Villa Olia is a beautiful property. Stella could not have been more helpful and friendly. Giannikos Taverna is a must. Giannis and George made us feel so welcome. Prines is a charming village and access to Rethymno was easy ( either driving or local buses) Sad to be leaving.
We have just stayed at Villa Olia for 10 wonderful days! The villa is stunning, with an exceptional pool area.
Communication with Stella was really good, she was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and car hire.
Would thoroughly recommend this villa!
I struggled to find an 8-adult villa that was walking distance of some tavernas (most are very isolated) and this is why we booked this one. Perfect for 4 couples: each couple had an ensuite room and nobody had to sleep in a bunkbed! Weather in May was great and we used the pool, bbq and outside areas a lot; plenty of shady and sunny areas. We had a problem with the washing machine, but it was quickly sorted out the next day. Secure parking for 3 cars and all the tavernas in the village were good.
Our only gripes are that the wheels on the dishwasher bottom drawer were broken so hard to pull in/out, and the fact that 3 couples had to keep going up/down stairs to use their toilets (an extra ground floor 'public' toilet would have made this villa absolutely perfect!).
We stayed at Villa Olia in September and loved the house. The Villa looks just like the pictures. Stella was always available and easy to communicate with. We were greeted with cake and wine- which was fabulous. The little town on Prines is within walking distance. The restaurants were great and it was nice to have that option. While is was no longer summer, we still enjoyed the pool and the outdoor patio. We would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful property walking distance to tavernas and grocery store
We had a great time at this property. Beautiful outside setup with patio and pool complementing the villa. Short walking distance to local tavernas serving great local food and short driving distance to beautiful beaches. Would definitely go back.
Dear Stella,
how we enjoyed your wonderful home! The photos on the site are really accurate! We arrived and there was a welcome basket with fruit and cold drinks in the fridge. Stella helped us quickly with questions.
The house was cleaned half way through the week! In addition to 2 towels per person inside, there are also bath towels for outside at the pool.
In Prines you can eat well and cheaply. With the 5 of us we were ready for 80 euros at 'veranta' and 'Giannikos'. We rented a car from Arkadi. (also via Stella) That is advisable if you want to do something. We can recommend the Imbros gorge (€5 pp back to Imbros) and the beautiful Prefelli beach. For snorkeling we went to Kalypso.
Thank you Stella for letting us enjoy Crete from your amazing villa!
The Villa was even better than described. It was very clean with plenty of towels and Stella was amazing. She gave us plenty of recommendations on where to go and booked numerous restaurants for us. Nothing was too much trouble for Her and she was very welcoming.Even Stella’s mum left us a homemade cake for us which was delicious . All this helped to make it a great holiday and the local tavernas within a short walk we’re superb. Thanks again Stella and hopefully see you again
We have just had a week at Villa Olia. The size of the villa is amazing and the pool area is surrounded by beautiful Cretan foliage and even some grazing sheep. There is a table tennis room and the swimming pool is a really good size. There is a balcony upstairs off the main bedroom where you can see the sea and watch the sun set. This was the first villa we'd stayed in in Greece where we didn't get set upon by insects as soon as we tried to eat outside. We had 2 barbecues and recommend the sausages and bifteki from the butcher up the main road above Prines. The villa was also in easy walk of 3 tavernas. We recommend Veranta- the best meal we had in Crete. 2 evenings we got a taxi into Rethymnon (15 euros each way). Rethymnon is a great place in the evening, full of busy tavernas, narrow streets in the old town and Venetian architecture. We recommend getting an ice cream from Meli. In terms of beaches we would recommend Damnoni beach in the south and any of the Northern beaches, as long as the wind isn't too strong. On the last day we hung out at Baja Beach club (15 euros for a set of sunloungers). This is fun if you like booming music all day and an Ibiza beach club vibe. We'd also recommend Lake Kournas, but hire a kayak rather than a pedalo or paddle board as you can get further across the lake and maximise your chances of seeing a turtle (we didn't see any unfortunately). Back to the villa, Stella was very responsive during our time in the villa and recommended some places for us to visit. The villa was cleaned half way through our week and we were left some Cretan delicacies on our arrival and mid-way through. A great place to stay!
We couldn't be more happy with our holidays. The villa is wonderful and is close to our favourite town on the island - Rethymno. The host, Stella, always does her best to assist her guests and answers all questions in a timely manner, even if there are lots of them :).
I truly recommend the villa to other visitors.

Fantastic villa, perfect location,
This was our 3rd holiday in Crete, but our 1st in Rethymno. The villa has everything you could wish for, stunning location, spacious, clean with the friendliest owner. Nothing was too much trouble for Stella and her family. We had some amazing meals out, most notably Veranta, which is a 2 minute walk from the villa. You do need a car if you want to explore. I couldn’t recommend this villa more. Thank you again Stella.

Very relaxing with beautiful views
The villa was very spacious and comfortable with a beautiful pool and BBQ area. The village of prines is very quiet but the main town is about 15 mins away in the car. The owner was very inviting and we received some homemade treats from them during our stay which was a lovely personal touch. I would highly recommend this villa to make a very lovely relaxing place to stay

Luxurious villa with lovely pool
We really loved this villa. The house itself is spacious, well equipped and stylish. The outside area is great, with a fantastic infinity pool and lovely places to sit. The air conditioning and sheltered outdoor space meant that we could cool off in the August heat.
The village of Prines is really peaceful and friendly with two good tavernas and mini markets. It is about a 15 minute drive to the busy town of Rethymnon which has lots of shops and restaurants.
The owners were fantastic, providing a welcome pack, home baked desserts and lots of help throughout our stay.
We would definitely love to return to Villa Olia - it is our favourite villa of the many villas that we have rented.
