A complete nightmare
Owner demanded I meet her for scones and tea so she would give me property address, and demanded I meet her in person to pay. Mind you, I was traveling from the US for a medical procedure. She then proceeded to enter the property while I was still there, inspecting her house and accusing me of “breaking house rules” because I opened windows due to a musty smell in the house. She made up a list of reasons why I was breaking the rules, including accusing me of taking the key with me without her permission, and leaving her mail box open (no reason for me to use her mailbox). She said she would only clean and make the bed for one room, despite the fact I rented the entire place. She also said in the UK, she has the right to enter the property whenever she pleases. She ultimately cancelled my reservation, threatened to tow my car and throw my belongings in the snow, one week early when I reported issues to VRBO. She said she would refund me for it, asked for my bank account number. It’s been a week and she has not refunded me the almost $2k she said she would. Truly a disturbing experience, and willing to file a lawsuit to get my money back and report the abuse.

Very nice countryside getaway
We rented the property for a weekend away with several members of my family. The cottage is in a lovely countryside with lots of walks available nearby. We rented both the cottage and the lodge. The garden is lovely. The game room is quite big and the children enjoyed it. The cottage needs to be refurbished (roof above the master bedroom has a plastic sheet covering it outside, paper peeling off in the bathroom...) but is very nice and comfortable. The beds were comfortable apart from the sofa beds but we were aware of this. Leanne, the property manager was very helpful and quickly came to help us when we locked ourselves out. The deposit was refunded very quickly after our stay. We all enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

A mixed bag
We stayed here as a group of guys escaping family life for the weekend. We really had to convince the management/owner to let us stay in the first place as a group of men, which I kind of understand but it's not a good start. Location and nearby stuff was all great. However the house itself is fine, but the general feeling is that the owners are doing you a favour letting you stay there. Stroppy notes everywhere warning of fines if rules aren't followed, long and detailed list of rules that kind of thing. As we were a group of 9 we expected 9 proper beds, however nearer the time we discovered 3+ of these would be camp beds/sofas. Although if you need the listing properly it says that the Lodge (building next to the main house) is a separate place. That's why we thought everyone would get a bed, this is not immediately obvious and should be made crystal clear. It kind of felt like a sleepover at a friend's house where it was every man for himself at bedtime. The cooker was weird and hard to use, and there were 3 dining chairs in the dining room (there were 9 of us) also there must have been 20+ brandy glasses but only 3 that would hold more than half a pint! Washed up and put away reusable paper pepsi cups though (!) The "games room" for which we paid an additional £20 was a knackered old marquee that was filthy and smelly. I tried to point this out as genuine feedback but the owner wasn't interested. We couldn't stand to be in there for more than 5 mins. It also takes up 50% of the garden, which was otherwise very pretty. I rarely leave poor reviews and I really tried to reach a compromise with the manager but to no avail. The overall impression was that of a tired old house with knackered kit that someone begrudgingly let you stay in. Not exactly how it should be.

Gorgeous home
We spent Christmas at the cottage and enjoyed our time so much. The home is warm and cozy. The kitchen was perfect for cooking a holiday meal and the dining room was amazing. We enjoyed playing games and sitting by the fire!

Lovely cottage and expertly managed
Had an excellent weekend getaway with a group of friends. Property was as advertised and the gardens were beautiful. Only gripe would be the bed in the master bedroom, wasnt that comfortable, but would absolutely reccomend. Host was exceptional, any queries were quickly answered and was always very helpful

A Perfect Place to Quarantine
We were in a unique situation and the Gamekeepers Lodge was perfect for what we needed. Having just arrived from America on a job transfer we needed a place to quarantine prior to making the final move to Scotland. Essential to our needs was a large garden for our dogs. The house, property and neighborhood was super! Especially helpful and kind was Iolande - the owner. She was extremely gracious, friendly, and responsive. We needed to extend an extra day and she was extremely accommodating. We will have fond memories of our time at the Gamekeepers Lodge.
