About this property

Summer Barn, Weybourne, Norfolk

A fabulous luxury, single storey barn conversion set in the heart of this peaceful coastal village, where you will find a great pub, a super, very well-equipped village shop/cafe, and the wonderful North Norfolk coast all within easy walking distance. What more could you want?!

With parts of the building dating back to the Victorian era, this traditional brick and flint barn has been converted to very high modern standards, without losing any of its character as beams and feature flint walls have been retained. The overall impression on entering the barn is one of comfort and relaxed easy living. There is a lovely light open-plan vaulted living area, with skylights and full height bi-fold doors and windows that overlook the south facing garden, running the full length of the room. The sitting area has a wood burning stove to light for extra warmth and ambience, although with underfloor heating in this area and great insulation, you should already be nice and cosy. There are three bedrooms (king size, double and super king zip-and-link, with twin option) and three very smart bathrooms (two are en-suite), making this the perfect holiday home for couples and friends to enjoy time together. Summer Barn will suit families too, especially with older children.

Weybourne is a great little spot as a base for getting out and about exploring this part of North Norfolk, either on foot (there are some fabulous walks to explore from outside the door, both inland and coastal), by catching the Coasthopper bus service that runs through the village or by car. The Georgian town of Holt is just three miles up the road, where you will find boutiques, galleries and a variety of places to eat. Sheringham, the next coastal resort along the coast, is a bustling traditional seaside town where fisherman still bring in their daily catch. You will find plenty of facilities, including many interesting shops, a museum, pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, as well as a supermarket and filling station. If you fancy a day trip to Norwich, you can catch a train from Sheringham town centre.

Additional Information:
Two well-behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge)
Feather duvets, hypoallergenic pillows.
Underfloor heating in the living area, radiators in the bedrooms and bathrooms.
Please request required make-up of the bed in bedroom three at time of booking.
There is no equipment provided for babies.
Access Note: There are a few internal steps, though they are not steep.
Please note, there is no starter pack (which includes tea, coffee, sugar and milk) or welcome hamper provided at this property.

Exploring Norfolk
This a beautiful, well equipped property in a quiet village on the coast. It's ideal for exploring the coast and other parts of Norfolk. Everything has been done to a high standard and it is very comfortable and exceptionally clean.

Christmas Break
Beautiful Barn in lovely location. Just as in photos. Plenty of glasses, cutlery, pans and crockery. Couple of suggestions- declutter some of the kitchen cupboards enabling more space for visitors food, etc. Duvet covers need to be larger ie when two duvets are used. Blind needed in Master Bedroom on suite. We had fabulous stay and enjoyed the surroundings. So much to visit.

Warm and comfortable
A splendid barn conversion in the coastal village of Weybourne. Warm, comfortable and very well equipped it is very close (50 yards!) to the friendly village shop and pub, the Ship - open every day even in winter and serving very decent beer and excellent food. Parking space for two cars so a third needs to park on the road which might be a problem in high season. Very good facilities and fully equipped for self catering including double oven and microwave although lacking an oven glove (which we bought from the brilliant hardware shop in Sheringham) and, oddly, only four egg cups and five wine glasses in a place for 6!

Birthday celebrations with the family
We had a wonderful stay at Summer Barn celebrating 2 family birthdays. We picked the wettest and windiest weekend to stay but the barn was so lovely and warm, we made use of the log burner which was lovely after a short windswept walk to the beach and cliffs. The rooms were amazing with 2 en-suites and the third having a private luxury bathroom. Plenty of utensils for cooking in the kitchen and even a dishwasher and washing machine. Plenty of seating in the living area for all 6 of us. Pub and village shop/cafe in the village were lovely and not too far (3 miles) away from Sheringham and Cromer. Just perfect.

What a lovely place to stay
Summer Barn is a beautifully renovated, well equipped home from home. Perfect for relaxing with family and friends. It has 3 lovely bedrooms and 3 bathrooms - great when there are 6 of you staying. The lounge/dining/kitchen area is bright and airy and the courtyard garden a great extra - in the summer I imagine it would be fantastic with all the doors opened out onto it. This place is really special, great no matter what the season. We will definitely be back!

Enjoyable stay
Group of 5 women had a restful stay barn was lovely very disappointed that I had to phone to get the single beds separated after requesting this on the booking form had to phone again to get the dvd player set up!!! A book is available with info on all appliances but couldn't find any info on telly and dvd. There were no toilet rolls or hand soap dishwasher tablets washing up liquid no basics at all!! A washing line is available but no pegs??? Covid can't be an excuse for not having these items as there were books newspapers games and puzzles available to use. Very clean apart from dust and crumbs under sofa when we moved it. The barn is equipped well in the kitchen area and plenty of towels. The area is lovely especially the beach good pub but probably would need a car to venture out!! All in all an enjoyable stay shame about the items mentioned.I would recommend.

We had an amazing stay at Summer Barn
We loved our time staying at Summer Barn. The barn is beautifully furnished and decorated. The beds and sofa are very comfortable and it had everything we needed for a lovely holiday. We loved seeing the sights of North Norfolk. The village shop is very handy with lovely bread.

Excellent accommodation but hygiene issues
Barn ticket all the boxes, lovely decoration, excellent FurnishingFabrics, good location + parking. 1. BUT no mattress protector & missing pillow protector on super king, stained mattress. Fully aware not legal requirements, but with Covid, surely this is totally unacceptable. One of the doubles had a stained mattress protector also. 2. Mid August, we had 9 tog quilts on beds, why when they were the combination style, where were the 4.5tog, no flat sheets so totally overheated whilst trying to sleep. 3. WC Rolls - on arrival main bathroom had a 1/3 rd of a roll left from previous guests, not even an extra one as spare , this was previously commented on in visitors book - . So we pay £1.3k for a wk & receive this treatment. Should we be sharing such items COVID is still out there. In summary, luxury accommodation, marketed outstanding, high quality sadly let down by shortcuts, poor attention to details, suggestion PROFIT is more important than guest satisfaction.

A lovely cottage spoilt by spiders
Firstly, we were completely satisfied with the measures in place to ensure the property was Covid-secure. The kitchen and bathrooms were all spotlessly clean; the beds were comfortable and the bed linen was very fresh. I appreciate how difficult it must be for owners and cleaners to turn around properties in a very short space of time. However, we did encounter a serious problem with spiders (and this is why we have marked the cottage down for cleanliness and condition). We had booked Summer Barn as we wanted something for our son and his partner (who are both key workers) to look forward to. My son's partner is a NHS employee and has recently been volunteering at local Vaccination Centres. We all went to bed on the first night, but it wasn't too long before our son's partner appeared at our bedroom door in floods of tears after encountering a large number of spiders in their bedroom. My husband and son tried to clear the bedroom of the spiders and we all went back to bed. Unfortunately more spiders appeared within minutes and at this point my son's partner became extremely distressed. Spiders had also appeared in the kitchen (my son thought many of them had appeared from underneath the fridge-freezer), hall and lounge. My son's partner felt there was "nowhere for her to go" to avoid them. She was so upset that a decision was made for them to return home (a three hour journey). They had been in the cottage for not much more than 6 hours. I appreciate that, as the name suggests, Summer Barn is an old building and the exposed walls (clearly shown in photographs on the website) are probably more prone to more cobwebs/spiders than perhaps other types of accommodation. I also understand how difficult it must be to keep this type of property completely cobweb free. However on closer inspection the exposed walls in the bedroom (the one directly behind the kitchen) was covered in cobwebs (far too many to remove with a feather duster that night). Again, I appreciate that a focus currently has to (and should be) on making sure the property is Covid-secure, however I felt I had to write to Norfolk Hideaways to raise my concerns, bearing in mind how distressed my son's partner was; and how the experience had done exactly the opposite (in terms of providing a relaxing break for these two young key workers). I would not wish anyone else to go through the same experience and suggested the owner may wish to investigate whether there was some kind of spider's nest/infestation in the property. Sadly the response from the company was disappointing and somewhat dismissive, stating: "I'm afraid in the countryside it is a normal occurrence especially at this time of the year" and "We do ask our housekeeping team to leave a spray at the property and I’ll make sure this has been happening". Perhaps in trying to be diplomatic I did not emphasise clearly enough the impact this episode had upon us all (and this is why I have marked customer service as 3). Summer Barn is a lovely property in a fabulous location. I'm just sorry that my son's partner did not get the change to appreciate it or take the break she so much needed; was looking forward to; and deserved. Sadly the holiday was spoilt for all of us as a result.

Perfect stay in Weybourne
As a family group this property was perfect for us - spacious yet cosy, well equipped and great location to stroll out from the front door to the great village pub, brilliant local store and some lovely walks (one with a steam train viewing on the way).

Long awaited family holiday with first grandchild
Family holiday with both our adult sons, one partner and 5 month old baby - first real get together since COVID. From start to finish an excellent relaxing week away. Can’t fault the standard and cleanliness of the accommodation. Was more than a home from home!! Just wanted to stay longer. Location was perfect - 5 minute walk to beach - completely unspoilt and quiet and only 20 mins to beautiful Wells beach and less to Sheringham the other way. Had a wonderful afternoon tea in Holt and excellent meal at The Dun Cow in Salthouse. Only complaint would be maybe need bigger wheelie bins - 5 adults create a lot of rubbish and unfortunately the recycle bin was pretty full when we arrived. Otherwise perfect - beautiful sunny garden to eat breakfast and listen to the birds.

An exceptionally well equipped and comfortable cottage
Very attractive cottage in Weybourne. Very well equipped and very comfortable. All of the beds were very comfortable and the 3 en suite/bathrooms made it ideal for more than one family to stay. Easy walk to the beach (but don’t expect sand). Very attractive decor and colour scheme. Outdoor space not huge but pretty, although the absence of a gate means it isn’t secure for small children.

Fabulous stay!
Great property in a beautiful location! The house was very clean and brilliantly equipped. The beach is a short walk with amazing views and there is a great pub and coffee shop a stones throw from the cottage. We would highly recommend and would love to return one day.

Great cottage, great location please read on re a few niggles
This is a great cottage in a wonderful location. The living/kitchen area is a great sociable space and well equipped. The patio garden is lovely and parking good for 2 cars. However, there were a few niggles; the wardrobe in the Master bedroom is barely a single wardrobe, the heated towel rail in the en-suite is very small and was too high to be able to put a towel on it let alone get 2 towels on it, there was no where to hang a hand towel. With under bed draws there was no where to store luggage, the Master bedroom and its en-suite felt small and became cluttered. The large bedroom next to the kitchen is a much better room. The very small middle bedroom is not suitable for 2 adults due to its lack of storage space, 3 small shelves and 3 hooks behind the door. A clothes horse would be a great addition for drying towels and coats when wet. I would rent this property again but for a maximum of 4 adults so that the small bedroom can be used for storage of luggage and clothes that do not fit in the Master bedroom. The correct instruction booklet for the microwave would be good.
