Set on a farm in the heart of rural Monmouthshire on the edge of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty our three dog friendly cottages are ideal for activity and tranquility.

We are less that 15 minutes from the old Severn Bridge, M48 and Chepstow yet Bristol is 30 minutes away; Cardiff 40 minutes. The bridges are now toll free.

Our small working farm, with views over the River Severn, has horses, cows, sheep, chickens and ducks as well as our spaniels and cat .

We are at the heart of a network of paths, tracks and rural roads ideal for walkers, runners, on and off-road cyclists and horse riders. We are close to renowned rock climbing, potholes and canoeing in the Wye Valley; the National Diving Centre; Chepstow Racecourse and David Broome Equestrian Centre; and the glorious Black Mountains. Brecon Beacons and Forest of Dean with its mountain biking hub near Coleford are within an easy drive.

There are routes to explore on the farm and from the farm to pubs and locations such as Tintern Abbey. We are on the edge of a 1,000 acre wood.

All bedrooms are en suite in buildings renovated to the highest specification. Everything is new.

High ceilings and large windows are features of all the west facing rooms which look across the Glyn valley.

Each Cottage is named and themed after one of our local hills. The Sugar Loaf has three bedrooms while the Skirrid and Blorenge have one double bedroom each.

Each cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge with smart TV.

Visitors will find a small provision of household essentials on arrival including fresh eggs from our own hens.

We have a separate washing and drying room; and a warm shower for muddy dogs and bikes, and a secure room to store your valuable bikes.

Your hosts offer guided walks in the Wye Valley, Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons for every level of walker and you can book shiatsu treatments from a qualified practitioner.

Beautiful place

Week away
If you are looking for a real 'out-of-the-way' break near the Wye Valley, this one is worth a look at. The outlook from the Skirrid home was just fab for us that live in a large town just outside London. Just so peaceful, apart from the birds going about their business, which was great to watch. Inside did not disappoint either with a good sized lounge/diner/kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. I usually rate my finds high, but in this case have had to go with a 4/5. The location does not receive 3G/4G, so WiFi is a must to remain connected. Indeed, you need Wifi to take advantage of some of the TV features. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the Wifi was down, with the host advising he was on the case and by Monday it would be back. Sadly, this did not happen until Friday, a day before we were due to depart. We all accept some things need a technician to sort and it sounded like the host had been let down by his team, however, it did impact the quality of the stay, which the host duly acknowledged. That aside, would recommend as a good base for SE Wales.

Fantastic stay
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights with our dog. We had such a brilliant time! The accommodation was beautiful and had everything we needed. We had such a good rest from work and enjoyed being able to go for fantastic walks. You are able to go for a walk around the farm land (and being a horse lover I loved being able to see the horses so closely) and there are longer walks that you can take from the front door. John was very friendly and knowledgable of the area, providing us with maps for local walks. This local knowledge made the world of difference as we knew where we were headed on our walks! We had a couple of rainy days but enjoyed playing scrabble (there are a selection of games you can borrow) and watching films. We left feeling refreshed and would definitely return. Thank-you!

Great Stay at Welsh Marches at Upper Glyn Farm - August 2019
My family (2 adults and a young child) stayed in the Skirrid unit at the Welsh Marches at Upper Glyn Farm for 4 nights in August 2019. It was an excellent experience. Communication with the owners was great. They sent us a very helpful welcome packet before the trip. When we arrived, everything was as-advertised and we were able to quickly make ourselves at home. The unit was clean, bright, well-appointed, and looked exactly as it does in the photos online. The owners had left on the dining table laminated satellite images with walking routes in the surrounding area marked on them. This was a lovely touch as it allowed us to quickly get out and start enjoying the immediate farm land and woodland around their property. The views from the unit and its patio were gorgeous and made the start and end of each day a real pleasure. The location of the Welsh Marches at Upper Glyn Farm was very convenient for our explorations of Southeast Wales. The drive there from London was very easy and we were a relatively easy drive to Tintern Abbey, Raglan Castle, the Forest of Dean and Clearwell Caves, Caerleon's Roman ruins, Caerphilly Castle, the Brecon Beacons, and Hay-on-Wye and its many lovely bookstores. We spoke with the owners on a couple of occasions while we were there and they were very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful experience at the Welsh Marches at Upper Glyn Farm and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in the beautiful Wye River Valley region.
