About this property

3 Bedroom Cottage at Battens Farm Cottages - B&B and Self-Catering Accommodation

The Farmhouse - sleeps five . The Farmhouse provides spacious accommodation spread over two floors, with one double bedroom, one twin and a single bedroom.

There is a comfortable bathroom and spacious kitchen/breakfast area plus large living area and dining room with a stunning log burning fire and views across fields.

The traditionally decorated rooms in the Farmhouse are large and airy and there are charming features such as the beautiful wooden staircase and huge fireplace. An extra bed can be provided for further sleeping. There is a patio area and access to a tennis court, summer house and barbeque.

Please note that we sometimes move reservations between our two lovely cottages if we feel that either one would be more suitable for our guests, therefore if you require The Farmhouse specifically then please specify this on the booking, or alternatively if you have mobility issues please book Stable Cottage as it is single storey. Please note that neither cottage has been designed for wheelchair access at this present time, however Stable cottage, as well as being on the ground floor, has a shower rather than a bath, making it easier for people with mobility issues.
Battens Farm is a working organic farm located in the Cotswolds, two miles from the pretty village of Castle Combe, recently used to film 'War Horse', and eleven miles from Bath, the fabulous roman spa city.
Our cottages offer relaxed, traditional country accommodation, with roaring log fires, comfy sofas and pleasant views over fields.
We pride ourselves on creating hearty breakfasts using our own produce when available, and this is delivered right to your door!
You will find outdoor seating areas and a barbecue for summer evenings; perhaps after a game of tennis?
Our bed and breakfast is unique. You will have the full use of a cottage with kitchen facilities, spacious living area and total privacy, so you can enjoy the best of self catering and bed and breakfast combined!
Battens farm is four miles from Lacock, used to film 'Harry Potter' and numerous costume dramas, and four miles from Corsham, recently famous for the filming of 'Poldark'. The arboretum at Westonbirt is nearby and we are conveniently located for the annual Badminton horse trials.

Perfect place to stop off
This was a magical place to stay - the farmhouse has real character, was really quiet, and had a lovely dining table to sit around and a lovely wood burner. Breakfast came on the dot and was great. NB check in was chaotic and we were taken to the wrong property initially; one of. the cupboards in the kitchen (I think a fridge) was in a bit of disarray - nothing major, but could be an issue for people having a longer stay. Some way of having tea or coffee with the breakfast would be nice.

A very cozy stay with a lot of charm. We will surely be back.
From the moment we arrived until our departure everything was very pleasant. We arrived at night and they brought us great! Then they lit the fireplace for us. In that room there is a very cozy atmosphere. The beds are comfortable. The bathroom is very nice. Breakfast was perfect. We will surely be back if our travels take us back to the Cotswolds.

Great location, lovely cottage and superb cooked breakfasts.
We enjoyed our stay right in the centre of the farm looking out onto a field with horses and the stables just a few steps away. The living room was comfortable with a large table on which to enjoy the hearty cooked breakfasts pre-selected the evening before and delivered to the door each morning. The kitchen well was equipped, some kitchen cloths would be useful. Upstairs the room layout is quirky, the beds comfortable. A bedside table in the main bedroom would be good. Very friendly owner.

The best authentic farm experience
The home and property were beautiful. If you want an authentic farm experience, this home is on an active farm with a stable in the back. They even make you a home cooked, fresh breakfast in the morning. It was so close to many cool spots in the Cotswolds.

Fabulous
The only bad part about our stay is that we only stayed one day/night! It was a wonderful and quaint farmhouse that was quiet and as advertised. I thought the breakfast options were above expectations, arrived as requested and was delicious with no complaints from our kids!

Delightful
We loved our brief stay at Battens Farm. The cottage was clean and spacious and Mike was friendly and accommodating. It was charming to watch the horses playing in the pasture alongside the cottage.

We celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary at your accommodation and although the weather could have been better, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The welcome log fire was perfect on a cold day.

Relaxing, peaceful stay on a beautiful working farm!
Joanna greeted us warmly & showed us to our perfect little cottage. Beautiful flowers growing, cows grazing nearby, gorgeous views, quiet and peaceful. The bedrooms were cozy with comfy soft bedding, the kitchen with stocked fridge very convenient. Wonderful living room and dining room with thoughtful touches. Breakfast was a treat. Joanna gave us pointers about the nearby town (beautiful Castle Combe). We felt well taken care of and so comfortable! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

I wish we had stayed longer
We only stayed at the farm one night as we wanted somewhere to spend the night after arriving late afternoon at Bristol Airport. The weather was not the best and after some adventures with king-size puddles we found the farm, with the kind help of our hostess. We were really stunned by the space and quality of the accommodation especially the interior decoration. We then went to eat and straight to bed, but enjoyed watching the horses in the stables opposite the next morning.

Hidden gem
We didn't want to drive 2 hours late at night, and thought we'd stay after an event and meet friends while there. It worked out perfectly.

Beautiful cottage in rural Wiltshire
We spent two nights at the farm for Christmas to visit relatives nearby. As ever the check in process is relaxed and we were made to feel welcome. Everything was clean and working well.

Perfect stay
I spent one night in the Battens Farmhouse. Location and facilities were perfect. From our room window we could see horses in the middle of the English countryside. The farmhouse was the perfect place to spend our holidays in the Cotswolds area. I wish we could stay there longer.
