Unit 512 - West Sunset View Gold Unit

Come relax and enjoy crystal-clear waters, sugar-sand beaches and spectacular sunset views that will take your breath away right from our balcony!
Unit 512 has been professionally updated (May 2024) with fresh paint, vinyl plank flooring, king mattress in the master and queen mattress in the 2nd bedroom. Each bedroom has new bedding along with a 43” smart TV in master and 32” smart TV in the second bedroom. The living area has a sleeper sofa and a 55” smart TV. This unit is equipped with wireless internet access, ceiling fans in both bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, disposal, Keurig coffee maker and microwave.
This condo is located in the heart of Destin, Florida yet situated on Holiday Isle giving our guests a more private atmosphere. The Emerald Coast is consistently rated among the best in the U.S. and for good reason. Restaurants, golf and shopping among many other things are just minutes away. The outdoor sports facilities at the Islander include two swimming pools (one heated), 2 hot tubs, tennis courts, pickleball courts, shuffle board and a basketball half court. Equipment can be checked out from the on-site front desk. There is a pavilion for family grilling located conveniently by one of the pools for your enjoyment. During the summer months (May- 2nd week in August) enjoy family activities planned each day for children and adults. (Arts and crafts, sand castles and sculpture with sand effects on the beach, live music, painting on the east lawn and a dive in movie) Enjoy 2 complimentary beach chairs and umbrella during your stay. (March-October)

Overall Good
Overall the place was good. We had two adults and three children and felt that there was plenty of space for all of us to sleep and relax while in the unit. There are some definite improvements that could be made to the unit (e.g. carpet is very worn and stained, stovetop burners were slanted and difficult to use/cook for evenly, one of the dining table chairs was broken). The property itself was good too. Love that there were two heated pools, beach setup, and activities during the week. The linen exchange was also a nice touch given that there is no in unit washer/dryer. We were there during spring break so getting a spot on the beach was tough and the pools were very crowded but it didn’t stop us from enjoying the vacation. All in all, I would stay at this property again.

Knowing that we probably would not be compensated I was amazed that I received an email showing that $1218.14 been charged to my credit card without informing me. How unfair and unethical! It has been resolved but we are left with a bad feeling about the Islander.

Property is clean, nice decorations, lots of towels, and amenities. Great location. I want to voice my opinion. The pool area doesn't have good lighting in the evening and night hours. Too dark. Not safe to walk around because of it.

Beach Trip July 2020
This was the cleanest condo I had ever stayed at. Even the deck was very clean. Overall the experience was great. We did have have an ocean view, but it was not right on the beach as this complex is not beach front. However we only had a 5 minute walk to the beach. Alex came right over and asked if we needed beach chairs and always gave us the best available, he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The kitchen was very well stocked. Even had a set of Cuisinart knives. The only downside to the kitchen was that there was very little storage space for groceries for the 5 days we were there and the refrigerator sounded ready to die out on any given day. We were a little disappointed that we did not know about any of the activities scheduled at the complex. There was a live music night that we would have loved to attend. We took advantage of the kayak and paddleboard rentals available right on our beach. It was great fun!! Will definitely consider a return trip.

We had a nice time on our fall break. Beach was narrow but we made it work. The location and resort grounds were nice and quite. The view from the balcony was serene and relaxing.
