Walking the property you will see historical remnants of stonewalls and deer grazing in the old apple orchard overlooking Creaser’s Cove. Whitecaps Retreat is located 350 ft from each of its sister cottages, Whitecaps Summit and Whitecaps Cabana - far enough to have privacy, but close enough for three groups wanting to rent 3 cottages. The home is custom built, designed specifically for vacation getaways (please see the floor plan for further details). The décor has a mix of modern and traditional rustic appeal. It is meant to be a vacation home you can share with family and friends or a retreat for renewing and restoring energy. Whitecaps Retreat is on the Kraut Point peninsula stretching from Creaser’s Cove on the east to the sandy beach at low tide on the west. From the crest in the middle of the property is Whitecaps Summit with panoramic views of the water on 3 sides. The east side (Creaser’s Cove side) of Whitecaps is the best location for launching kayaks, paddle boards, and other small water crafts while the west side is perfect for beachcombing, walks, and swimming. Whitecaps Cabana is located on the Creaser's Cove side. All 3 cottages share the shoreline on both sides of the peninsula and share the beach stairs . This region of Nova Scotia is known for its warm waters where the LaHave River meets the Atlantic Ocean. During low tide, explore the private beach surrounding Whitecaps. A warm beach with shallow sand bars is a rare experience on the East Coast (see photos and videos of our girls playing on the beach last summer). If it’s surf you are looking for, Hirtle's and Kingsburg beaches are mere minutes away. We are located 15 minutes from Lunenburg, a World Heritage UNESCO site and home of the Bluenose II sailing schooner. In the town you will find restaurants, galleries, a museum, quaint book stores and charming shops near the waterfront. The LaHave ferry is a 5 minute drive from Whitecaps. The cable ferry takes you to the well known LaHave Bakery. Park your car and take the ferry across or drive on board to explore the south side of the LaHave River.
