About this property

Lake Roosevelt Custom-built, WATER-FRONT log home

Gorgeous log cabin on the shores of Lake Roosevelt. Imagine your celebrations on the 1200 sq. ft. deck with full lake views and no neighbors in sight. Walk down to secluded sandy beach to enjoy the water. Mountain biking, kayaking and hiking are all right there. Bring your toys and enjoy water sports of the finest.

Kitchen has a gas stove and two fridges and is the center of all activity. Nice wood stove heats the place beautifully, wood provided. Well appointed with Native American art, antiques and family heirlooms. You will feel like you're in another world!
This peaceful and remote property is off the grid (without city services), encouraging old time face- to-face-connections. Dominoes, bridge, backgammon, Sequence, Rummy and other games are available with a horse- shoe pit and bird-watching outside.
Master bedroom with bath downstairs and guest room with second bathroom is also on the main floor. Upstairs in the loft is a second living room that includes a queen bed and sofa bed and a separate room with a queen bed and 3 murphy beds.

We are a SMOKE-FREE and PET-FREE property.
The nearby towns of Creston and Wilbur offer golf and
a museum, rural enjoyment, restaurants and some limited shopping.
Visiting the Grand Coulee Dam visitor center is an educational treat.
The favorite activity is sitting on the deck or the beach reading or staring at the view.

Wonderful cabin with amazing views
Cozy cabin with amazing views and great beach. Lots of room! We had a great time. No AC and it was hot because we were there in August but it did cool down at night.

Beautiful View!
Amazing location! This cabin would be paradise in the Spring/Fall seasons. The beds upstairs are hot at night in the summer where the temperatures reach high 90's so we set up air mattress on the deck. Wasps are a problem down on the beach and while eating outside on the deck. Fly swatters are provided so we made a game out of how many we could kill before eating. The walk down to the beach kept us in shape but opens up a a beautiful oasis where we had a blast fishing and floating. Thank you Ed & Marlene for the wonderful memories!!

Absolute Paradise on Lake Roosevelt!
Wow, I'm not sure where to start. This custom built log cabin was more incredible than I imagined. This is a Lincoln Log cabin hand built by the owners with their family. As soon as you walk in you can feel the families amazing memories with this place over the last 50 years. The highlight is the huge deck, which has an amazing view. We lived most of our time out there. Mornings with coffee, afternoons after being on the lake, watching the humming birds swarm the deck. Nights, viewing the milky way and the beautiful sky. For boaters, its perfect. There is a small cove with a pulley system so your boat is always safely moored in the water and simply retrievable from land by a pulley. For fisherman, we didn't even try hard and caught multiple bass in the area, even in the heat of the day. The lake in this area for water sports is amazing because its a bay that is protected from the wind so we had flat water where up lake there would be choppy water. The owners were wonderful with answering questions leading up to the trip. We would get responses within the hour and asked many! No cell unless you have ATT, no internet terrified my teenagers, but they ended up having a blast disconnecting. The house was fully stocked with all the kitchen anemeties we needed and more. They even offered up their spices and condiments. Its heaven here!

Can't beat the view!
We had a wonderful family birthday weekend at this log home. Very comfortable with space for all. Host has thought of many things to make your stay fun. Walk to water is a bit steep, and beware that the beach may disappear as the water level rises. Lots of birds to watch, but beware of yellow jackets. So fun!

Breathtaking Family Getaway!
This trip was a family "Christmas" gift and a most beautiful getaway during the COVID crisis! I cannot even begin to describe the breathtaking views and comfort we found in this cozy cabin in the woods or "Lake Place" as they call it. Its hard to believe that the Torrison Familly is so willing to share their bit of paradise. The cabin alone seems like a museum with the wondrous "woodsy" decor and various pictures of the amazing process that went into building this stunning home! Having the panoramic view of the lake and access to your own cove for water fun was another bonus! Photos alone will not do this place justice as the breathtaking views and the sounds of the outdoors will help you to escape from all the worries in every day life! The cabin is well stocked with utensils, games, and various items that is appreciated when you are away from your home. The memories and photos my family have taken from our trip to this gem will be forever in our hearts and minds! Thank you very much Torrison Family!

Paradise!
What a beautiful house and property! We had such an amazing time enjoying all the property had to offer. The sandy beach is perfect for swimming, fishing, sun bathing and everything else. The deck is perfect for and the view is breath taking. The house is so cool and the owners have thought of everything to make staying there easy. But honestly it’s hard to stay inside with all that the deck and beach have to offer. Can’t wait to make our way back up to visit again soon!

Getaway from the the hustle and bustle!
Amazingly beautiful cabin in an amazing setting! Marlene and Ed are the best hosts! Marlene promptly answered all of my many questions leading up to the week of arrival (re: phone reception, boat/ trailer launch/parking, amenities, weather, smoke/fire updates). Upon arrival Marlene showed the ladies around the cabin interiors, Ed showed the guys the shop/generator shed/deck/outhouse. Of especial use for us was the air compressor with which we were able to inflate our giant inflatables for the beach! Speaking of the beach, bring your fishing gear for a smallmouth bass party and all your beach toys for fun in the sun (well shaded or all day sun are both options). Super private beach (hardly any neighbors who have their own beach anyway) down a well maintained trial (could be challenging for older, less mobile folks). We greatly enjoyed watching the birds come and go to the feeders on the deck, not to mention of course the great view of Lake Roosevelt. BBQ and kitchen all worked great for cooking, bedrooms and living spaces are all very clean and comfortable. Plenty of games and reading materials provided (love the photo album documenting the cabin’s construction)! We also made good use of the stereo in the living room with the provided cds! Beware the fairly steep/gravelly drive down Jump Canyon Rd and the windy dirt road to the cabin- you won’t want to bring your new sedan (trucks/suvs super recommended). (Glad my inexperienced self didn’t bring my dad’s boat all the way down that hill! Better to launch at Lincoln Mill and not even bring the trailer over to Jump Canyon Rd) Cell phone service can intermittently be found down at the beach, or a short car trip/hike up the road. Come stay here. But be sure to leave before I come back ;-)

Absolutely Stunning!
Upon arriving at the cabin Marlene and Ed were there to greet us. They showed us around the cabin. The cabin itself was beautiful and warm but the views from the deck were absolutely stunning! It was very peaceful and relaxing sitting on the deck in the morning drinking coffee. Our 2 year old daughter loved the sandy beach at the bottom of the hill. It was also great to be able to tie our boat up to the pulley each night. We can't wait to come back next year!

Beautiful log cabin with a very cozy feel and stunning view
Ed and Marlene greeted us when we arrived and showed us their beautiful cabin. Really nice couple and made us feel very welcome to have their cabin for a week. There were six of us and our new little grand baby. We brought our boats and beached them there so we had a lot of time out on the water. Fun spending quality time with our family off the grid.....highly recommend!!!! Plenty of wildlife to watch!!! Enjoyed our evenings talking outside on the deck and just plain relaxing. Plenty of board games, books, music and the most fun for us out of the games were the mind teaser games/gadgets. We all look forward to spending time at this beautiful cabin again!! Lake Roosevelt is a favorite area of ours!! Thank you again Ed and Marlene!!! The Miller family

An amazing secluded getaway
This spectacular lakeside home is even better than advertised. The hospitable owners met us there to show us how everything worked given it is off the grid. Don't let that scare you; the home was user friendly and quite romantic. Although it is a four bedroom, my husband and I rented it for an anniversary getaway and brought our boat, which we were able to moor using their built in pulley system on the private beach. The house had all the amenities we needed. The highlight was the spacious deck on which we grilled dinner every night and enjoyed the view of the lake. Lake Roosevelt is truly amazing and this house provides the opportunity to enjoy it from the boat and from the views in the house and on the deck. We hope to return next year. #didn't want to leave

An idyllic spot for getting away!
Our family of 10 (ages 3 to 85), spent six days at this breathtaking spot on Lake Roosevelt. The house is gorgeous! It is in a secluded place and feels like a camping trip, but has all the comforts of home; washing machine, nice bathrooms, dish washer, coffee maker, dishes, pots, pans, etc. There are even games and puzzles for the quiet nights, binoculars for wild life watching, a grill, and a raft down by the water. Only the occupants of the house can get to the beach from the land side, so we had the beach to ourselves. There is no cell or internet service unless one has AT&T, but that was what we were looking for. (You can always drive 15 minutes back towards Creston or Wilbur to get service.) The only downside is that you have to walk down a pretty steep hill to get to the beach. It was not a problem for anyone except for the 85 year old, but she managed it one time. Over all it was a great experience and Marlene and Ed were thoughtful hosts! We will definitely be back!

About the host

Hosted by Christine Torrison Mackay

Host profile image
Ed and Marlene Torrison, with the help of family and friends, built this cabin by hand. It took 10 years to complete this labor of love. It started with love of the area, finding a "spot" and searching out it's owner to see if we could buy it. Ed is a retired dentist with a love of wildlife, fishing and hunting. Marlene helped run the family businesses and raised their 8 kids, and they now have 29 grands and greats. Both Ed and Marlene love international scuba diving and look forward to sharing their family cabin with you.

Why they chose this property

Looking for something remote? This is your place! There is not a a single cabin in site on either side or across the lake. The tranquility is transformative. Get away from the wifi of busy places and truly relax. Yes, it is "OFF THE GRID" You will remember what "quiet" sounds like. You won't want to leave!

What makes this property unique

Enormous deck for gatherings and BBQ, beach front, wood stove and the peace of nature.
