About this property

Loom Cottage, Central Southwold, Pet Friendly & Garage (Sleeps 4, 2 Bedroom)

Bedroom 1 has a double bed, bedroom 2 two single beds. Both rooms are very comfortable, with ample duvets/bedding. The boiler is located in one of the wardrobes in the double bedroom. Hair dryer available.
1 downstairs bathroom, with bath, wc and power shower. Shower switch is outside the bathroom door.
Fully fitted kitchen/diner with a washer/dryer/electric hob/double oven/microwave/toaster/fridge/ice box. (Appliances all electric). There is seating for four, and a stable door which leads to the outside yard. Door giving access to upstairs.
Entering via the front door, the lounge has 1 3 seater sofa bed, 1 2 seater sofa, 1 comfy chair/ 1 footstool/ a large bookcase/ a 40 ins flat screen tv (Freeview)/Blu Ray DVD player. There is an attractive fireplace, with a large mirror. Leads to small, bright lobby area with small window/area for coats/understairs cupboard with hoover etc. Property has full electric central heating, eco friendly. Free WiFi, not guaranteed in event of breakdown.

FREE WiFi. Loom (no 6) and Weavers (no 5) are both lovely character cottages, pre dating 1840. There is a garage for Loom, and parking availability for Weavers, they are situated in a private road just off Southwold Common. They can be booked individually or as a pair (great for extended family breaks allowing privacy yet close proximity at the same time). Weavers and Loom Cottage are located in central Southwold, off the High Street and Southwold Common.Accessed from The High Street, past the Blythe Hotel (after crossing Mights Bridge), then turning right at John Bennett's Architect's shop straight into Spinners Lane. At the end of Spinners Lane, lies 'Rope Walk' where rope and fishing net twine was made in the mid 19th century. There are 2 semi detached white-washed cottages (can be booked as a pair or on their own) on the right as you enter the Lane, and Loom Cottage is the furthest cottage, Weavers is the cottage closest to you in the photos, both are compact and comfortable, with a real 'home to home' feel. There is an outside area to the front of each property, where it is perfect to sit and watch the world go by, there is a bench at the front of Loom, table and chairs at the front of Weavers. There are many homely additions indoors, including a really good book and an impressive dvd collection featuring up to date releases. We welcome dogs (will consider 2-please discuss), on the proviso they stay downstairs! The property is very old, but it has been sympathetically updated, with comfy furnishings. Spinners Lane has only 7 other properties, and the garage is just 15 metres down the Lane. There is a small back yard, with table and chairs, just outside Loom kitchen. No 5 (Weavers) has a smaller back yard and access across the rear of the Loom. In reality this is usually only applicable to take the bins round to the front. Both back yards are enclosed. The pubs, shops and beach are all within 10 mins walk away, fish & chip shop 2 mins walk! The cottages can be booked individually or as a pair, and throughout the year/short breaks/ weekends etc (although these would be mainly out of season). Weavers Cottage (nearest to you in the picture) is very similar (see pictures) and it's hard to choose between the two! The garage for Loom is clearly marked, and in the lane and there is parking in the lane (subject to availability) for Weavers occupants and additional Loom residents. We always manage to park in the lane! It is always possible to load and unload right outside the cottages, which is very convenient. There is additional free parking on the common, just 2 mins walk away! There is a comfy roll up double mattress we can supply on request for Weavers and Loom has a sofa bed in situ downstairs, so the cottage can sleep 5 (discuss first, 4 (adults) would be much easier) at a push. We can also provide a travel cot on request. Staircase in Loom is enclosed, with a handrail, not very steep at all (not like some cottage stairs we have seen which can be scary). Just 10 stairs in Loom, 9 in Weavers. We do welcome children and pooches, we can allow 2 (please discuss) but we must know the breed/s. We have a travel cot/high chair/safety gate which we can supply on request. We are very flexible out of season offering stays from 1 night minimum.

Perfect cottage in great location

Loom Cottage gave us everything we needed for our 2 nights in Southwold. Centrally located and near the common but with an (invaluable!) parking space! All the helpful extras, like tea & coffee, salt & vinegar and loo rolls etc, were provided, as well as an extensive book and dvd library! Beautiful decorative touches around the cottage too 💚

Beautiful little cottage, perfect location and

Great position, excellent if you bring the dog as you’re straight onto the common. Short potter into town and having the garage was a massive plus - no parking woes. Very comfortable cosy cottage, everything we needed and more, such a pleasant mini break, can’t wait to come back. Communication from the owner excellent too, couldn’t fault thing.

Family stay in Southwold

We had a lovely short stay at Loom cottage in Southwold. Kerry the owner communicated really well and was very helpful with all the questions I had. The cottage is well maintained, very clean and just a short walk from the centre, so very convenient. Having the Common at the end of the lane was also wonderful. I would definitely recommend.

Compact cottage, close to the centre of Southwold.

Cottage was well presented and very clean upon arrival. It was a nice touch by the owners to leave Easter Eggs for the children to find and also a victoria sponge cake for the adults! Beds were super comfy. The cottage is in a private, quiet location, just off the main road. The parking was ok, but using the garage was sometimes difficult if other residents parked directly opposite. Would stay again.

Cosy, comfortable cottage

My family really enjoyed our 3 night stay in Loom Cottage during February half term. The cottage is really cosy and comfortable and has lots of charm. Southwold is a lovely town and we found lots of nice walks and places to eat. I would thoroughly recommend both Southwold and Loom Cottage.

Comfortable well equipped cottage

The cottage is small but more than enough space for four people. It is well furnished and the kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. The location is ideal for the beach and the local shops all within walking distance. The Broads and the larger seaside towns of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft are only a thirty minute drive. I certainly would recommend as a great place to stay.

Charming and High Quality

Lovely, lovely cottage! Have stayed in both Loom and Weavers Cottage (right next door to each other!) a few times now. It's like home from home, with a very comfortable interior (a 5ft bed!) and high quality finishing touches. Always a high standard of cleanliness with no deterioration in decoration from one year to the next and there's always something new in the kitchen! It's not a run of the mill holiday cottage let, more like you're holidaying in a friend's home! Plenty of dvd's and games in case you get caught off guard by the rain and the cottage is just off the high street with just a 5-7 minute walk straight to the beach! You can tell this cottage has been put together with careful thought for the people visiting to make their stay as comfortable as possible. Lots of lovely places to eat and drink in Southwold, the pier is a must with cafes and outside seating designed to shield you from the wind! Within the town there is The Sole Bay pub/restaurant, absolutely lovely food and Adnams beers and wines. The Blue Lighthouse, Nelson Arms, and various other places all in easy walking distance of Loom Cottage. Or get the rowing boat from the Harbour near The Harbour Inn (you can see where the water came up to during the floods of 1953) across The River Blyth to Walberswick, and you'll find two fantastic eateries, The Anchor Inn, (eating is believing!) and The Bell Inn. I can highly recommend both Loom & Weavers Cottage and Southwold ? you are guaranteed the rest and relaxation you know you deserve!

Lovely Cottage

We stayed here for 2 nights in November 2021 when storm Arwen was wreaking havoc! The cottage was warm and cosy, very well equipped with lots of nice touches. Covid protocols in place definitely put our minds at ease. Would definitely recommend and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

great place in Southwold

We gave stayed here several times before, as the location is great and Loom cottage has the use of a garage too. We normally put the car in the garage and leave it there till we go home, as you are 1 minutes walk ftom the common, 2 minutes walk to the high street, and about 10 minutes walk to the beach. Kerry is a lovely owner, easy to communicate with and makes the whole process simple. The cottage has everything you may need, kitchen stuff included, towels, bathroom toiletries etc, There are also plenty of dvd/blue rays to watch, games and local info in the living room. Comfortable and cosy, with a seat outside the front door if the weather is good. We are not the sort of people to return to the same place, but we have been back here or to Weavers cottage next dir over 4 times, and still enjoy going bavk. Very happy customers!

Little GEM !

What a fantastic time we had in beautiful Southwold, and staying at this hidden gem!. Loom cottage is very well situated in the centre of the town, very good parking and access facilities. Kerry met us on arrival and is such friendly host, she is just lovely. The cottage is extremely well equipped with high end comforts (lovely bedding and towels) We had marvellous weather and walked for miles, enjoying the excellent range of pubs along the way. highly recommend.

Clean, tidy, welcoming and very well appointed. It was so quiet and nice and warm. Excellent.

Owing to work commitments, we were both exhausted when we arrived at Loom Cottage. It is well situated and was just what we wanted for a few days' rest and peace and quiet. We very much hope to go there again. It is certainly worth every star of the five we have awarded!

The Ideal Cosy Cottage

We made a good choice when we picked Loom Cottage for our stay in Southwold. We had vouchers for an Adams Brewery tour & had tried the local hotels with no luck on a number of different dates. This cottage turned out to be a much better choice, especially with so many nearby establishments offering food. The owners were very helpful, parking wasn't a problem ( despite a 10k race on that day!) & the cottage was immaculate, very comfortable, tastefully furnished & with some thoughtful touches ( box of truffles & a pint of milk). Southwold is gorgeous & the tour was good. Can't wait to stay here again!

We live locally-we are just 1 mile from the cottages. My grandmother used to live in Walberswick-so I have a long history of the area! My husband and I do all the cleaning ourselves. We love theatre, cinema, reading (check out the DVDs in the cottage),long walks, socialising, sport (watching-not doing) comedy, travelling, shopping and food and drink (Steve makes a mean cocktail and collects bourbon). There are great places in Southwold and Walberswick to enjoy good food! I am from Hertfordshire and Steve comes from Surrey. I have a financial and catering background-sounds odd-but a very useful mix! Steve was a printer for many years and is now quite a handy odd job person! We are Arsenal supporters and go a few times every year-please don't hold that against us if you support that other London team!

Why they chose this property

Loom is charming, comfortable and cosy-you will have a real 'Southwold holiday' experience in this lovely old cottage! The location really is perfect-very central but quietly situated! We love it and 60% of our bookings are repeat customers! Parking is (or can be) an issue in Southwold-and Loom comes with a garage!

What makes this property unique

Secure parking. Everything you need. Common on your doorstep-shops just round the corner! John Lewis bedding and towels!
