It is in Avenidas Novas that the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is found, a cultural icon of Lisbon, totally unmissable. Very close is the Blue Quarter, an architectural complex from the 1930s, with Art Deco buildings, low reliefs, pilasters, friezes and pediments decorated in the shape of the Amália Rodrigues garden and the Eduardo VII park next door, this is a good area to walk around and shop at El Corte Inglès, the country's largest department store.
