Bass Cottage is absolutely delightful, very nicely decorated and with plenty of space. It has everything you could need and is so comfortable. The beach is seconds away, great for walking the dogs. We did a lot of sightseeing and walking but it was always lovely to get back to the cottage. Really wonderful place, would highly recommend.
When you look for the perfect cottage to stay in Cornwall, look no further! The cottage has everything to spend perfect days, it is decorated with lots of love, and Porthallow is a very quiet village allowing to forget everyday stress and to relax. We hope to come back!
We had a great time at Bass Cottage, the location being so close to the sea was perfect. The cottage itself is lovely, exceptionally well maintained and equipped with everything that we needed for our stay. We would highly recommend Bass cottage as a place to stay and unwind.
Lovely cottage recently renovated, with a very secluded pretty garden, nestled at the bottom of a small valley only a few yards from an atttractive sea bay and pub. We loved every minute of our stay from the cottag and the walks tothe meals and the very friendly locals.highl recommend.
Really enjoyable break in this lovely cottage. Very tastefully decorated with every thing you would need.
A real home from home. I would recommend this property to my friends and family however the location was rather remote and as it is early May there was no beach bistro or pub open.
Lovely property in a quiet cove perfect for unwinding. Very well equipped with nice welcome pack.
Good food in the 5 Pilchards with friendly staff.
Plenty of local walks. The area has lots of small coves & picturesque views.
Bass Cottage is the best holiday cottage we have stayed at in the UK. Everything is top quality and it lacks nothing at all. Very friendly village with a great pub and cafes. If we holiday in the UK again we will definitely be returning. Just perfect.
We enjoyed our stay. The property was ideal for the two of us and two dogs. The location is very peaceful. Only downside was the the pub had lost its chef so there was nowhere to eat out within reasonable walking distance. They were working on that so hopefully not an issue for future bookings.
Just a lovely property in a great location. It's obviously on the small side being a Fishermans cottage but it's bigger than it looks in the photos as was big enough for the 4 of us. The dining table seats 4 easily.
The decor is lovely, really calming and the upstairs bedroom are lovely and light with the high ceilings.
The beach is great for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking etc.
The Fat Apple Cafe is definitely worth visiting as well.
The thing we liked the most was how quiet is was compared to even the surrounding beaches. Will be staying here again and would definitely recommend it. Thanks Jon!
The cottage was well equipped and the garden opposite was a little place to escape from the family. Port Hallow was remote and the pub opening times were erratic and the Beach cafe simply wasn’t open despite information to the contrary when l emailed them prior to our visit.
Beds were very comfortable. The cottage is a short walk to the beach and the whole area is dog friendly. It took me a while to get used to the small Cornish roads and reversing skill is essential. I would recommend the Fat Apple cafe that is 0.4 miles away - brilliant friendly service and excellent food.
This was just a beautiful place to stay. The cottage was amazing and had everything we needed.
It was so quiet and with the perfect weather also, it was just heaven.
The cottage is of a very high standard and we would recommend to anyone. We are so glad we found this place and will definately return.
Beach was super especially early morning when dogs could rome free which they loved.
The pub was fine and the food good.
Overall a perfect stay.
Thank you to the hosts for such a superb place.
This cottage is in an amazing location, lovely town and right by the sea. The place itself has everything you might need. Comfy beds and lovely bath. We had a magical stay, thank you!
Finished to a high standard, cosy and comfortable with all amenities available. Close to the beach and pub and with many walking paths, including the coastal path, right on your doorstep.
We had a great time at Jon’s cottage. Beautifully decorated and well maintained. Located a stones throw from beach and pub in quiet picture postcard village.
We had a wonderful stay at Bass Cottage, all the communication with Jon, the owner was excellent- he replied to any queries super quick and was extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage was very well equipped and tastefully decorated with great linen and towels, it was spotlessly clean on arrival and you can tell a lot of thought and care has gone into the design and layout. It is snug for 4 adults, especially the second bedroom and the seating in the lounge but wasn’t a problem for us. We didn’t realise beforehand that the garden was over the road but this was fine and is very private. The only improvement we could think of is providing 4 outside chairs instead of 2 - even a couple of fold-up camping chairs would have been useful and personally we don’t find the picnic bench outside seating very comfortable- a table with chairs would have suited us better. We loved sitting out the front of the cottage with a cup of tea and watching life go by in Porthallow. Lots of great walks from the doorstep a friendly pub with good food in the village and the sea a stone’s throw away. We LOVED it!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Bass cottage. The location is excellent. We enjoyed that fact that the beach was so close which made it easy to set off with our kayaks! The property itself is finished to a very high standard. Kitchen was very well equipped although the fridge/freezer was on a small side.
We loved it and can’t wait to come back!
