About this property

Lovely, Contemporary Home Offers Light, Airy Living- Walk to Duck Pond

Situated in a wooded setting, on a small private road, the house has a new kitchen, new bathroom fixtures, and newly installed upstairs ceiling fans. The house has a sunny wrap-around deck, upper and lower living levels and an outdoor shower. The upper living area promotes an 'open' feel, as the kitchen, dining room and living room are undivided. The upper living area also has 2 bedrooms. The lower level has a large plushly carpeted open room (with pull-out), plus 1 bedroom. Each level has a full bath. It's perfect for 2 families (1 family on each level).
On the ocean side, the house is a nice walk to the idyllic Duck Pond, and a short drive to ocean beaches and other ponds. Cape Cod bike trail is nearby. Breakfast on the porch is delightful! Hummingbirds attend to the feeder overhead. We have a 40 in. flat screen TV, high speed wireless Internet and expanded cable. If you must work, at least you can do it in a beautiful setting!
Beds: Upstairs: 1 queen, 2 twins; Downstairs: 1 queen, 1 pull-out.

Golf Details: There is a country club in Wellfleet that is open to the public called Chequessett Yacht & Country Club Golf. It is a lovely course across from Wellfleet Bay. There is also top notch golf at Ocean's Edge in Brewster (about a 35 minute drive) and a public course in Truro (about a 10 minute drive) called The Highland Links. That course is atop the bluffs with a lighthouse and is like playing at St. Andrew's.

Tennis/Pickleball: You can play tennis and pickleball at the hard court public courts at the playground across from Wellfleet Harbor. Alternatively, there are the clay courts for tennis at Oliver's along Rte. 6 in Wellfleet and the tennis and pickleball courts at Chequessett Yacht & Country Club.

High Speed Broadband/Expanded TV Cable Service: We have high speed broadband Internet with wireless capability. Expanded TV cable service also provides favorite cable stations such as (for Red Sox fans) NESN!

Great place!

What a great house, and it's in great shape. Large open dining/living/kitchen has sliding glass doors onto huge deck 10 feet off the ground (child proof railing). Deck faces south and wraps around to kitchen entrance. Lovely wooded lot -- windows and sunshine everywhere. Two full baths, really nice outdoor shower. Room for everyone. Minutes to ocean and bay beaches and Wellfleet. We love this place!

Great house in a quiet yet convenient location!

We loved this house and can't wait to return this summer! The location is perfect--less than a 5-minute drive to the nearest beaches, less than 10 minutes to Wellfleet Center, 12 minutes to the famous Drive-In theater. It's also possible to walk or bike to the beaches and ponds. When we arrived the house was spotlessly clean and just as described. The dining room and living room are bright, airy and inviting. The open kitchen is well-equipped and very functional, with microwave, dishwasher, toaster oven, etc. The bedrooms are also bright and well-kept (with spacious closets and big windows), and furnished with details reminiscent of the nearby beaches. We really enjoyed sitting out on the expansive deck with early-evening cocktails after a day spent at the beach or ponds, as well as grilling for dinner most nights (the new gas grill was a major plus). (When you're not in the mood to cook, we definitely recommend Mac's Seafood Shack, less than 10 minutes away.) Also LOVED the outdoor shower--such a relaxing experience! We were very pleased with this house and the location, and will definitely be back!

Great place to stay and the set up was perfect for our needs.

The house had everything we needed, and was clean and pleasant. It was perfect for the children to play downstairs. The location was great so we could connect with family staying at the campground right nearby.

Perfect family getaway!!

Susie's vacation home in South Wellfleet is the perfect Cape Cod getaway, serene, private and close to all the beaches and activity that make Cape Cod great. Description is spot on, amenities are anything you might need while on the Cape. Don't miss out to explore the area, swim in the ponds and dance at the local beach bars. Susie's is an authentic Cape Code family getaway, don't miss out !!

Outstanding experience!

My stay was outstanding. The House was extremely clean and well maintained. The owner could not have provided better customer service. Everything was perfect! The House is in a great area, close to the beach and very private. Near excellent restaurants. Would strongly recommend this location to a friend or relative.

Not what I expected

I hesitated to give a negative review because the owner was nice and very easy to work with and prompt with all answers to questions. But I rely on honest reviews when choosing a rental. This was a last minute vacation and I had limited choices. However, I have rented several times in the last 15 years and this was not up to par with any of them. We even were tempted to leave and stay at a hotel. The place is very outdated, original appliances, flooring... the sheets and towels are very old with holes in them. The bathroom has holes that were fixed with putty over them but never repainted. The tub is very stained. The screen on sliding glass doors has holes in it so we could not leave open for fresh air. It does not appear anything has been changed or updated since the place was built 30 years ago. The bedrooms were very basic and outdated, not comfortable bedding. The downstairs had so many spiders we did not even use it. The lighting throughout the house is horrible, we tried to play board games and could barely see, impossible to read a book in any of the rooms. Very old outdated lamps in every room. There were many quirks that were sent in a letter after we paid for the rental. Such as the dishwasher when used had to be rigged. We also had to make our own beds up when arriving and after a 10 hour drive, who wants to do that??? We had to supply our own toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, trash bags... We also had to do all laundry including bedding before we left, which meant waking up early to strip beds then waiting for 2 hours before they were washed and dried before we could head out to go home! I have never had to do these things with any other rental. When renting a vacation home I want it to be nicer than what I live in or at least comparable. ( I do not live in a mansion, just a basic home in the country) It was a chore to be on vacation in this home. On the plus side, it is located in a central area, close to all things on Cape Cod.

Friends Weekend on the Cape

Susan was wonderful to work with and very flexible in accomodating the dates we wanted. The house was clean and prepared when we arrived and all of the instructions were spot on. The open kitchen and living area was perfect for us since there was a lot of eating and "lounging" rather than rushing to the beach. The outside deck runs the length of the house plus, and is another great spot for relaxing. The kitchen was well appointed with pans, tools and gadgets and we did a fair amount of cooking. The house was also super close to Wellfleet town beaches on the ocean (i.e. Lecount and Cahoon Hollow) as well as town center.

Great location near beaches and for cycling

I stayed for the July 4th weekend for the beaches, the short drive to the Wellfleet July 4th parade, Ptown fireworks, and the famous Wellfleet oysters and ample access to fried seafood. The house was much larger than expected, nestled on a private road. The location is great for an easy drive to the significantly less crowded Le Count Wellfleet beach. Cycling in the area was a breeze for triathlon training with some nice hilly sections with a beautiful view of the Atlantic ocean; this would easily second as a scenic drive. The General store was just down the street for basic supplies. Overall I would recommend and will keep this in my back pocket for a return visit.

A great time was had by all!

Nice, well-equipped house. Easy for a family with a separate downstairs sleeping and playing area for children. We've stayed here twice and have been very happy with the location as well as the web description of the layout and amenities. And of course, the perfect weather was helpful too!

Best of Wellfleet

Clean, comfy, roomy and perfectly located between ponds and ocean. Nice deck to grill and relax on. Spacious kitchen living area with private swuite below and plenty of sleeping space. Loved it!

Peaceful, relaxing setting, a delight!

This quiet and simple home provides two separate indoor spaces (upstairs and downstairs) for living and sleeping. With this arrangement, adults can enjoy the large kitchen/dining/living room area while young people play downstairs. There is a wonderful deck surrounded by rustling trees and chirping birds. A gas grill is available for outdoor cooking. The beds are comfortable, kitchen is well-equipped, and there is a new LCD television in the great room. Wellfleet is a charming, classic Cape Cod town, and I highly recommend this property.

A True Cape House

This house is in a perfect location - it is a rare find on the ocean side of Route 6 in Wellfleet (right outside of the National Seashore boundaries.) The setting is quiet and on a private road, perfect for a week-long getaway in even the busiest of summer weeks. Beaches and ponds are just minutes away - accessible by foot, bike, or a short drive. Provincetown is also just 25 minutes away by car (great for kids, restaurants, etc.) And close to the movie theater and drive-in for evening activities. Also a brand new grill at the house for great cookouts. The house itself - beautiful, large porch (with plenty of visiting hummingbirds), sunny and well-lit, perfect open space for those quintessential Cape lobster dinners. 5 star rating - will definitely be back next summer!

Why they chose this property

We've owned this property since it was built in 1986. It still seems new! The kids have grown up spending parts of every summer here, along with assorted spring and fall weekends... We love Wellfleet with its diverse natural beauty and culture. It is a special place.
