About this property

NEW - River Barn - 5 Star - Luxury Riverside Retreat

If there was a house that could guarantee to bring you the sort of happiness & balance people could only dream of... This is it!

Situated in the beautiful surroundings of the Lake District National Park, River Barn is one of the most iconic properties in the Winster Valley.

Enjoying a unique & charming position nestled on the River Winster, with spectacular far-reaching views of the countryside, there are an abundance of The Lake District's finest walks & pubs right on your doorstep.

From your morning cup of tea on the river to the moment you slip between the luxury sheets, every aspect of River Barn has been carefully and lovingly considered so your whole experience is truly memorable.

Look forward to cooking in the stylish kitchen before taking a seat by the riverside window to dine. In winter the built in log burner merrily crackles away to create a warm, romantic ambience where you can sink into the sofa and unwind.

The cool, contemporary kitchen sits right at the heart of the home, with its high quality units, granite tops, integrated appliances and breakfast bar, with a stable door leading straight out onto the alfresco dining patio. The first class inventory is complemented by a Neff appliances including oven, induction hob, dishwasher, wine cooler, fridge, freezer and washer/dryer.

The Scandinavian style open plan living area offers a superb light and airy open plan feel. The sitting and dining area are assisted by ceiling to floor windows to the gable end & Bi-Fold doors drawing in the sunshine and overlooking the stunning gardens and river views. Complimenting your experience, River Barn comes complete with built in Sonos sound system, Sky TV including Sky Movies and Sky Sports package & High Speed Fibre broadband internet.

Finishing off, this unique retreat is a well designed luxury master bedroom suite again with built in Sonos & Sky TV. The luxurious bed, high quality Egyptian cotton linen, fluffy towels and bath robes are the most welcoming retreat at the end of the day. The contemporary concrete style en-suite bathroom, comes complete with relaxing tub, rainfall shower and underfloor heating.

Outside, there are electric gates leading to private parking, a lovely garden with alfresco patio area complete with outdoor log burner and delightful stone steps leading down to the soothing riverside patio.

About The Area:

There are an abundance of pubs and walks in the immediate area including the award winning, Masons Arms at Strawberry Bank which is less than 400m away & The Hare & Hounds is less than 150m away. This really is a dream for couples looking for a unforgettable holiday.

For those who like to eat out there are many first-class pub/restaurant's within easy access including the Gilpin Spice which featured on the "Great British Menu" TV programme, Simon Rogan's Iconic restaurant L'Enclume. The Award Winning, Punch Bowl at Crosswaite & the traditional Black Labrador at Underbarrow.

Nearby Bowness on Windermere is convenient for local amenities and access to the fantastic cruising grounds of Lake Windermere as well as the surrounding National Park by foot or car. Situated on the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, Bowness is a sophisticated Lakeland village with a wealth to explore and enjoy.

From the lake shore in Bowness you can hire a rowing boat or power boat, or take an elegant cruise on one of the Lake Windermere steamers. Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside; a wonderful way to explore without even using your car.

Another great idea is to take the car-ferry crossing (or pedestrian crossing) over Lake Windermere from Bowness, to visit the former home of Beatrix Potter in Near Sawrey, and the picturesque village of Hawkshead.

In addition, just a short distance away are both Ambleside and Grasmere, where you can explore the homes of famous Lake District poet, William Wordsworth.

There really is so much to do and see right from the doorstep complimenting your stay at River Barn. This is a place where memories are made.

The perfect place to stay!
This is a very special place to stay. The house is beautiful, tastefully styled with a gorgeous outlook. It has everything that you need including a great outdoor area. It is a close walk to dinner at Boland Bridge and the walks that Rebecca and Phil recommend are fantastic. I highly recommend this property and Rebecca and Phil were terrific hosts. Thank you!

A Stunning Property
We traveled from California to explore the Lake District but when we entered the house which looked out over the property and a lovely creek we did not want to go anywhere. It was peaceful, quiet and serene. The house has everything you would want and is tastefully and beautifully decorated. Rebecca and Phil were wonderful, and communication was great, even with an 8-hour time difference. If we lived in the UK this would definitely be a property I would go to often! Thank you for sharing this beautiful home. It is a little piece of heaven.

A 5star bolt hole
The property is exactly as expected, the views are beautiful and the peace and quiet is second to none. All that and less than a five minute walk to a pub, what more could you want. It was perfect.

Wonderful in every respect
This is just the most wonderful place. Fantastic property. Perfect location. The pictures make the property and its location look incredible. In reality both the property and its location are even better. The pre-arrival communications from Rebecca & Phil were first rate. We knew how to get there, how to get access and they also included many great suggestions of places to visit. The property is of the highest quality, beautifully decorated, wonderfully furnished and with every bit of equipment you could need in the kitchen, a great 5* hotel-like bathroom and Sky TV in the lounge. The location is very special. It’s in the middle of a small village and adjacent to a small stream with a lovely private garden. Less than 2 minutes walk is one wonderful pub (The Hare and Hounds) serving great food. No more than 10 minutes walk is a second (Masons Arms) that is just as good. We would also recommend the food at The Punch Bowl which is just short drive away. This is a great place which we highly recommend.

Dream house
Perfect house for perfect and quiet holiday. Beautiful river and view gives you feel of tranquility. High standard and quality finish throughout. All inside and out seems perfectly thought through and arranged for maximum comfort and relaxation. Nearby pub for eating out option or you could stay in and cook in the excellent kitchen. All information and advice given by Rebecca and Phil were very helpful and well organised, leaving you feeling like you were at home away from home. Thank you very much both of you for great opportunity you gave us to rest in tranquility. Highly recommended and for sure we will be back. 5 stars!

Amazing!!
Simply can’t fault this fabulous holiday home. It just has everything. Communication with Rebecca and Phil has been outstanding. The house is spacious, has all the mod cons you’ll ever need, and the log fire just finishes off the amazing living area. Shame about the weather (Nov.) so couldn’t enjoy the outdoor areas and features. Good reason to return :).Everything is so well thought out and organised right down to best way to park. If you don’t want to use the fab kitchen can recommend The Hare and Hounds very very short walk. So welcoming we went back a second night. Thanks also for the welcome goodies-another nice touch. Big thanks to our hosts Rebecca and Phil.

A fantastic stay at a fantastic cottage.
We had an amazing, if too short, stay at Rebecca and Phil’s place. The cottage is immaculate, quiet, cozy, and the view from the picture windows is breathtaking. We took to calling it the Posh Bothy. Our visit was during a hot spell, and the place got very warm during the day, despite lowering all the shades. At night, we opened all the windows and doors and it cooled right down. It would have been nice to leave everything open all night but we were concerned about bugs and critters, and the neighborhood kitty, Smudge, finding their way in. Pro tip for cool sleeping; leave the bedroom windows open all day with the louvres closed and keep the bedroom door closed at all times. You’ll be rewarded with a bedroom 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the cottage come bedtime. Could the bed be a touch wider and firmer? Would window/door screens help with cooling and bug control? Would air con be nice? Yes to all of these, but these minor points are offset by the utterly charming and idyllic location, the many amenities and thoughtfulness of details, and the timely, attentive responses by the owners. If you’re looking to stay somewhere close to the lakes but out of the mayhem of throngs of holiday makers, Bowland Bridge is THE place, and the Posh Bothy on Smithy Lane can NOT be topped for location, charm, convenience, and location. Many thanks to Rebecca and Phil for their hospitality and for having the vision to bring this former blacksmith’s shop into the 21st century.

Magnificent
"I probably do have an obsessive personality, but striving for perfection has served me well." Tom Ford There's a big Tom Ford book in the living room and his quote sums up our stay... as close to perfection as anyone would want. The setting is idyllic and the ambience sublime. Rebecca and Phil tell you everything you'd want to know when you need to know it, where to go and what to see. We ventured out to the Lakes, just a short drive away, but frankly we were very happy to get back to the house and sit by the stream, listening to the birds, watching the sheep and ducks, drinking G&T and breathing deep the fresh summer air. The riverside retreat is so tranquil, well appointed, and comfortable there is really no reason to leave, but if you must there are two fine restaurants a very short walk away and some of the best hiking in the whole of the Lake District to panoramic views of lake Windermere and beyond. We would come back and stay in a heartbeat as it's a place that served us well, calmed the minds and filled our hearts. Thank you Rebecca and Phil.
