About this property

'The Cottage' at Further Harrop Farm

As soon as you arrive at Further Harrop Farm you start to relax and marvel at the breathtaking views.
Situated in the idyllic Harrop valley in the Peak district, walkers and cyclists will do well to find a better base. Completed to the highest of standards and set in 70 acres of rolling countryside yet only 20mins from Manchester airport and other great transport links.
Walks in every direction and the famous Brickstone Road, part of the Tour de Britain right on the doorstep for cyclists.

This beautiful property has been lovingly and thoughtfully converted from our once traditional stone barns into the luxury living space we have to offer today.
(We also have available our 1 bed property 'The Nook' which sleeps 2 adults for any larger parties wanting to book both.)

*I'm afraid we are unable to accommodate pets or children under the age of 12*

Immaculate, warm and very welcoming, 'The Cottage' is incredibly spacious and furnished to the highest standard all the while maintaining the overall look and feel of the original buildings.
Boasting an open plan downstairs with stunning farmhouse kitchen featuring an Everhot Range cooker. Fully equipped with new appliances, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, cutlery and crockery and large dining table in the centre.

Off the kitchen is a very cosy living room area, with log burner, L shaped sofa, arm chair and wall mounted television offering a variety of services.
For those who wish to be connected to the outside world you can do so with ease with the benefit of high speed internet.

Upstairs is an impressive master bedroom with super kingsize bed and its own en-suite.
Two further bedrooms, one with a double bed, fitted wardrobe and dressing table and the other with a single bed and wardrobe can be found across the way as well as a stunning family bathroom with a roll top Burlington bath and fitted shower head.

The Cottage has a back door with small terrace and black iron railings which leads to a beautiful yard with a most pleasing aspect, hanging baskets, horses looking through their windows, and views to die for, yet all very private. There is an outdoor table and chairs in this courtyard to the rear of the cottage for your own private use where you can sit of an evening after a long day exploring or working and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this spectacular location.

There is onsite off road parking and for those cyclists wishing to bring their own bikes we offer a secure lockup and wash off area.

Although the gardens are for private family use their views can be enjoyed from the Cottage and there are several other seating areas around the grounds for you to enjoy. Guests also have use of our newly planted orchard which has a picnic bench and fire pit area for you to sit out with a glass of wine or enjoy some alfresco dining or a quiet spot to read and reflect on your day.

With 70acres of farmland you certainly won't be short of outdoor space!

The area:
Situated in the Peak District National Park you would never think that you were only 20 minutes from Manchester Airport and 18 miles to Manchester City Centre with its thriving attractions of great restaurants, bars, museums, galleries, theatres, concert venues and shops,

Less than 5 miles away is the attractive village of Prestbury with its cobbled streets, assortment of timber framed Tudor buildings, acclaimed restaurants, wine bars, boutique shops and historic pubs all clustered around it’s sandstone church.

For those wanting the convenience of a larger choice of shops and supermarkets the town of Macclesfield is just a 10minute drive away.

On the doorstep the selection of restaurants is equally as good with The Swan that serves great food and beer situated in the picturesque village of Kettleshulme which is less than a mile away. The larger and very popular village of Bollington is 2 miles away which again has a choice of lovely restaurants and pubs including ‘The Lime Tree’ which serves all local produce and ‘The Vine’ that brews its own beer!
Bollington also boasts a fantastic selection of local Butchers, Bakeries, Coffee shops, Newsagents, Florists, Fish and chip shop, Post office, Pharmacy as well as a Co op supermarket.

Basically everything you could want all on your doorstep whilst feeling like you really have escaped to the peace and simplicity of the hills and countryside.

Places to visit:
Lyme Park is only 10 minutes away with Chatsworth House and Tatton Park just over 30 minutes away. The Spa town of Buxton is within 20 minutes and the City of Chester is less than an hour. To be honest the list is endless and you'll certainly never be short of beautiful days out.
A full brochure of local attractions, walks, cycle routes and amenities is provided within our cottages for your convenience and we’re always more than happy to give recommendations and guidance so please don’t hesitate to ask!

Fantastic cottage
Just returned from a short break at this very impressive property. The owners were warm and welcoming and have thought of everything that you might need, it appears that no expense has been spared. The location is perfect if you enjoy cycling or walking but be warned that it is almost half a mile from the cottage to the main road and its uphill, luckily it is laid with tarmac and provides a nice smooth ride! Also it means in a downhill finish after a hard ride in the peaks. If you want a nice peaceful retreat in a brilliant location then this is it.

A beautiful, luxury cottage perfect for walkers and cyclists
My partner and I stayed for 5 nights at the cottage. It is the most beautiful location perfect for anyone who loves walking or cycling. The cottage was immaculately presented with everything you need for your stay. The owners were very friendly and helpful with a great recommendation for Sunday lunch. We can’t wait to come back and stay again and we would highly recommend this place to others.
