About this property

Rawthey Centre - Self-catering accommodation for 16 people

For the slightly more adventurous! Rawthey Centre is the perfect place ‘to get away from it all’. Rawthey has been purposely built to offer self catering group accommodation right in the heart of beautiful countryside. The former field barn has been recently converted to an exceptional standard offering a superb group venue set in an amazing rural location.
Vehicular access is limited, there is an allocated parking/turning area which is OK for 4 to 5 cars five minutes walk from the centre. This means that you will have to walk about 200 metres from the car parking area to the centre. There is a properly made footpath but not suitable for wheeled buggies/chairs/case). You should wear sensible footwear and ensure all belongings are properly packed (back packs obviously best); if arriving after dark you should bring a torch.
With stunning views of the Howgills and the sound of the river in the valley below it is an amazing place to relax and leave your cares behind.

It is great for a family holiday but please note it is an “outdoor centre” and not a “standard holiday home”. The sleeping accommodation is in bunk beds and there are no laundry facilities. It is superb if you are looking for something “different” and secluded/remote but please do not book if are looking for a town/city break!

Mobile phone coverage is limited.

Tough access
Although the property met the requirement, the walk or shall i say climb to and fro the car park is horrible. There is absolutely no way the elderly could do that and you have to be very fit to climb back up to the car park from the property. This isnt well documented in the description and it really should. I wouldnt have booked if i knew. Otherwise, good property but hot water is insufficient and we had cold showers when if you were late in the morning. Kitchen has all the amenities and cookware. Beds - not really comfortable but doable. I guess you get what you paid for.

Great for large groups
The house was great - warm, comfortable and with a well equipped kitchen - and the location beautiful. The only thing in the house that could have been better were the showers (hence the 4 stars instead of 5).
