Charming cottage, but facilities not accurate
We had a pleasant stay at La Saponaire. A charming cottage, fully equipped high spec kitchen and bathrooms. Outside was a little untidy to sit out on the patio. Location good.
When we arrived, there was no bed linen or towels. We contacted them next day, the owner would phone us, but we didn’t hear, so we bought our own bed linen. We were told that the bed linen & towels were an option and not provided. There was nothing on the website to say this. We (and family and friends) have never heard of having to provide bed linen and towels in any property we have rented before, so it never occurred to us to bring our own and sizes are different.
On the website and when booking, it states that the facilities include the swimming pool. The pool was locked and we were told that the pool is only available to the other two houses. We messaged to say we had paid for the pool from the website. It was one of the facilities that attracted us to book in the first place.
The agent came Monday afternoon, and we showed him the website. He was apologetic and very pleasant about the mistakes on the website. The pool was made available to us.
Parking and areas where La Saponaire guests are allowed to go are very limited. We were lucky the other two houses were not rented out. I would suggest that La Saponaire should only be a supplemental rent with the other two properties and not an independent rent. It should also be made much clearer whether bed linen and towels are provided.
