Family gathering

We loved our stay. The views were amazing. Sitting on the deck having a morning cup of coffee was a wonderful way to start the day. All the kids, from the littles to the bigs, loved their stay at the "big house".

Family Gift of Time

The cabin was perfect for our family trip with kids and grandkids. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space for our group of 14. The kitchen area was great for cooking and eating meals together and was well stocked with all the necessities. We will definitely book again and would recommend to our friends.

Great Ski Stay

It was a bit of a trek up in the snow storm, but the view and privacy were totally worth it. The fireplace and hot tub made the stay very cozy. And the short drive to Terry Peak is the cherry on top!

Perfect for our family!

The main reason we chose this property was because of the bedroom/sleeping arrangements. When we arrived, we realized it fit us in many more ways. Such as, dining area, theater/movie area, hot tub, number of bathrooms, and overall room in us. The location was private, the scenery, breathtaking and the rustic/industrial architecture of the home was unique and beautiful.

Beautiful location for our intimate wedding

The house is absolutely STUNNING! Better than the pictures! It was the perfect house and location for our intimate wedding celebration! Our friends and family had ample space to sleep and mingle. The house was clean and tidy, it was close to town if we need to run to the grocery store or head downtown deadwood for a night out. Very please and would definitely recommend this place to anyone! We will be coming back for our anniversary one day!

6 Families

There were 6 families that stayed for 4 nights! The Greystone was the perfect place to hold all of us! There was plenty of space and room for the kids to run! Our all time favorite was the bunk room! The kids loved having their own space and have a constant slumber party! The hideout is soo cool with the tunnel that leads to it! The greystone was perfect for us and not too far from the ski slopes! The host was great with easy to reach by text messages! We would highly recommend you to book your next stay at the Greystone! Beautiful house and view you won’t regret it!

Great getaway for a large group!

You won’t regret renting this property!! It has a very homey feel especially fur the size. There is plenty of sleeping options and enough separation if you have a large group with loud kids! It’s just minutes from Terry Peak so we took advantage of that! It has a great kitchen to accommodate our group and it is not lacking any kitchen equipment. We would definitely rent this property again!

Family Ski Trip

Beautiful house with lots of room and great proximity to Terry Peak! We had a large group and there was plenty of room for everyone! Kitchen was fully stocked with lots of pots & pans. House was clean overall but it seemed it may have been empty for awhile so touch up cleaning may be needed for future rentals. The private hot tub was great to have! We utilized the hot tub A LOT! Due to using it frequently, the water level dropped and the property manager promptly had someone come out to service the hot tub. Great customer service! I would definitely recommend this property to others! Especially if you are going skiing and have a large group!

Family getaway

This property was wonderful! The pictures don’t do it justice. We had all ages 4 months - 75 and it was easy for everyone to be there. There was more than enough space for all of us to be alone if we wanted or be together inside/outside. Most of us enjoyed the location but some thought it was just a little too far out of town. We are already thinking of booking again next year.

The property is amazing. It has a chic industrial style. Very roomy with massive windows.

It was a unique place—you actually drive into through an active gold mining operation which tends to keep the weekend explorers out and limit the traffic going by. The kitchen was an amazing gathering place for our extended family and the evening thunder and lightening storms provided the entertainment. Plenty of room for our extended family to engage and also have private space when desired. I loved the style of the place and marveled st the architectural features—the stairs are a work of art. I would have moved in if I could have😍

Remote Black Hills

Loved this place. The house itself is beautiful. With plenty of space and nice ammenities. We had enough people we rented the extra "hideaway" space which connects the main house with a space underneath of the garage. This was a nice space and was a cool feature that everyone found unique. Please be warned that the location is pretty remote. Distance wise it is only 10ish miles to Lead, SD, but the last 3 miles are all gravel and through an active mine site. I grew up driving those types of roads, but some of my guests were surprised by them and wondered if they were in the correct location. This is plus and a minus. This also means you are very remote. No signs of neighbors and lots of privacy. All in all really enjoyed the stay!

Beautiful Home but not for Rally Riders

The home is truly amazing. The kitchen is to die for any one that loves to cook. The road is a different issue if you are planning for coming for the Rally DO NOT book this house. The road is horrible, several of the bikes had flats, fenders ruined and scratches. I did reach out to the property manager and asked if he had driven on the road he stated no. I booked this home a year ago and asked if the road would be suitable for bikes and was assured it was. It was so bad I sent several videos and pictures of the road. We ended up checking out two days early due to the damage on the bikes.

Gold Mine

The photos don't lie! This property was more than I expected. There were three couples and we had more room than we knew what to do with! Each couple had an en suite bathroom plus extra beds if we wanted to space out. Sheets and towels were very high quality. The televisions in every room made it nice to watch the different sports we were interested in and also could escape to another part of the house if you wanted peace and quiet. The downstairs bunk room doubled as a place to do Pilates for the ladies. Kitchen was very well stocked, great glassware, dishes, pots and pans, coffee maker, etc. But the best place to be for our party was on the deck! A most beautiful view - great for just hanging out with a book or a glass of wine or both. We didn't use the hot tub or fire pit but it was available. Enjoyed seeing wild turkeys, deer and a very friendly chipmunk ;). If we were ever to return to that neck of the woods we would stay there again without doubt! Great Host - very attentive!

Awesome family reunion spot

The Greystone house and property were fantastic for a mid-size family reunion we held in July! There was plenty of room for 10 adults and 15 kids - we rented the additional hideout section under the garage too. The kitchen worked well for preparing large meals and there were plenty of places to sit and eat. The house was clean and well appointed. Every bit as nice as advertised. The younger kids loved the bunkroom, while the adults genuinely appreciated the large spacious bedrooms and nice bathrooms. All of us enjoyed the home and the beautiful property. Good hiking and biking is available without driving elsewhere, and we had plenty of space for kids exploring, building forts, shooting BB guns, etc. Other reviews have commented about the rough road to access this house. That is accurate, and we saw the good and the bad of that. The kids (and some of us adults) found it really interesting to drive through a working gold mine and watch the heavy equipment operating there. Once you got a couple hundred yards past the mine, the view and surroundings made it easy to forget it was there. However, the road past the mine was extremely rough. We suffered one flat tire during our 5-day stay. I would ABSOLUTLEY stay here again, and would not be deterred by the road access. However, I would think carefully about what kind of vehicle I was traveling in.

Biker's trip 2019

The home was spacious with plenty of room for 14 bikers. It was clean and the kitchen had plenty of room for all the attendees to eat together. The kitchen should have had some larger pots to accommodate a large group, and should have had the right equipment. The network is terrible and the only way to make a cell phone call is to go outside in the driveway. To get to the house you have to travel 1.7 miles on a dirt and rocky road which made the trucks, trailers and motorcycles FILTHY. It made no sense to clean them at the house because they would get dirty as soon as you went down the driveway and on the dirt road. The road is very bumpy and one of the bikers had severe damage to his bike and could not ride the last 2 days. YOU MAY WANT TO THINK TWICE ABOUT RENTING THIS HOME IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING THE STURGIS RALLYS. Your bike will be dirty and you could have problems.

A uniquely designed, secluded retreat with stunning surroundings accommodating all!

The remote location and stunning scenery surrounding this property is just the beginning. Inside you will find one of a kind spaces that foster a welcoming feeling of warmth, perfectly designed to enjoy a getaway from home taking in all that the area has to offer. The aesthetics of this home bring the beauty of the outdoors into the home with unique wall coverings throughout the entire home. We have stayed in several VRBOs and this has been one of our favorites through the years. Five couples plus children recently spent a week skiing. Just to touch on a few specific perks: a large mud room with a sink and washer/dryer right off the garage, lots of seating space within the kitchen area, large windows with amazing views, huge bunkroom perfect for a large group of children, and separate living spaces for adults and children to gather together over games, entertainment and memory making. The hosts were quite timely and attentive to any questions/needs we had. They were personable and intentional in their communications and we would DEFINITELY stay in their property again. Let’s talk about the Hideout now! The Hideout is the secret treasure of this property. It provides a completely separate living space that provides additional privacy, quiet and space for additional guests. It was definitely the kids’ favorite part of the house because of the tunnel attaching it to the main home. This home is truly a one of a kind place to gather with family and friends and make memories to last a lifetime.

Family reunion

The property was outstanding and worked so beautifully for our family reunion. We had 3 families stay here and we were easily able to dine together on the massive dining table hi h we were all able to fit comfortably. The kitchen was well stocked and lots of room for multiple cooks in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms were spacious. One of our favorite things were to watch the Sun set either in the living room, the raised balconies, or the outdoor deck off the side of the house. Outstanding private views that went for miles. The front parking area supports lots of vehicles and we had room to set up cornhole boards and family hang out at the front table to join in the fun. The hot water heater is not on demand so plan accordingly (if everyone wants to shower at the same time and clean kitchen from breakfast) The property manager was incredibly responsive and got back to me within 5 minutes of a text which was very nice. Be sure to text the code to yourself as the service up at the house is very sparse. The Wi-Fi is adequate but is not strong enough for many people to stream. T-Mobile is not a very strong providor but Verizon did well to make and receive calls. We also loved the theme of the home to have the ‘mine-shaft’ vibe. It was a frequent center of conversation. Even though it was built with an industrial feel it still felt very cozy, warm, inviting, elegant, and home-y.

Beautiful Cabin- with a few small tweaks it could be even better!

This cabin is beautiful! The design and furnishings are top notch. There is room to be together or spread out for some privacy. The windows and views are amazing. I agree with other reviewers that the window shades are a must if you want to sleep in. The large kitchen window is an issue with the sunset for about 30 to 45 minutes but I'm not sure you would want to give up the view- and I can't imagine finding a large shade to fit it. You do drive through a working quarry/not a gold mine as stated somewhere else and the road is quite rough so bikers and small cars beware. This cabin is on the pricey side so with that in mind our expectations are high. There are a few things to take note that could make this stay even better. First, on the way to the cabin I receive a text that the owner's daughter and friends would be staying in the garage apartment. I would make sure that if you are wanting the place all to yourself that the apartment isn't being utilized or rented out. There is no space between the buildings- you would be on top of each other and lose your privacy. There is a tunnel that connects the two- and while you can lock it- I still wouldn't appreciate it. When I expressed my concern about sharing space after paying for a private cabin the owner made different accommodations and we had the place to ourselves. Be aware this could happen so ask in advance. When we arrived the air conditioner was not working- it was actually blowing hot air- the owner was very responsive and had someone come out right away the next morning- there was a technician out for about an hour or more to fix it- not a huge deal but an inconvenience. When I told the owner it was 86 degrees in the house she suggested opening the windows :( which he had already done, but not the customer service I was looking for. In the end it was repaired in a timely manner. We found all the utensils, dishes and cooking tools we needed. Little things that could make this property exceptional: We could not find any extra toilet paper! Paper towels would be nice. There was no laundry detergent to be found- we were hoping to do a couple loads of towels and swimsuits. Ran out of chemical for the hot tub. (the water is brown but was explained in the notes it's from the water in the hills) The fireplace does need a fix on the main floor for privacy!! This was mentioned two years ago in a review and is still not addressed. Overall we recommend this property!

Why they chose this property

In this cabin, the owner put thought and love into every decision that was made during the build. With too many custom touches to count this cabin will leave you in awe while feeling a calmness that doesn't let a smile leave your face. Greystone is the perfect place for a stay of any kind. The location allows it to be close enough to Deadwood and Terry Peak for some fun and the seclusion and views of a true Black Hills cabin.

What makes this property unique

Greystone has a mining-inspired tunnel that leads to the guesthouse, the Hideout, which may be rented with the lodge at the guest's request. There are 2 fireplaces in greystone that are both wood-burning which gives the home such a natural, homey feel. Situated at the top of the ridge, greystone overlooks miles and miles of the Black Hills and the valley that leads to Bridal Veil Falls. Enjoy that view from the hot tub on the lower level. Every inch of this property was meticulously thought out and designed. There isn't one inch of regular sheetrock on any wall or ceiling in the house.
