Had a great week at the cabin! Perfect size for 4 adults & 2 11-year-olds. Kids slept in the loft and couples in bedrooms. Adult beds were passable, but not great. Potential for improvement there.
Wasn't great seating for six in the living room, but we rotated between the 2 cushy loveseat spots, the 2 comfy wicker rockers, and 2 kitchen chairs.
We rented the four kayaks, and enjoyed using those to explore the lake. We caught some small but edible size perch right in front of the cabin, in the 18" of water that extends way out past the reeds. The kids had a blast wallowing around and playing on the big float-mat that was provided.
Each bedroom and the loft has a small fan, and the living room & kitchen each have smooth running ceiling fans. All were used extensively, as it got a little warm some of the days and nights. I personally did not miss having A/C, but a couple of people in my party did. Not a "complaint," as it is exactly as advertised. The fans were enough for me.
No wi-fi and poor cell signal was a negative for us all, but might not be for some. (We found our Verizon phones could get two bars - which was enough - by standing in certain, specific areas of the cabin or driveway.) Similarly, there's no TV signal, antenna or otherwise. Improving both of these areas by adding wi-fi is something we all agreed would be appreciated. And while we did enjoy a few of the DVD's, expanding that selection would also be worthwhile.
The cabin has a bit of a lean in the kitchen/dining area. To the point that some of the cabinets do not close properly. Not drastic by any means, and more of a curiosity to us. But for those who lack good balance, some elderly folks, etc, it should be a concern.
Bring bottled water if you aren't used to the taste of iron. But for showering, brushing teeth, etc., it's wasn't noticeable.
Sunsets were amazing, but having a western facing lake-view is a net negative for us. Too much sun in the hours before the sunset! Had this at a previous VRBO, but forgot to check for it this time. A deal-breaker for us, really. Just much prefer a lake-view going any other direction.
Anne was a great host and communicator! The cabin, linens, kitchen, bath - everything was spotless, nicely decorated, and well stocked! Exactly as advertised on every count. Kudos for that, which is the most important stuff to me. This is probably a "one-and-done" for us, but only because of our specific personal preferences. On the whole, I recommend it!
