About this property

North shore beachfront villa - garden view home

Plumeria House is a recently renovated traditional Hawaiian style plantation home found in Tropical Waters, a vacation rental retreat featuring three homes in a gated community on Oahu's North Shore. This house has a beautiful garden view along with your own private beach access.

Tropical Waters is on Ke Iki Beach, which is between world famous Sunset Beach and Waimea Bay. Every evening, enjoy the most breathtaking and stunning sunsets. Have fun snorkeling, exploring tide pools at Shark’s Cove, surfing, windsurfing, sunbathing and whale watching right outside your door. Secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city, relax in a quiet setting where time slows down yet you’re only an hour away from the action in Waikiki and 45 minutes from the Honolulu International Airport.

Plumeria House offers a fully equipped kitchen, three bedrooms and two full baths. Interior decorated with the elegance of Hawaiiana, all homes have teak furnishings, banana leaf woven chairs and plantation style ceiling fans.

And when you need a break in the day, you’ll be pleased by how convenient our centralized location is. Only three minutes away, stop in at Foodland market for groceries and island delicacies such as sushi, mangoes and papayas. Foodland also has all beach essentials along with DVD rentals, daily local newspaper and snacks. Grab a steaming mocha or an icy cold latte from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf next door. If you’re looking to dine out or do some shopping, Haleiwa Town is just five miles away. Land lovers will enjoy the nearby bike path; be able to hike along breathtaking ridges; or take horseback riding tours. The Turtle Bay Resort is 15 minutes away offering two golf courses and fine dining. Further down in Laie is the Polynesian Cultural Center where you can experience an authentic Hawaiian luau (feast). Whatever your interests are, Tropical Waters offers fun for the whole family!

Best 30 days of my life
This was a great location on the North Shore. The house is well stocked and working with the host was good...we had a few small issues and they made it right after a few days! There are 3 houses on this property and I loved that our house neighbors were respectable and friendly...

Amazing North Shore Location & Host
Everything about this property and our stay here was exceptional. Walking distance to grocery, food, snorkeling, and beautiful beaches - what more could one ask for. Cindy was an exceptional host - she checked in on us several times just to see if we needed anything. Already looking forward to our next stay.

Needs some improving
Cindy was so kind first off, we stayed two months and she was very kind, but the place was a little dirty (base boards, kitchen, fridge) Also too there needs to be a lot of improvements with the property. The oven was out for a bit during the stay, fridge leaks water which constantly had to clean up, no bath plugs which we had to buy, about 10 hangers total and no where to put clothes for master so we needed to buy closet organizers, lounge chairs were ripping, bed is really old and awful, pillows are thin and had to buy new ones, chairs breaking, stand up paddle boards were broken and we couldn’t use it, bikes broke and never got fixed so we had to pay to fix them, we got yelled at neighbors for our children laughing to loud (Cindy was apologetic of this and was going to speak to them) but communicate was hard when texting i would tell them about it and wouldn’t receive response or days late. The property is beautiful and breathtaking outside and i think with these minor adjustments and making sure guest have cleaning supplies and toilet paper for their stay it can make the world of difference for your booking. Location is amazing.

Once again...
Once again our family had a fantastic vacation and priceless time together at this location! We love the walks to the beach to see the big waves and walks to the food trucks in the evening for some amazing meals. Thank you for everything!

Hard to see garden
The homes layout was fine and the furnishings adequate. the floors were clean but so much of the rest of the house was not. Windows and fans were filthy. I had to clean the tub before I could take a shower. Hair and soap scum. :( Behind fridge and it was terribly noisy. Window sills and lamps were so dusty and the lanai railing was filthy. Several light bulbs were burnt out and the batteries for the remote were dead so no air in the master. The laundry room was filthy. Other than all that it was fine.

Great rental
We stayed in Hibiscus house, on the beach. Great location, well equipped, lots of toys. Good wifi, great AC, quiet, well equipped kitchen except needs one good sharp cook's knife. After many Hawaii rentals this is the first time I have not seen one ant.

Great location for a North Shore vacation!
Our family made lifetime memories at this cottage just steps from the North Shore Ke Iki beach on Oahu. It's securely tucked behind two coded gates in a park-like setting shared by two other houses. Though not facing the beach, it takes literally seconds to walk down the steps and up the short walkway to the sand and ocean. The villa's three bedrooms and two baths gave our family of 6 plenty of space, and the house is equipped with all creature comforts for a wonderful stay. If you're looking for a great location, look no further. It's a two minute bike ride (bikes are provided!) to food trucks, a Foodland grocery store, and one of the island's best snorkeling spots (snorkeling equipment provided!), Shark's Cove. Depending on traffic, it's a 15 minute drive to Haleiwa or Turtle Bay and all the beaches including Sunset and Waimea Bay in between. Or if you just want to relax on the beach (beach chairs provided!), it's a one minute walk across the sand to the water's edge. Bottom line: It's not fancy, but it's clean, comfortable, well maintained, and in a dynamite location for your North Shore vacation's home base. Without reservation, we'd stay there again.

Great!
This is a wonderful place to stay. Mrs. Mackey sent all info ahead of our trip so we were prepared when we arrived. We had no problems with the house. The house was as described. Very clean. The only thing that I would like to have was an ice maker in the refrigerator. It is just a very short walk to the beach. I loved the location. Foodland and food trucks were within walking distance. Foodland even has a deli if you don't want the food truck food. I felt secure at house. We had a wonderful time in Hawaii. Must go trip!!!

Nice place, needs a little work
We stayed in this cute bungalow from April 26 through May 1. From the photos shown on VRBO I was assuming we would have had the house with the lawn in the back, but was relegated to the house just in front of it, (the "C" unit) Everything seemed nice and tidy until one of our group found flying termites in her bed. They had a huge storage of lumber under the house, because it was on stilts. I called the rental agency and told them. she laughed and acted like this was normal for this island and would notify the owner. I also told her why they had termites in the living part of the house. From the pictures, we did not realize the house was up on stilts which caused one of our party who uses a wheelchair part of the time to have to climb those stairs. We managed but were not please. The whole house looks to have been recently undated with new paint. The surface of the place looked great as we entered, but soon found things like the old Jenn-Air stove top was a mess with a non working half and when I check out why, the grease had not been cleaned out of the collector for God knows how long. Of the two place we rented on two different islands, this one was not our favorite.

Peaceful and well appointed
Plumeria House on Tropical Waters was a great house and we had a wonderful time. It was well-appointed, with a luxurious master bedroom and a super-comfy king size bed. Love the open layout of the kitchen/dining/living-room area, as cooking and conversation complimented our Christmas so well. Cindy and Paul were gracious hosts, and I appreciate their every effort for making us feel that we were well taken care of. The location is perfectly situated between Sunset Beach and Haleiwa —— and a stone's throw from Foodland and awesome food trucks. Beach access was very easy, and we took full advantage of it! Note for those interested in booking: At the time I booked, I was confused by the pictures on HomeAway and thought that I was booking a house with a direct ocean view. Plumeria house is one of 3 houses on the Tropical Waters property but isn't directly on the shore as with the other 2 houses -- nonetheless we had a great Christmas stay in Pupukea at the private and peaceful Plumeria house!

Great place for our family vacation
We visited the North Shore for 4 days and staying here was wonderful. We had plenty of space for 4 adults and a 2 year old. It was so great to be within walking distance of Sharks Cove, the food trucks, and Foodland (grocery store). We got great use out of the bikes, beach chairs, sand toys, umbrellas etc. They had everything we needed! Thanks for the great accomidations!

Wonderful and relaxing location
As a group of six, this was the perfect size property and location to the beach. The property was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed for our stay. It was great to have the barbecue so we could could cook at home or venture out to the many food trucks or into Haleiwa township for dinner. Great beach access, crystal clear water and safe to swim during the August months. A great time for all.

Great location!
Thanks so much for a great stay. This is a clean and tidy house a stone's throw from an amazing beach and 5 mins walk to the food trucks and supermarket. We have two young kids who loved it. Making bikes and water accessories available to people is great. The only downside was the lack of places to dry things but that's a really small issue! I'd definitely recommend Plumeria Cottage to those looking for a comfortable house in a fab spot.

A good time
The house was everything as advertised. It was clean and everything worked. The AC units were great to have. The location is great with the property being on a secluded beach on the other side of shark's cove. The house is directly behind the beach front view houses, but the path is very short and private. Really appreciate having plenty of beach chairs and equipment to use that was included.

Nice, Quiet House
The house was great for 3 adult couples. Cindy was great and easy to communicate with. During our stay, air conditioning units were installed in the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms which was amazing! The kitchen was well stocked with the exception of more hand towels and we could have benefited from some type of griddle pan. The bikes, snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, and boggy boards were put to great use and we were thankful they were available for us to use. The house isn't directly beach front but the patio was a nice place to enjoy dinner and being able to go out to the grassy area to watch the sunset was really nice. There were water shoes available for use but I would bring mine if we stay here again so they are in my size. The walk down to the beach isn't the easiest in flip flops since it is very rocky. The waves by the house are huge which made it pretty hard to swim in the ocean but Sharks Cove and Sunset Beach are very close. We loved being walking distance from the food trucks and the grocery store as well. All in all, we enjoyed staying here and loved how secure we felt with the double gated entrance.

Great!
Responsive owner, neat location, water toys and bikes, safe. Two families with 7 people shared the place for a week and never got in each other's way. Prepared all meals together, store practically across the street, and for sure North Shore is way less hectic than Waikiki but you have to drive everywhere and traffic backs up. Loved it.

Quiet, Beautiful and Relaxing
This was one of the best set up homes we have visited. The kitchen was well stocked (with the exception of dish towels) and we had no problems cooking, using the grill and enjoying family dinners out on the deck. This house was not on the beach but the advantage to that was that we had shade on the deck during dinner hours which made it nice to be able to get out of the sun. The beach is perfect for those that love waves and one spot has rocks you can sit on with minimal wave action. We arrived a few after a hurricane missed the island so the water was rough. I ended up very sick the week we were there so I spent most of my time sleeping in the AC'd bedroom but when on the beach I appreciated the tidal pool and rocks in the water. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do and it was fun trying the local restaurants. It would have been nice to be able to invite friends from Honolulu up for dinner but having outside guests is not allowed - this was our only negative for this rental. We would love to revisit the North Shore and this is the perfect house to stay in when doing so.
