About this property

Two Bedroom Cottage at The Blue Bell Inn

Our two bedroom cottage is ideal for families or couples travelling together. Comprising two en-suite rooms, one with a king bed and one with a double and single bed, lounge area with wood-burning stove and kitchen facilities, the cottage allows you to enjoy your own space while still benefitting from the pub/restaurant on your doorstep. Well-behaved dogs are permitted (charge applies).
The Blue Bell Inn, Crookham, is set in some of North East England’s most spectacular countryside. Marvel at the views in the Cheviot Hills, take in the dramatic Northumberland coastline or make the short hop over to the beautiful Scottish Borders.

We’re sure once you’ve visited Northumberland you’ll only want to spend more time here, so why not stay a few days and discover what the region has to offer. Relax in one of our comfortable, individually designed rooms and enjoy the Blue Bell Inn hospitality.

Sit back, warm up by the wood burning stove and enjoy a traditional country pub at its best. Choose from our selection of guest ales, delicious wines and malt whiskies while we cook you up some good quality home-made food.

For history buffs, the Blue Bell is a mere mile away from the site of the Battle of Flodden, which claimed the life of James IV of Scotland in 1513. September 2013 marks to 500th anniversary of Flodden and events are taking place throughout the year to commemorate the occasion. Visit the Flodden Ecomuseum for more information.

Just a couple of miles from the Blue Bell, Ford and Etal Estate offers a number of attractions, including the 14th century Etal Castle, the Heatherslaw light railway and Lady Waterford Hall, as well as cycling routes and delightful walks along the river Till.

Excellent accommodation and breakfast. Equally good restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful
We stay at the Blue Bell Inn to break our journey when traveling up and down the UK. Always assured of a great stay and wonderful food in the restaurant, especially since they have a good selection of gluten free dishes.

Extremely comfortable accommodation, excellent food
We stayed overnight in the very spacious two bedroom cottage which was extremely comfortable and made for a very relaxing stopover, but would also be ideal for a longer stay. We ate in the restaurant which had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the food was exceptionally good.

Perfect stop over
Booked the attached cottage which was perfect for our party of five. Enjoyed our evening dinner in the pub with some local Alnwick beer. We were made to feel very welcome. Perfect point to stop if traveling to and from Scotland.

Warmly welcomed for an overnight stay meeting friends
Although we were just meeting friends for an overnight stay before their departure from Edinburgh for Australia it became a memorable reunion not least because of the warm welcome at the Bluebell. We were offered, as two couples obviously together, the use of the adjoining cottage suite and this was much appreciated.Similarly appropriate seating in the restaurant together with well kept real ale excellent food and first class breakfast all contributed to a most enjoyable stay.

Comfortable cottage
A very pleasant experience. The cottage was extremely comfortable and the staff were a joy. The evening meal was great (leave room, the portions are large!) and the breakfast delicious with local produce being used.

Relaxing Break
Stayed two nights for a short break, a great experience, enhanced by a free upgrade to the cottage attached to the Inn. The welcome was warm & friendly, enhanced by the news of the free upgrade! We were shown the cottage which is a truly amazing space, although we thought slightly wasted as there were only the two of us, it comprises two bedrooms, one en suite, while the other had separate shower/ toilet, both of which are large & airy. The accommodation also has a large lounge, kitchen & a wood

A great place with excellent food and friendly staff
We chose the location as it was away from the usual tourist hot-spots and therefore safer for Covid reasons.

Perfect accommodation for our break
Very nice cottage attached to the pub with separate entrance. Comfortable. Not a perfect shower arrangement, but functional. Food good with the limited menu that is currently available thanks to The virus.

Excellent venue with lots of attractions all within about a 20 minute drive.
Two couples wanted a winter break in a quiet location with a village pub. It gets better - the cottage we hired was attached to the pub. All we could need - our hosts, the Elstub family could not have been more friendly, despite the trials of the coronavirus.

A gem. Cosy fire, suntrap on private terrace, two very comfortable bedrooms, quiet and relaxing.
Made a last-minute decision to get away for a short break - this is the second time we've stayed this year as we fell in love on the first trip. Not only is the cottage perfect with 2 large bedrooms (can sleep 5), both ensuite, it's in a great location to explore Northumberland and the Borders. It's a quick trip over to Bamburgh if you want sand dunes and waves, there's a Dark Sky Certified National Park just down the road, and more. We lit the fire and unplugged, and it was perfect.
