It doesn’t get any better than this if you want to truly enjoy nature and the sweet town of Chester. The location, the accommodations, the thoughtfulness, and the ease of this home area unmatched. We cannot WAIT to return!
This house is great - very quaint and cozy and perfect for a relaxing stay in a beautiful setting. Sitting on the deck listening to the waterfall was a great way to begin and end our days. There are restaurants, shops, and a brewery all within walking distance. We'll definitely return!!
Loved this little place. GREAT location! Responsive, personable and helpful owners. A few "kinks", but they were on it! May just have to go back next year!!
This place is amazing! Decor is fantastic and perfectly arranged for the home and neighborhood. 3 min walk to incredible restaurants and shops is a bonus. Can not recommend this home enough! Stay here, you will be thrilled!!!
We were lucky enough to stay at this property and get ready for our small wedding. We took photos in the beautiful outdoor space and inside the perfectly unique house. It's a space that has to be experienced for yourself. So very grateful to have made our memories here. Can't recommend anywhere more romantic.
Very unique house and a little quirky. My husband and I rented this house along with my daughter and son-in-law as it was very close to a wedding we were to attend. The location is walking distance to the small cute downtown area that has a number of very good places to eat. When I rented the house I did not understand that the lower level is only connected to the upper level by stairs outside the house, but the weather was nice so it wasn’t an issue for us. The upper level was small but clean, however, the lower level did have a lot of spiderwebs. We really enjoyed sitting on the outside patio and listening to the small waterfall and soaking in the beautiful greenery.
The house is so unique and wondeful. We took alot of pictures of the house, property and town you walk to. We loved this stop on our trip and stayed 3 days which was a little short for the area. The owner was responsive and had great communication. I would only change one thing, the couch is not comfortable. Everything else, way above average.
Property was perfect for our needs.. part of our family stayed upstairs while we stayed downstairs. Completely separate units, but we could meet for breakfast at the Villager every morning. The downstairs could use a dehumidifier as it tended to smell a little mildewed
Cute house meant for short stay. Cooking very limited. Setting is really special as is Chester. Found locking up difficult. And unlocking door to deck very difficult but had the feeling in Chester locked doors are basically not needed.
Beautiful and relaxing place to stay! Great farmers' market on Sundays just down the hill. And we coincidentally stayed here while the nearby brewery held their 5th anniversary so there was a downtown block party! Super fun! Great little shops and restaurants within walking distance. Loved checking out all of the recycled materials used to create this home. Elderly parents stayed in the lower apartment since the stairs to the bedroom upstairs are steep (stone steps to the lower apartment were a little tricky for them to navigate but they did great!). My sister & I stayed in the upstairs apartment where the deck was great for us to all hang out and relax. We'll definitely be back! Host was very responsive and helpful! The Chester Historical Museum was a great find (just across the river; you can see it from the back yard) and we drove up to the Essex steam train & boat. The boat had a great narration. Also stopped at Gillette Castle!

A different kind of getaway
Let me start with the creative minds that went into this place. Knowing how it was built and designed made us feel like we were a part of someone’s dream. The entire home was built by a man named Kim. Every piece of flooring, walls, windows, brick, slate and furniture was recycled all the way down to the hardware on the barn doors! Supplied from old churches, barns, schools and homes! The backyard was really beautiful with a waterfall that was so relaxing and serene. The town was not even 400 feet away and very quaint and quiet. We ate in a few restaurants and shopped in a few stores and they were all very nice. We also visited Gillette Castle which was very fascinating and beautiful.
The hosts were very welcoming and showed us the upstairs of the House which was amazing and almost ready to also be rented.
There were a few things that needed to be tweaked but nothing serious. The apartment was extremely clean and the bed sheets were so fresh smelling I actually commented on the scent! but....... the place had a musty smell to it. Perhaps because it is an old home and the lower level. Nothing some plug ins couldn’t fix. The bedroom was enclosed in windows and the ac was in the living room so the bedroom was in need of a fan to circulate the air. Although the backyard was beautiful there were a lot of bugs by the Adirondack chairs so bug spray and maybe a first aid kit would be a good thing to have on hand .( i tripped and scraped my toe and didn’t have a bandage) also we have stayed in a few apartments and although i did bring toiletries of my own it’s nice to have soap in the shower just in case. Also there was no iron or ironing board which would also be a nice thing to have on hand. Overall I would definitely recommend this home and one thing that was so nice was I went outside early in the morning and hearing the waterfalls, smelling the fresh morning air surrounded by all that green and seeing a beautiful rainbow 🌈 over the waterfall really had me appreciate the beauty of this home.
This was a great little town. Loved the unique home and that quaint town in walking distance to restaurants, brewery and shops. Would love to go back again.
My husband and I and our furry friends had a wonderful stay at “The Recycle House”. Perfectly located in the quaint and lovely town of Chester. Absolutely scrumptious restaurants and fun shopping experience. Will definitely make a return visit for it was so memorable and need to experience it again. Thank You 😊
The property was exactly as pictured and described. The location was perfect! Walking distance to the cute little town of Chester. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
This is a house with Character (yes, capital 'C') in a cool little town. Perfect if you are looking for change from a big city. It would work as romantic getaway, but is also great for families with kids. Mine 7 year old twins were constantly on lookout for lepercons, and scoutered the house for gold. To compliment the house there is the town with its tiny "downtown" literally one house away. Few quite good restaurants, tiny brewery, few shops, art gallery and even its own park, and you catch live music here and there. The town was actually mine favorite part of the trip.
On practical side, the house is quite clean and comfortable. Note, if you plan to cook, there is no barbeque, and you should bring your own knives. Also, something to be aware of (and we missed it) is that the house is actually two separate houses with its own entry, little kitchen and bathroom, one sleeps 4 and another sleeps two.
Unique home in a beautiful setting. Built with 80% recycled materials. Bottom level is completely separated from main and second level. Multiple decks to enjoy the waterfall and lush landscape.
The Recycle House was a perfect little get-away for our family (4 adults). The house is so unique! You can tell that the renovation was a labor of love by the owner! The view from the deck is exactly like the picture! We enjoyed sitting on the deck and listening to the waterfall for hours. The small town center is just a short walk away and had a couple of local eateries that were terrific - from a homey coffee/breakfast place to a gourmet restaurant.
