The house was amazing and the perfect location for a Christmas family vacation. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, and the house has ample room for a family of 12, the wrap around porch provides amazing views.
About 20 of us celebrated my bday and some other winter bdays and hit the casino! We loved this cabin. It was HUGE. The pics do not give it justice. We will def stay again.

Reviewer Comments:
We had a great weekend staying at the Elk Lodge. It was very accommodating for our group of 3 families and it is close to Cataloochee Ski Resort. Overall a great stay and we would definitely come back. One thing that caught us off guard was that internet bandwidth is limited on a monthly basis. We didn't find this out until we got our check-in info. The good thing is we didn't want our kids or us on devices so this was not a big deal for us. Thank you Melissa for being a great host who was very responsive before and during our stay.
We had an awesome time at the house. It was a long weekend we have been looking forward to for months and it exceeded expectations. The only thing that could use improvement is a more functionable TV and outdoor grill. Other than that, 5 stars!

We enjoyed every moment of our 3 night stay with great meals from the kitchen, games, the hot tub, exploring the shops in Waynesville and discovering the Sweet Onion for lunch... and non stop laughter with this fun group to get away from every day responsibilities!
This is a beautiful property. The pictures don't do it justice.
Well maintained, with a fully stocked kitchen. Large rooms and clean from top to bottom. Our family vacation was a huge success!
All the outdoor decks provided peaceful outdoor seating.
The only down thing was the long gravel driveway, but that wasn't much of a problem.
The resident woodchuck that lives behind the waterfall was very entertaining!
We would all recommend this property.

Our family from North Carolina and Georgia had such a wonderful time at this lodge. It was beautiful and roomy. You had the choice to gather together or have time to yourself. The kitchen was the best with EVERYTHING you needed to prepare meals. The kids (big and little) enjoyed the game room. This was an absolutely wonderful weekend.

We loved our stay at the Blue Ridge Elk Lodge. There was plenty of space for our four families to hang out. The house is gorgeous and pretty well stocked for a big group. Overall it was very clean and in good shape - pretty much what I expected for a large rental home. It snowed and it was beautiful but we did have to shovel the driveway to get out. We loved our stay here!

Our group of 6 couples wanted a fall get away that included fall foliage, hiking, cool weather, beautiful scenery and a fabulous home to share. Blue Ridge Elk Lodge was the perfect answer to all of those requests. This is a fabulous home with plenty of room for large groups. The large kitchen was well stocked with cooking/serving items and had plenty of room for many chefs in the kitchen. The large deck with a wonderful fireplace and rockers overlooks a beautiful forest. Watch for a parade of elk along the property line! The home is a short drive from Maggie Valley and a perfect day trip from Asheville.

Nice Location, Tired Property
The location was very nice and the space certainly accommodated our party of 12. I liked the ability for all of us to be in the living room together. However, there were several items that should be addressed: There were 5 forks for the entire group. The property was dusty and and the widows were not cleaned well. The WiFi was not adequate for today's needs. We essentially had no or very little service during our stay. There were several items laying around the outside of the cabin that would have been dangerous to younger guests. The view from the front porch is beautiful! However, there was not enough furniture for the porch and the rocking chairs were loose. This property could be returned to top condition with a little TLC.

Reviewer Comments:
We were very happy with our stay at the Blue Ridge Elk Lodge! We had 6 families with 22 people staying very comfortably in this spacious home. The layout was perfect with the young adults staying in the basement bedrooms near the game room. Activities within an hour were ziplining, rafting, fishing and hiking. As other reviewers noted, the driveway is steep and cell phone/wifi is spotty but we knew that going in. At first I worried about it being a little remote on a gravel road, but people enjoyed the quiet privacy and seeing elk along the road!Tip: We brought a long folding table and twelve folding chairs so that we could seat everyone for meals at the same time. There was plenty of room in the large living area to set that up.
We were 23 total ranging from grandparents to 2 years old. The multiple floors, the game room, and the hot tub were the highlights. The a/c went out while we were there and the owner came right over to help resolve the issue.
One mouse was spotted by the fireplace on the main floor one night about mid stay.
The driveway proved very tricky to get in and out of for us flat landers. The 15 passenger 2-wheel drive nearly got stuck a few times. The listing says a 4x4 access but 2-wheel drives can get out with low gear but the gravel makes it very tricky. Really hope the owner considers paving the steep grade and putting traction lines down. Great place to get away from it all for large groups. Wifi and cell service was minimal for both AT&T and Verizon phones which was perfect for us to keep the teenager off their phones.
Other than the few downsides, this was a perfect place for out family getaway. Highly recommended.

Our group of 23 LOVED the Blue Ridge Elk Lodge. Plenty of room and everything was clean and gorgeous. This is truly a unique home with a lot of thought put into its design. The location is great - we made trips to Asheville, Cherokee, Clingman's Dome, and Bryson City from here. The property is large and beautiful and includes a short trail down to a stream. The owner lives nearby and was very kind and helpful sharing information about the property and the area. The kitchen is equipped with tons of pots, pans, dishes, and flatware for a large group, and the house has a large capacity washer and dryer. The only downside was that while the master bath has instantly hot water with its own tankless hot water heater, the other bathrooms could use a larger tank. Just try to stagger showers so there's time for water to heat up between uses if you have a large group.

Reviewer Comments:
The set up of the home is wonderful! It is huge and there is plenty of space to spread out- even with our party of 24. You are in the middle of the mountains so don’t expect lightening speed wifi and your cellular service most likely will be non-existent. This isn’t to any fault of the owners, but just a bonus of being secluded by trees on top of a mountain. The home itself is beautiful with all the logs and woodwork. The lighting could be better- just switching to LED white light throughout the home would help significantly. The driveway is rather small. We were able to fit 4 cars in with some maneuvering, but it is tight. You will need front wheel drive, at minimum, to get into and out of driveway. In the winter months I would suspect 4 wheel drive or AWD only. The owner and property manager were both very responsive and attended to the questions we had during our stay. We enjoyed our week long getaway and would return again.
Overall we had a great time at this cabin. The pictures don't do it justice, it is HUGE. There was plenty of room for all 19 of us and the basement was amazing for all the kids. The house was clean and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed and more! The porches were amazing, the hot tub was great and you could hear a stream somewhere off in the woods! So relaxing! We went on the Polar Express while we were there. It was about 40 min drive but it was an easy to navigate to Bryson City from the cabins location. We also had a Christmas Vacation movie night and the living room couches easily fits us all!
My only complaints were that the paper products (TP, paper towels, hand soap, etc) were not included or guarunteed to be there. These items wound up being there (I'm assuming from past guest), but it would have been nice not to have to worry about bringing those types of items with us. I would not expect paper plates or cups to be provided but the others listed above should just be part of the rental in my opinion. Additionally, a few of the beds were squeaky and a bit uncomfortable. They could use an upgrade.
Other than those minor things, we had a wonderful time and would definitely stay again! The cabin was absolutely beautiful and the house allowed for our whole family to enjoy spending time together to kick of the holiday season!

Reviewer Comments:
The home was clean and spacious with plenty of room for everyone and, overall, our stay was enjoyable. However, more attention needs to be paid preparing the home for renters. For instance, the TV remote for the TV in the family room wasn't found until the fourth day, up until that time the TV was almost unusable. The TV down in the lower level was unusable because the HDMI cable for the cable box to the TV was missing and the TV had no remote to turn it off and on. The furniture around the fire pit was too flimsy to support any weight; someone could have been injured trying to sit in them. And most importantly, the heat in the master bedroom was almost unbearable, generally hovering above 80 degrees. The home itself, and the location, made our stay enjoyable. I would recommend this property to a friend provided the heat in the master bedroom be corrected, and more attention to detail be paid. For the price of the rental, inconveniences, however slight, should be kept to a minimum.

Disliked: Listing accuracy
Mislead
The pictures shown with the listing are not recent. The house was/is in major need of attention. Lots of things are worn out: towels, coffee cups, comforters, etc- we replaced light bulbs- worked on wiring- fixed the stove….The internet, Dish, nor landline worked the length of our stay.
The air conditioning controls (all 4 of them) were in lock boxes and we had no key or way to access. We used coat hangers to change the temp (they were all set on 80 upon arrival). Only one room in the house had air that worked. We were told the air was working when it was set on 67 and the inside temp was 80. We contacted the property management numerous times and it was not until on our way home we felt our concerns were truly addressed. I texted the PM one last time on the way home and she did offer a partial refund. The house has wonderful potential. We loved the location- end of town, not too far from Joey’s. We loved the layout with all the space. The wrap around porch is great - porch swing and all!! The house is just not in condition to be rented. The PM did say she was going to address the issues.
Before you rent- ask lots of questions- Make sure you are actually getting what you see.
