Important information for SPRING and SUMMER 2025. Although our home and cove were unaffected by Hurricane Helene, there are still some repairs happening around the lake. As a result, the town has temporarily paused boating and swimming for the next few months. While lake access isn't available at this time, we're excited to offer our beautiful mountain home with breathtaking lake views at a reduced rate. We've adjusted our rental prices and minimum stay requirements to reflect this change, making it an ideal opportunity for a peaceful retreat. Western North Carolina has bounced back beautifully, and the lake's serene charm remains. Come experience the natural beauty and tranquility that this area offers. Lake Lure is truly beautiful in every season. Our home, Hickory Nut Landing, on Hummingbird Cove, provides space where your family can take full advantage of all that the lake offers. We have carefully and thoughtfully remodeled the entire home, inside and out, with an eye for design and comfort.

A wall of windows on the main floor fills the house with light and amazing mountain views. Whether you are hanging out in the large living room (with three big comfortable couches), dining in at the table with seating for eight, or cooking in the fully equipped kitchen on the oversized granite island, you will appreciate the spacious open floor plan.

We love to cook and have outfitted the kitchen with everything you might need to feed your group. This includes a drip coffee maker with filters provided, a toaster, and blender (love those frozen vacation beverages!), as well as cabinet space to put your pantry items.

There's even a nook for card playing and puzzle puzzling. This space is fresh and friendly and we want you to feel at home.

Upstairs there is a cozy den for TV watching and with access to connect all of your subscription channels and unlimited Wi-Fi access for streaming and more. The three bedrooms are outfitted with a king bed, a queen bed and kid-friendly bunk room with two upper twin bunks for children, one lower twin bed as well as a double bed below. The king and queen bedrooms facing the lake are generously sized and you will awaken to see the morning sun sparkling on the water.

We have recently renovated both bathrooms in the house and added a walk-in shower to our downstairs bathroom. They are fresh and ready for use.

The house offers multiple generous outdoor living spaces. You can relax on top of the brand new boathouse deck, chill on the covered dock looks out on our quiet cove, sit on the shaded side patio, or hang out in the lower screened porch, with comfy seating and even an air hockey game for little and big kids. We have a gas grill for cookouts and we offer four kayaks (2 adult and 2 child-sized) and two standup paddle boards.

We are ideally situated just inside Hummingbird Cove. This allows for both the calm waters found off the main lake and the unbelievable views not often seen in deeper coves. While the lake is never very busy, and there are no jet skis on the water, Hummingbird Cove offers a quiet setting beyond what Lake Lure already offers. Our family loves to hang out on the covered lower boathouse decks while our kids swim and play in the waist-deep water right below.
Our boathouse offers parking for either your boat or a rental from one of our local vendors. There are bumpers and cleats to make it easy to park on the water.
Our pet policy welcomes one to two small/medium dogs (up to 50 lbs) but unfortunately, we can't manage larger dogs or cats. We provide water and food dishes and a few tennis balls if you have an avid swimmer. Please plan on bringing pet towels if you have a water dog. Pets are not allowed on the furniture or the beds to make sure we can provide a great experience for all guests.

Our house is well suited for up to six adults. Bunk beds are only for the kiddos!
