Stockbridge Gem

This property has everything you need for a short visit to Edinburgh. Really convenient to public transport but also within walking distance to many attractions.

Great location, limited amenities

This flat was in an amazing location in Stockbridge. It was quiet and private. The perfect amount of space for a couple. It's an older building with character, but noticeable wear and tear. It could use a deep clean. I wish there had been some sort of welcome packet from the host with instructions on how to access the wifi and control the thermostat. Also, had i known the host would not provide anything in the way of toiletries, i would have brought some. No tissues or hand towels, and only on towel per guest (these were stained/discolored).

Perfectly situated

A stones throw from central Edinburgh, this apartment is a cosy retreat after sightseeing and exploring. Stockbridge had a trendy vibe with a gorgeous Sunday market, eateries and bars.

Cozy Stay

This was such a a great experience. The owners went out of their way to accommodate us when our flight brought us in late and made sure the heat was turned on right before we got there. The flat was very comfy and cozy and we would love to come back!

Great Area Way overpriced for what the flat has to offer

We were very appreciative that the owners allowed our daughter to stay at the last minute without charging us, so we bought a blow-up bed. However, many things about this apartment need attention. The bed is hard, so be prepared if you are a side sleeper. There was a piece of broken glass in the bathroom that our daughter stepped on. The bathroom smells musty, as there are no windows, and after one (not messy) shower, the floor never dried the entire 3 days we were there. The kitchen table has been varnished I think and everything sticks to it. Be careful lifting a hot coffee. Generally I would just say that it seems a bit sad that for the price there could have been a bit more attention to things. If you are going to run a place like this (and we have for many years) go a little further...flowers on the table? A welcome card? Maybe some bottled water or something...We had 2 un-matched towels for 3 nights..no hand towel or wash cloth. Like another reviewer said: Communication was poor, messages went unanswered for days and I was unable to communicate with hosts by using the app. I believe that was a Vrbo issue, not the hosts' fault. A few things like " a better supply of towels (nicer towels) and a small jug of milk in the fridge would have been appreciated. The property needs some maintenance (toilet seat repaired, light bulbs replaced) and an instruction/guide book. We did not know how to operate heat & television but figured it out." I agree.

Cosy cocoon in stockbridge

Property is as described, I agree with other reviews that property is a bit dark but its also a basement flat so i was expecting this. We found it a cosy and comfortable stay. Very quiet at night, bedroom like a cocoon and bed comfortable. Property was also well heated as despite being July it was chilly! Water was also hot but the water pressure is not great, again probably because of being in the basement, but this did not effect our stay. Location is great, nice local area. Absolutely fantastic scotch pie shop on the main street in stockbridge and a lovely little speakeasy style bar. You can walk to old town in 30 mins but also I saw there is a bus and also ubers everywhere if you use it. Hosts were extremely lovely, responsive and easy to communicate with. We would definitely stay again!

Stockbridge

We love Stockbridge… a village atmosphere with plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops within a few minutes walk of this property. Also easy walk to the centre of Edinburgh with all the attractions there. The check in was very easy .. Emma was able to let us in earlier, the property very clean with everything we needed. Thoroughly recommend.

Nice Dublin Basement flat

Great location, an easy walk to many area restaurants, shopping, buses and trams. The neighborhood is beautiful and charming. We always felt safe walking around. The check in was easy and the unit was spacious. Communication was poor, messages went unanswered for days and I was unable to communicate with hosts by using the app. I believe that was a Vrbo issue, not the hosts' fault. A few things I would recommend are having laundry detergent for guests, a better supply of towels (nicer towels) and a small jug of milk in the fridge would have been appreciated. The property needs some maintenance (toilet seat repaired, light bulbs replaced) and an instruction/guide book. We did not know how to operate heat & television but figured it out.

The best way to experience Edinburgh!

We loved our stay! The location is perfect, in a quiet neighborhood with restaurants, cafes, and groceries within walking distance. It was easy to get around Edinburgh with a bus stop in front of the flat, and at least three others within walking distance. The property was clean and comfortable. There was great communication from the owners, including restaurant and cafe suggestions! We absolutely loved our stay!

Short break away

Excellent location for access to all city attractions. Good bars, restaurants and coffee shops within 5 minutes walk. Apartment was a bit dark and was showing signs of wear and tear. Outdoor area not very inviting to sit in. Bed very comfortable.

Wonderful Experience

The flat was just as advertised- great location, beautiful entrance, spacious, and comfortable. The fully appointed kitchen and living room was great for us - gave us some alone spaces to chill. Walking back from the city center was an experience with all the great landmarks along the way and then the neighborhood gardens and shops and food - so great. Could have stayed another 3 days! Helpful hosts as well.

Stockbridge is a great neighborhood and this location is in the thick of it. Very walakable to a bunch of stuff! Edinburgh also has robust public transport. The apartment itself was super cute and spacious. Really enjoyed it!

Problematic

This is a comfortable, tasteful apartment in a charming neighborhood. However, our stay was disappointing. There was little or no hot water. Worse, the listing for this property explicitly stated that it was equipped with a washing machine. The washing machine was in fact not operational and apparently had not been for quite some time. We relied on the inaccurate information in the listing to our detriment, expense and considerable inconveniece. The listing has since been corrected, which does not do us one bit of good. We cannot recommend this apartment.

Excellent Edinburgh experience

Location is 5 star!Property retains original charms while having high end appliances and fittings. Pet friendly with nearby walks. Look out for door handles...they are tricky!
