About this property

Lovely Marigny Home. Super Clean & Off Street Parking

COVID-19 UPDATE: We have implemented enhanced cleaning protocols, lowered our rates and adjusted our refund policy. We are very dedicated to the safety of our guests. Our "clean team" is enjoying keep the home sparkling.

I bought my home in 1989 and take pride in the restoration where the beauty of the past mixes with the comforts of the present. This house has been a blessing to me, as it is where I created my entertainment and costume company. Over the years we created many incredible Mardi Gras costumes right here in this house, before moving my business to the French Quarter, where I opened "The Mardi Gras Museum of Costumes and Culture". There are some great costumes displayed in this house for your enjoyment and of course all guests get discount tickets to my museum.

Guests enjoy gathering on the front porch or in our large family room, which is the perfect spot for family groups or friends wanting their own rooms, plus wonderful spaces to gather in. This home will give you an authentic New Orleans experience, and is one of the loveliest houses in the Faubourg Marigny district.

A short and pleasant walk to the French Quarter, the home is just three blocks from all of the live music clubs, restaurants, and art markets on Frenchman Street, only one block from the Saint Claude Arts District and its exciting nightlife, and a short walk to the French Quarter.

We are one block from Starbucks and a newly opened Robert’s Fresh Market supermarket with prepared food. We are one of the few houses in the Faubourg Marigny that has a driveway. We can accommodate three vehicles.

This historic home features fifteen foot high ceilings, original hardwood floors, and lovely gaseliers (half gas / half electric) hanging throughout. The master suite has sliding divider doors that can separate the bedroom and sitting room which has large windows that open to allow guests to walk out onto furnished front porch. The entrance hallway into the home leads into an open area then to a great room - perfect for large groups to gather. The second bedroom has two queen beds and a fireplace. The third bedroom has a queen as well. Every bedroom has a new 42” TV in it. There is one large bathroom off of the family room in the main house with a walk in shower.

There is a peaceful energy to the house and everyone who has stayed here has LOVED IT. Please see our reviews! We get GREAT REVIEWS!!!!

such a wonderful stay!

One of the best vacation rental experiences we've ever had. Darric let us check in early, met us and showed us around upon arrival, and let us stay past check-out until we needed to leave for the airport. The house was centrally located, beautiful, and clean. Thank you!

Great New Orleans getaway

Carl's house was the perfect getaway for our stay in New Orleans. This wonderful house was a quick walk from the French Quarter with easy access to a grocery store and local restaurants. We loved sitting on the porch in the evening when not out experiencing the town. We also visited his Mardi Gras museum and had a great time. Our only regret was that it didnt last longer.

Felt like home

The location was perfect. Walking distance to everything. Grandma spent most of her time on the porch enjoying the neighbors. Lucky there was a grocery store nearby for necessities.

Highly recommend!

House is even more lovely than the photos. Very comfortable for our party of 5. Comfy beds, good air conditioning and a well-stocked kitchen. The location is perfect. Nice safe neighborhood. Can easily walk to Frenchman Street, French Market and lots of great restaurants plus a supermarket nearby. The hosts were wonderful! Would stay again!

Great place to stay

It was clean and accommodated all our needs. We were a family of 6 and had plenty of room. It was a quick walk to Frenchman Street and the grocery store was across the street. They were great at communicating and helpful with all our needs. Loved sitting on the front porch in the mornings with a friendly cat. Would definitely stay here again!

Came for the WWII Museum for Memorial Weekend but stayed for More!.

Came for the WW 2 Museum but stayed for lots of family memories. The Marigny House was great for both goals. The 1879 house is well maintained!!! Had zero old house issues thus thoroughly enjoyed the decor, the furnishing and the historical vibe of weathered home. Located close to historic downtown it was easy to walk &/or cheap to Urber to the sites. The WWII Musuem is a must do! We had an early entry to the museum, so we Urbered six people 1.9 miles for $20. After the museum, We walked back to Jackson Squared, St Louis Cathedral & dinner. We had great food at The Corner Oyster House then around 9 pm we walked back to house with ZERO street threats issues. The "shotgun" design of the house allowed for privacy but also openness in key rooms allowing family togetherness time. I took a 6-person vote, and all agreed on a 5 rating for the 937 Marigny experience. Highly Recommend for an VRBO stay in the Big Easy. The O'

Great place and host, loved Jazzfest

Stayed for 5 nights, and went to our first Jazzfest. The house is conveniently located with great restaurants and nightlife on Frenchman’s, a few blocks away. Darric met with us and showed us the house and was available 24/7 if we needed anything. Great host and great house!

PERFECTION

We loved our time in Darric and Carl's home. This place totally lived up to the incredible reviews. The house was definitely bigger than it seemed in pictures, the beds were super comfy and the location was to die for. So close to Frenchman but still a great neighborhood feel. We will 100% be back

French Quarter Fest Fest

The house and our hosts were delightful. The house was spacious with comfortable beds and totally equipped for meal prep. The single bath was no problem for us. The location was ideal and Roberts grocery is block away and first class. You really can’t go wrong with this magnificent house.. They truly care about the house and the well being of their guests.

Five 70+ ladies had a great time!

The home was as advertised. Very clean, plenty of linens, perfect for 5-6 It was a block away from a wonderful grocery store, two blocks to a cafe with wonderful food. The neighborhood was quiet. We had a great time at the Mardi Gras museum owned by the homeowner, great history and fun trying on outfits. We did walk to the French Market and French quarter from the residence. Uber was great for getting around more distant places. We had just finished a five day cruise on the Mississippi and the home was perfect for us to unwind and catch up with each other. We highly recommend.

Cannot Wait to Return

Our stay on Marigny was absolutely perfect. The pictures do not do the space justice. Carl and Darric were wonderful hosts making sure we had a wonderful introduction to the property. Our only regret is not making it to the Mardi Gras museum! The porch was an added bonus. Perfect to sit and enjoy NOLA at any time of day. Lovely for pictures, as well. Walking distance from everywhere you’d want to be. ☺️ Ready to return!

Great Location - Real New Orleans Vibe

We stayed here for a weekend friends getaway and it was just perfect for us. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go, and as a result saw fantastic houses and got a real feel for New Orleans. The hosts are amazing and responsive,. They worked so hard to make sure our stay was comfortable. The home is older, and that added to the charm. Highly recommend staying here.

Perfect House, Perfect Hosts!

Our stay at Carl’s place was magical! The pictures look good but when you actually walk in, it’s even better! Spacious rooms, high ceilings, beautiful decor, the whole nine yards. I’ve never had hosts be so generous, fun and helpful like Carl and Derric. I would stay here a million times over.

Mother-in-law/Daughters-in-law bonding

Carl and Darric could not have been more welcoming. We had an early arrival, so they worked it out that we could visit Carl's Mardi Gras Museum of Costumes and Culture while we waited for Darric to finish readying the house for us. What an experience the museum was. Then it was off to the house, which we had selected based on location and spaciousness. Getting a mom-in-law and her two daughters-in-law together may sound "interesting", but be assured the private sleeping quarters for each of us and the lovely accommodations made for a wonderful experience. And the front porch is the perfect place for a glass of wine and late-night girl talk. I want to thank our hosts for a carefree visit.

Great Location for being able to experience the French quarter. A 15 minutes walk into the thick of things. Yard to park was a plus! The house was spacious true to the Old Charm style of New Orleans. Host was very responsive and gave us a thorough tour of the house. We would definitely stay again.

A warm welcome - literally

We recently stayed at Carl's house to enjoy some early Mardi Gras festivities and were charmed by the beauty of the house and neighborhood. Usually Carl likes to meet his guests in person and welcome them to the house, but he had to be out of town to attend an important family event. In his place, he had a wonderful friend welcome us. We arrived on a particularly chilly night and after a long day of travel, we were delighted to find that Carl had made sure the heat and lights were both on so we immediately felt a warm welcome and well cared for. We did take advantage of Carl's generous offer to visit his Mardi Gras Costume museum and had a fabulous time viewing the amazing collection of costumes, learning more about our host, and playing in the dress up section of the museum and snapping photos. We also loved the architectural details of the house, the comfortable furnishings, the beautiful costumes and Mardi Gras memorabilia displayed at the house. The house is in a very quiet and walkable area and we appreciated the suggestions he left for restaurants. We will definitely be back!

As Expected Until Last Day

Residence and property manager were as expected until our last day when my wife and I walked in on the home being burglarized. While I cannot necessarily lay blame on the property owners for the burglary itself, their complete lack of communication pertaining to potential insurance coverage for our losses is astounding. After nearly a month of attempting contact, I’m writing this review so that others are aware of the utter indifference of these owners. After spending nearly $2,500 on this rental, to offer no assistance as to potential property insurance coverage and completely ignoring our multiple contact attempts is remarkable. Rent at your own risk…

Ideal home and location

This home truly enhanced our 1st New Orleans visit. It is so very comfortable and historically authentic. It is spacious enough for 5 adults to really spread out. The most pleasant surprise was the comfy front porch where I started each day! Our hosts were outstanding, accessible, and accommodating. The location was perfect- safely walkable to Frenchman St , several local breakfast joints. French Market, with an excellent market across the street.

Amazing stay in New Orleans!

This is one of the most beautiful homes I have ever stayed in. The property is clean, well cared for, spacious, and comfortable. The owners provided linens, bottled water, coffee, and even left us a bottle of wine. It is in an amazing location, very near Frenchmen and within walking distance to the Quarter. (though we drove most places due to inclement weather) Best of all, Carl and Darric were lovely hosts, making sure that we will well cared for our entire stay. They gave us restaurant recommendations, as well as opened up his costume museum to us for a private tour. Next time we return to NOLA, we will make sure to return to this home. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

Why they chose this property

This house has been a blessing beyond measure. I built several businesses from this home and enjoyed nearly three decades living in the Marigny neighborhood. I'm excited to share the old world charm of this elegant home with visitors. It is one of the nicest homes in the Faubourg Marigny district.

What makes this property unique

Conveniently located walking distance to the French Quarter. One block from vibrant restaurants and bars including Starbucks, Cajun's, Siberia, Hi-Ho, Club Always, Arabella Casa de Pasta, Pheonix, Who Dat Coffee Shop and Mags 940. One block from St. Claude street car line which takes you to the French Quarter via North Rampart Street. Lovely front porch to relax on.
