Beach kitchen kept me in the action

First impression, Beautifully groomed yard! Bedrooms are small but beds are very comfortable. We spent most of our time outside. Wonderful large sand beach! Our 4 grandchildren 2,4,6 & 8 spent hours entertaining themselves from morning to night. We enjoyed kayaking and paddle-boarding and cooling of in the clean water lake. Our hosts James and Mary are wonderful hosts!

Beautiful peaceful picturesque.

Great location! Fun water activities float mat kept the boys busy for hours. Really enjoyed the kayaking Great morning and afternoon sun. Fortunately we did not need to share the kitchen space with other guest. As a group of five we felt that we filled the space. A/C was great. Lots of mosquitoes tho!

Inhospitable Hosts

We would not go back. We even left a day eatly. They would not let my grandson fish from the dock. There were rules for everything in the kitchen. It was excessive! No bbq sauce to be used on the grill, no cutting meat or onions on the cutting board etc. When we arrived the hosts would not even shut the sprinklers off so we could unload our things to get to the cabin. It was a complete waste of money. We do not recommend it if you want the privacy and welcome a true vacation rental. Extremely disappointed in this experience!!!

Buyer Beware - Read listing details/Read Instructions

Most importantly - this location is only for those with small families looking to enjoy a nice quiet family vacation with a great beachfront location. In our experience DO NOT expect to be allowed any visitors to the location. According to instructions visitors may be allowed with prior approval by the innkeeper and if all liability forms have been completed by the visitors. There is also a $10 fee for adult visitors and a $5 fee for child visitors. Unfortunately due to our overexcitement upon arrival we skipped reading all these instructions provided in our room before heading to the beach and inviting our 3 nieces and 2 grandparents. We were dramatically and harshly confronted by the innkeepers and threatened with eviction if our family did not leave immediately. We take responsibility for not taking the time to read all rules and stay requirements but the approach towards rectifying the situation by the innkeepers was extremely inappropriate. When booking this location ensure your group meets the requirements. Upon arrival sit down with the innkeeper, fill out all forms and clearly go through all rules and restrictions. The location is clean and comfortable. Has an awesome beachfront spot with a beautiful dock and open air outdoor kitchen with everything you need.

Family Weekend in Wasa

We had a wonderful time in Wasa! We had a few surprises about our stay, however, and so it’s important to consider that while we had an amazing trip, it could have been very, very different if it had been a full house that weekend. We didn’t realize that shared kitchen meant that potentially we would could have been sharing the kitchen with two or three other groups. And had that been the case, there would have been very little in terms of social space. We also didn’t realize there was no eating permitted in rooms, which would have forced us to share space with anyone else that would have been there. All of that aside, we didn’t have that problem, as we serendipitously didn’t have any other guests to consider for the duration of our stay. Mary and James are lovely people, and gave great recommendations about other places in the area to visit. Lazy Lake was an absolute must-visit; as was Lussier Hotsprings in Whiteswan Provinical Park. Their extensive lawn at the property is beautifully maintained, but is a mositquito haven, and they are not keen on insect repellent, as it impacts the grass. I can say that the mosquito presence was…oppressive. And my poor children’s legs were in terrible shape at the end of the stay. The lake itself is incredibly beautiful, James and Mary maintain a beautiful floating dock, and it’s a kayak/ SUP dream. We are told the water is very high this year, so while there wasn’t much of a beach, we didn’t mind. We will definitely visit Wasa again. It’s a hidden gem!

Gorgeous beach getaway

I met up here with a friend and all our kids (4 of them). It was a lovely place! The outdoor kitchen, beach and dock are shared with other guests, which worked out well for us since they weren't around too much and when they were they were pleasant and friendly! Mary and James were always around if you needed them, out and about in the yard or accessible by phone. The accommodations are older, but well maintained and clean. I had assumed there was also a private indoor kitchen as well as the outdoor (there is not) but turned out I actually quite liked it. The only issue was that all guests are responsible for cleaning after themselves which i take pretty serisouly, and sometimes there were dishes left behind. There was enough space for all of our food. Even though the weather was a bit hit or miss it was nice to cook and eat outside all while the kids could let loose on the beach. We loved that there were kayaks and a trampoline to keep us busy, and then fishing was so much fun for my oldest. Wasa lake is definitely a hidden gem and this is a great place to stay to enjoy it!
