is a small, tight knit community. We so enjoyed meeting the people at the Tuesday craft faire, the Skye Weavers, and close by in Dunvegan at the tiny Waterside Cafe Bistro and Misty pizza/fish & chips/gelato. Thank you Ann for such a memorable vacation. It was worth the drive from Edinburgh, learning how to drive on the left side of the tiny roads. We did get used to using the pull-outs on the roads as we waved at the passing cars. We even had a few favorite sheep that we looked for. We want to return.

Awesome Skye Cottage
Five days of absolutely gorgeous blue skies on Skye. The cottage and views are awesome. Beautifully renovated with nothing left to chance. An Cealla is the perfect place to escape and decompress from “mainland life”. The wee shop in Glendale is well stocked if you want to stay put and escape the touristy sites. It was one of our absolutely best VRBO’s we’ve stayed in around the world. I’d give it 10 stars, Scottish Tourist Board. Thank you Ann and Donald for sharing your awesome cottage. Hope to return one day.

Very special place indeed
While the house is quite a bit to one side of the Isle of Skye, the location is well worth it. We had great weather. The view from the from the front of the house is spectacular and the view out the back is pretty nice also. The houses here are spaced hundreds of yards apart at least. The town of Glendale has no gas station - fill up in Dunvegan if you must and very few shops. There are sheep EVERYWHERE, as in: on the roads. You can't go very fast, though, because it's all single-track roads with passing places. Quite the culture shock for Americans. The pace around the Isle of Skye is pretty relaxed. You have to drive to get anywhere or see anything; nothing is close. And you can't drive fast. So, just plan to take awhile to see your places. The property is quite old but it is VERY well maintained and its interior is up to modern standards. All bedrooms are upstairs and are roomy enough - pretty nice overall. The bathrooms have heated floors which are wonderful. The bath upstairs has a HUGE bathtub, but no shower. Very nice potential for a romantic night in. Downstairs bath has a very nice shower however. Downstairs has a complete kitchen - one of the best we've seen in a long time. Eating area is spacious. They even have a separate room with washer, dryer and sauna. We really loved staying here even though it's out of the way.

Fantastic property
Lovely cottage in a stunning location. The cottage was clean and beautifully presented. Everything that you could need for your holiday was available, plenty of towels, toiletries, crockery, etc. There was a lovely welcome hamper with wine, snacks, biscuits. Skye is amazing but be prepared to drive as nowhere is close, it’s bigger than you think!! If you’re going to Skye I would definitely recommend staying here, it’s beautiful.

Fabulous!
An Cealla is a fabulous house and we cannot wait to return! The kitchen is superbly stocked with lots of pans, pots, crockery and cutlery which was fab and never happens in a holiday rental. The beds were comfy and warm and the bath with a view was truly relaxing. The garden and view was amazing and the dog never wanted to come inside even in the rain and a big dark sky led to some great northern lights photos. Loved this stay will definitely be returning.

Fabulous location and stunning views.Fantastic space for dogs because of the location and the outside area .Respect is needed for the surrounding sheep in the nearby fields The house was five star accommodation. When we opened the door we were blown away with the layout and space we had for four people and even presents for the dogs and ourselves. It was fabulously clean ,comfortable and well decorated. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook a evening meal .Ann and Donald thought of everything a guest would love . This was our second stay at An Cealla and it did not disappoint. The cottage is the perfect place to stay! It’s cosy and inviting after a day exploring the island. It’s walking distance from a delightful tearoom serving delicious lunches and cakes. Very convenient for Coral Beach and Neist Point. Everything in the cottage has been carefully considered for your convenience and comfort! Will definitely be back again!

One of the best stays we've experienced
Everything matched the descriptions, the decor was very sophisticated, nothing unnecessary, great design sense. The sauna is a great addition after a long day of walking. Extremely clean with everything you would need - the kitchen especially is perfectly equipped. Interestingly, the first cottage we visited where knives weren't dull! :) The hosts very responsive and helpful. Plenty of instruction and detail in the cottage itself which was very helpful. The location is fantastic, remote but accessible and a great base for exploring the island.

Splendid isolation
From the moment we caught our first glimpse of An Cealla we knew we were in for a treat. Recently and immaculately refurbished the cottage is luxuriously comfortable, beautifully furnished and fully equipped down to the last detail. The kitchen is light and spacious; the bathrooms are spotless with modern, high quality fittings; bedrooms have plenty of space to unpack and are cosy and very comfortable; and the living areas are also warm and welcoming to spend time in. The setting of the cottage is equally impressive with sweeping views across the sea and surrounding hills. Apart from a small flock of sheep there is no sign of anyone else nearby - the sort of isolation we were looking for. The small local shop was surprisingly well-stocked. Our thanks to Ann as well who was a super host - great communications, thoughtful and gracious. We look forward to returning.
