About this property

Dream Canyon A Mountain Paradise Retreat STR# 21-0013

Just fifteen minutes west of Boulder, a place of relaxation, a getaway-from-it-all place that’s close to Boulder. At 7,600 feet, it is located near the base of Sugarloaf Mountain, overlooking Dream Canyon and the massive Lost Angel granite cliffs, above Boulder Falls — this reads like a fairy tale — it feels like that too — be sure to read the guest comments.

Everywhere you look you’ll feel the grandeur. The view from each window is a blessing for eye and soul — mountains, the continental divide, cliffs, sunrises, sunsets, and the intensity of stars in the night sky.

You can feel the silence along with gentle, soothing sounds of North Boulder Creek.

Google “The most beautiful rock climbing spots near Boulder” to see the Lost Angel Granite Cliffs that dominate the front yard.

An outdoor dining table gives a ringside seat to rock climbers, occasional slack-liners, and the abundant wildlife that passes through the property. Hummingbirds, Moose, Deer, Fox, Coyotes, Golden Eagles, Bears (rarely), and Elk.

This home is one level with flagstone floors. There are two bedrooms, two baths, and a multipurpose room (optionally a third bedroom, a dining room, or an office with a pull out queen futon ). This home is nonsmoking and pet free zone for anyone with allergies to stay.

There’s 32” Roku Smart TV with guest mode to access all your subscriptions in living space.

Amazing mountain cabin

Three of us stayed here for three nights. Old guys trip. We were very comfortable. The cabin is only about 20 minutes from Boulder, but you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. The views are amazing. The property manager Donna was very nice and helpful. I hope we can stay here again sometime.

I want to keep this place all to myself! Donna, property manager, was fantastic to communicate with. The house and location was beautiful and serene. The location was so convenient to downtown Boulder. Our daughter and son-in-law moved to Boulder area in January and we will definetly be returning to stay at this location soon. Thank you again Donna!

Amazing Trip

We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend. It was easy to get to Denver, Boulder and Estes Park. The first drive down the gravel is a bit daunting but you get used to it! We enjoyed dinner every OG Hy on the picnic table, hiked up and down to the creek and enjoyed the provided games, books and puzzles. We had an amazing family trip.

Mountain Retreat

We had a lovely stay on Sugarloaf Mountain. It was a mountain retreat getaway for us and the place is perfect for that. Still so close to Boulder, but so private and peaceful. The whole place has the feel of being intentionally designed as a spiritual retreat and that’s exactly what it was for us. Yes, the road down to the place is a very narrow steep dirt road, but totally manageable and totally worth it. We enjoyed a nearby hike down to Dream Canyon. We would love to return someday for a longer stay!

Quiet Getaway

This is a wonderful retreat for getting away from it all. The house is well appointed, lots of storage space, hangers (yay!), not too far to Pearl Street Mall but definitely out of the main drag. The house is decorated so nicely and it makes for a very homey feeling. We saw a rock climber, deer, chipmunks and bunnies. There is a birds nest over the front porch and mama bird was busy feeding her hatchlings the whole time we were there. Played Yahtzee and did 3 puzzles, took walks, and thoroughly enjoyed the quiet. Also very comfy main bed :) Thank you for a lovely stay.

Slice of Heaven

My husband surprised me with a trip to Colorado, but we chose where we would stay together. We decided that a quiet getaway would be perfect and this was the house just for that! It was so peaceful, clean, and quiet. So much so, we waited until the last possible minute to leave before checkout. We didn’t want to leave this little slice of heaven!!!

Nice stay would consider returning

Enjoyed the stay. But have to be honest the 3K deposit was concerning. We paid a cleaning fee but the expectation of washing everything was over the top. The price per night was very good. View and experience was amazing. Turning around in the driveway was scary but overall things were well explained in the notes. I would recommend for the first night be sure to show up before dark. I am sure my sister will send a photo or two of Bob the young Moose. That was a highlight of the stay.

Amazing views and solitude

House was great and had everything you need. The hostess was great, checking to make sure that we arrived and periodically through the week. The views were spectacular, and could be seen from everywhere in the house. I enjoyed sitting outside the house listening to the river below and the winds sweeping through the canyon. Didn't check, but I swear my BP dropped a few dozen points. We enjoyed hiking during the day, the trails in Eldora were some of the best we have seen and only 10-15 mins away. As others have mentioned, the driveway is not for the faint of heart but easily mastered. We were in a 4wd truck, which required some additional maneuvering due to length, but manageable. I would definitely drive a vehicle with some ground clearance. If you want to get away from it all... this is place. I hope to visit again.

Family CO Trip

The view that this house has to offer is unmatched!! We’re taking a family trip going to 6 different locations in colorado and this one is by far our favorite place. The home was beautifully decorated and peaceful. Sitting outside we were able to see more hummingbirds in 4 days than I have in my life, it was so magical being on that mountain!! Donna was so helpful and sweet! We will definitely stay here again. The only thing I would caution anyone to is the driveway, it is a dirt road which was ok, but as you get closer to the house it does go down hill a bit which made my mother in law very nervous but once we did it a couple times she was fine, just make sure you arrive during the day the first day. Also if you have little ones in diapers make sure you are taking them to town when you go to dispose of them yourself - these are minor things that are so worth it to stay here!! It’s a dream!

Bliss on the Cliffs

We had such a beautiful time at this property! The views are absolutely stunning. The property is fairly well appointed- a few items had to be searched for and the kitchen could use a few more items. But overall, it really was the most comfortable little place with just incredible views. We really loved our stay here. My only real word of advice- the instructions to get to the place were very confusing and we got super lost before finding our way. But the property manager was very attentive , the house was spotless and we had an amazing time.

The house is very nice but…..

I rented the property for a trip to celebrate my son’s graduation from college. There is no doubt the house is beautiful. It is evident that a LOT of time and effort went into planning this beautiful home and it is clearly the homeowner’s pride and joy!! The area is peaceful and quiet. There is a variety of wildlife and we enjoyed watching the rock climbers scale the cliffs. The home was comfortable and had everything needed for the week. The driveway can easily be navigated after a time or two despite being a bit intimidating at first. I do disagree that the house is “always” 10 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. We did not find that to be the case. I do wish there were window treatments to keep some of the sunlight/heat out in the middle of the day and storm doors with screens so we could let the breeze in and keep the bugs out. But overall the house is a gem!! My only initial concern about the listing was the constant responses from the property manager on the VRBO site when someone posted a review that wasn’t 100% complimentary. That was a red flag. Donna was indeed a NIGHTMARE!!! RUDE text messages accusing us trying to get into the property early. She accused us of “demanding” to leave our luggage when the cleaning chick actually OFFERED it….just so we had room in our car for groceries. We didn’t know it would be a made a huge issye. Donna sends out 5-6 pages of instructions pre-check-in with 2 paragraphs on how to clean the hummingbird feeder (which we never did find) but NO mention of a check-in time. “That’s on the VRBO ad”….which btw you can’t access, no internet in the mountains. She upset me so much I lstarted crying at a restaurant upon receiving her texts. Then she left a voicemail “apology” that she was sorry I got upset (“Real Housewives”). Also on her litany of instructions it’s “notify Donna of this…notify Donna of that.” Ummm NO. Donna it’s not MY job to call the cable guy if the cable goes out or to let you know when the propane is low in the grill. That’s YOUR job and what you get PAID FOR!! Ive never seen instructions as ridiculous as these in any of the many VRBOs I’ve rented. The homeowner would do well to find a manager who is more professional and courteous. Donna is a detriment to this whole experience and we will NEVER be back. We even left a day early. We left immaculately clean and took pics and video to cover ourselves. Look below I’m sure Donna will post some clap-back as she always seems to.

This property had the most beautiful views! We enjoyed drinking our coffee and watching the climbers across the canyon every morning. Richard built his house at Dream Canyon in the Sugarloaf Mountain area west of Boulder, Colorado. He had a Healing Practice helping people with personal awakening and energy medicine until he met Denise from Brazil. He now spends summers in Brazil.

Why they chose this property

I didn't intend to buy property or build a home. I was house-sitting for a friend in the area. The first day, I took my dog for a walk. At the end of the driveway, I took a right and walked down N. Gulch Rd. In a forest area, I looked across the canyon and saw a beautiful area with a burned-out house. I thought, "I wonder if this land is for sale." The second day, we took a left. Coming down a deserted road, I saw the cliffs. Very moved by the sight, I caught my breath. A couple minutes later, I was at the burned-out house and I realized I was across the area from the day before.
A month later, I house-sat again and met the landlord. I did not tell him or anyone else about the land or the house.
A month after that, the landlord called me. He said, "How would you like to come look at some property I have for sale. I met him and he drove me down the road. He stopped at the area where I caught my breath at the sight of the cliffs and said, "This is it." So, I didn't choose. "Life" chose this property for me. It took six years to build my home. I received the Certificate of Occupancy last year -- May 2017.

What makes this property unique

The home is at ~7,600 ft. In the summer, the area is 10˚ cooler than Boulder and inside it's 10˚ cooler than outside. So, 90˚ in Boulder means 70˚ inside. By opening windows you can regulate the temperature.
The area will transmit its peace and quiet within you.
There's wildlife every day. They've all run from me, but beware; don't feed or approach them.
